Within the Region of the Zelic Empire, Life flowed normally.
Or at least as close to normal as the twisted and violent people of the empire could come to be in their most idle of moments.
On one of their worlds, orbiting a dying red star.
Citizens went about their duties in the vast and dark cities sprawling across the surface of the planet.
Soldiers and warriors marched to the command of their Inquisitors, wielding weapons that spoke only of the cruelty and deep lust for slaughter their race held.
While high above, beyond the Reddish grey of the clouds that eternally hung over the cities and fortress settlements that clustered across the terrain of the largely barren and rocky world, Zelic Craft and battleships came and with throughout the atmosphere with dark and unknown intent.
While deep below the city, in dimly lit torture chambers, shackled and tortured prisoners of war and conquest Screamed out of pain and gave voice to cries for mercy that went unheeded by silent guards who only smirked at their pain. Amused at the suffering of those that they looked at as lower then them.
a routine day of repeated patterns and rituals of life in an empire that practically Supplemented itself on the spilling of others blood and organs.
Shaw sat, motionless. Perched high on the precipise of one of the tallest of the towers of the city, his head down. Looking across the Skyline and observing none of it. His face creased, deep in thought, Someone was trailing him. Stalking him Had been stalking him. He could sense it on the furthest tips of the complex maze that was his own timeline.
“A woman…” he thought. “Of the Flux… Who is she?...” he delved again. Trailing her process across the years of his life. His interactions. Always staying just out of reach. Or questioning those close enough to warrant information to be gained.
“shes been hiding herself…" "That or shes perfectly aware of the fact that I can sense her, and she doesn’t mind it.”
He allowed himself to smirk slightly. He had to admit, he actually liked this woman, she knew what she was doing, and she knew how to find information that normally wouldn’t be uncovered.
Although her judgement of his character was off at times, more times then she might have liked. Arrogance was easy enough to portray, and it had a remarkable effect of tricking the opponent into thinking that he simply dismissed them as children, as foolish cobblers with time tech… that was the farthest thing from the truth.
He knew very well the threat they could pose if agitated in the wrong ways.
They were far from stupid, quite on the other end of the spectrum actually… Although at times their military caste could cast that image quite well.
As such, he had not left his timelines without defenses, that included erasing true ones entirely and planting false ones in their place. The woman might not have realized it, or if she did, she played the part of ignorance, But the picture she was putting together of him was more then likely largely incorrect in its facts and developments.
“She’ll catch on though, She’s good at what she does… Not like Dorin, no. She puts Dorin to shame.” He nodded to himself, confirming the thought. “Shes not like the flux at all…” his train of thought was cut off as a tremor Suddenly rippled through the city. A light rumble that rattled glass in windowpanes and sent masonry and stones tumbling from their perches on the towers to crash in the streets below, sending zelics scattering in their moves to dodge the falling debris.
“I’ll have to keep an eye on her. Deal with her if i have to” The timecaster thought to himself as he Stood up from where he sat, looking down at the Sudden flurry of activity in the streets and allys below as the Zelic people flowed out of the entrances of the dark and twisted towers or from other business in the street to observe the damage, gathering around the fallen masonary.
He couldn’t resist smirking as a Second tremor rumbled through the city from somewhere deep within the stony crust below it. The small forms of the Zel down below moving suddenly with a panicked motion to their movements. Running wouldn’t help them. That much he knew already. Not from what was to come.
“Better to just get comfortable and enjoy the ride while you can zel.” He thought as he leapt off the tower, his wings unfolding and carrying him aloft with powerful beats. Carrying him high above the city, He didn’t want to be too close for what to come. It was better to watch a fire from a distance, get to close an one was likely to burn themselves, only this fire burnt blue.
From his vantage point, he saw it all, Tremors multiplied in the crust, grew to the point where they united into one massive Quake that moved the crust below the Buildings of the city in waves, sending several toppling into the streets or onto their neighbours, thick Clouds of mingled dust and smoke going up in great plumes as they fell, some of it almost reaching him where he hovered.
The zel were Fleeing now he saw, Ships and Ground craft fleeing the city in droves as the quake continued. And he almost let loose a laugh at their progress as several were crushed under the collapsing debris of the towers and roadways. The Towers in the center of the city that marked the Great and vast temple fortress of the divinatae collapsing outward as the stone and earth upon which they rested bucked and rose upwards in a massive bulge. While throughout the city, other centers and districts did the same.
As he watched, the bulges cracked and fissured through the remains of the foundations of the structures that once rested on top of them. Letting out torrents of smoke and superheated air from deep within the planets crust, rays of Blue and lavender light shooting skyward from them.
The Fissures spread along the bulge, spidering outward from their centers with a low crumbling sound as they spread.
There was a deep bass sound as the Bulges first expanded, as if the earth was taking a deep breath, then imploded and collapsed on themselves, the blue rays of light flickering as fall dust and debris obscured them for a mew moments, before shining unobstructed towards the sky above. Their source revealing itself from down below, as the time drake floated high above, every detail caught by his eyes.
Towering Monoliths slowly rose from the still widening holes, Floating on apparently nothing. Each one of them well over 600 meters tall, and constructed of a deep blue and lavender crystal, pulsing rhythmically with the light he had seen emanating from the gaping sinkholes their emergence had formed.
The deep bass sound began again, rising above the somewhat muted sound of the earthquake destroyed city going to pieces down below, and it took him a moment to observe that the sound was emanating from the crystal towers themselves.
“They’re getting ready to go.” He thought as powerful vortexes began forming around, the crystals center. Drawing in the smoke and dust clouds towards them, the bass Hum intensifying to the point where he could see the crystals surface oscillating. The light within their cores intensifying to a near white brilliance,
Before going off in a powerful pulse that spread outward throughout the world and it’s atmosphere, catching Zelic ships even as they moved to escape or respond to the activity on the surface.
Their systems going dark as the pulse’s effect forced them to reboot, imbedding the Entity that dwelled within the Crystals deep within their onboard systems, Immediately they began charting paths out of the atmosphere, despite the efforts of their baffled crews to regain control.
Soon enough, The time drake knew, as he looked up at the Pinpricks of lights that marked the paths of the vessels as they left the upper atmosphere. It would take movements to kill them off. Probably, he knew. It was already venting the atmosphere from the vessels, and with certainty he knew, that the exact same episode of actions was repeating across the entirety of the Zelics colonies in ancerious, Worlds were dying even as he looked out across the stars at them. Spreading everywhere that the Zel had planted the shards he had given them.
“Now." He thought “time to take care of another matter.”
