Dorin watched the apparition flicker away with a blank look upon her face; the Council of Five was not, perhaps, quite as naieve towards having her fleet wait here as it had seemed. With her new directives, a certain sense of confidence was beginning to creep into her mind as she began assembling her thoughts. With a swift movement, she ran her hands over the console in her quarters, and a holographic map of the frontier between the Immortal Empire and the Tenebraen realm appeared. Between them lay the Zellic territories, and she contemplated them for a moment. She glanced over at one of the Heraldic guards standing at the threshold of the chamber.
She smiled faintly at them, before turning back to the hologram. The war was finally about to come, and with these latest developments, at long last she would have a chance to make a proper feat worthy of her reputation.
Shaw Watched her Keenly, A Look of Disinterested Amusement on his Face as he Looked over her shoulder, Cloaked in a Veil that put him half in and half out of the timeline, not enough to Prevent him from interacting with it, but at the level he was submersed it in, it was more then enough to prevent them from sensing him, and his presense. He Smirked to himself as he watched her go back to her work, At least until he wanted to.
He chuckled inwardly to himself as he moved away from her, Settling into what might have been the Fluxs equvalent of a Couch set against the wall of the Room, stretching a bit, so her doubt in the council had been Dampened, There were other things to pick at. More Perhaps, then even she knew, And with enough work, he knew. she could easily be at his fingertips. he stretched again, letting his other form come out and dominate his features, his jaws stretching out, teeth sharpening, the structure of his feet becoming degitagrade, his hands becoming more akin to claws, a serpentine Tail forming from the base of his spine, his body shifting to nearly twice its normal size. it was strange, he thought, only a few months and already he was used to this form, spending even more time in it then his original one... That was for the best he thought, She wouldnt recognize him. and for this, he wanted a good "first" impression. He thought, as he got up and looked over her shoullder again. "Hello, Dorin." he said, allowing just enough of a drop in the veil for her to hear him.
Despite her age, the woman's ears were sharp enough to pick up the noise, and she glanced up towards its origin. The faint shape in the back of the room very much resembled one of the ghostly forms the Ascendance used to communicate, but it didn't shimmer in the same way. She paused upon seeing the shape, but she was surprised despite her appearance. The two guards in the room had seen the apparition too, and shifted slightly with unease at the sight. Perhaps it was their piqued curiosity at the apparition, but they didn't seem to recognize it as a threat.
Shaw Grinned as she turned and saw him, His smile spreading even more as he read her reaction, She could keep her composure or neutral Expression very well, and he had to give her credit for that, but in her eyes, there was just the faintest glimmer of Surprise. and he Relished the thought. He turned his gaze to the Two guards, drawn by the moevements of one of them, an uneasy shuffle of the guards metal clad boots that told him that they were more curious then defensive. Good, he thought. let them wallow in that a bit, let them drop their guard. before turung his attention back on dorin. "Hello Again Dorin, It's been so long... How have you been?"
She met the dragon's eyes and held that gaze for a moment without sign of a facial expression. The shape was new, but the voice was timeless. She could only hope her guards hadn't been involved in the Great Confrontation, lest they recognize it too. She deactivated the console and stepped towards the creature with an unusual lack of caution. She knew better than to say impossible, but it was to her at least a rather unanticipated visitation. "Cold blooded species. Rather fitting, really."
The door to the chamber dilated, and with quiet precision the guards exited the chamber. It was the first time since they were assigned to her that they had left her in privacy, and this too surprised her. But they could see the future directly, and there was a certain confidence in knowing that they left with that knowledge.
"Hmm." Shaw nodded as the guards left the chamber. Before again turning his Attention back to her, He Chuckled as she mentioned Cold blooded. obviously she was new to the species. "Ah so you do Remember. Thats Grande! Saves a whole lot of time in introducing myself." *He looked at her as she stepped towards him with Cautious Interest, Here. he thought. was a woman who had little fear. a Natural leader. He Sat casually back down on the seat, lettin the veil drop even more so she could see him better. "I'm Not a Dragon dorin, What i am is quite a bit more complex. but i won't bore you with Details." He said, Correcting her. "So hows life knowing that your entire culture and race is nothing but a one use tool?"
Dorin swallowed nervously. It was a question she'd wrestled with ever since learning the truth about the Great Confrontation; the gods were far more fallible than she had comprehended...
"Our purpose is our own." She stated uneasily; she peered up at the vision's snout with a thin mask of certainty well balanced upon her face.
"Mmm hmm." Shaw said sarcasticly. nodding his head to emphasis the point. "So does that have to do with the Purpose before, or "After" your god was supposed to end my life?" He Gave a slight shrug, a perplexed look on his face. "I don't see much in terms of development from your people and thier ways." He tilted his head. "Why is that dorin? i would have thought that the council would have thought ahead with that? Have you?"
"I am not the fool I was then." She whispered softly with a frown. Shaw didn't know as much as he'd seem to let on to-though he undoubtedly knew more than he'd claim-but he knew enough to fake it. "Do you believe you will profit from taunting me?"
"Not at all dorin." The Drake said, Lounging back on the seat somewhat idoly, his tail twitching Placidly. " I'm just curious is all, Told to keep hidden untill the time comes, The Time Comes, your people serve their purpose and are Cast off to your fate, like some Deralict hulk in the wake of a Vortex ship, and yet... You still choose to hide in the shadows? live like nomads while other empires encroach on your home regions and set up shop?" He Narrowed his eyes thoughtfully. "forgive me if i'm Perplexed by that notion."
"A fateless people have only the destiny they write themselves." Dorin snapped at the monster before her. "That much cannot be said for yourself, Chaw'Hast. He may not have killed you then, but you shall still die." She hoped her confidence was as convincing to him as it sounded, for she herself knew little in regards to his ultimate fate.
Shaw Only smiled, She knew so little about things, About the commodore, about him being nothing more then his scape goat against the Man that they viewed as little more then a beast, that they were still falling for his Deception, He debated letting her Know, but Quickly decided not to. "That" he Decided, would be information best saved for another day in the future. She would know, but now now. "Dorin... Are they writing their destiny? Or are they so lost in their old ways that they don't know how? "You" seem to. but do they?" He Chuckled softly. "Do they? or do you?"
"You wage war, that much is true. But why are you fighting it?" he Tileted his head again, "Is it because your people choose to, or are they still following his Programming? His Rules of staying hidden that he set down for them to Follow?"
"No more than you are. Your handiwork is evident enough, demon." Dorin had a very unenergetic manner of anger to her; it was all in the words she stated, and how she stated them, rather than in posture. "Zel. Vastra. Myric's Court. Do you believe I am so ignorant as to not recognize it?"
She leaned against the console shakily as she abruptly felt herself grow angry at the creature's presence. "We all may not have seen your shadows, but enough knew."
"And you deserve credit for that..." Shaw Smiled internally, This was exactly what he had hoped thst she would lead him to, These... Sensative topics. "Her" Topic. he nodded as he counted off the event's "Right... right again.." He Paused, a Genuine frown comeing across his face. "Wrong. you would be wrong Dorin. Myrics Court. They're doing that on thier own... Thats actually what i wanted to talk to you about."
Dorin frowned, and the rinkles on her face seemed to deepen at this. "You will betray yourself in time, demon. I know what happened, and what did not happen. I would have hoped you understood that."
"Oh i understand Dorin, I just don't like specifying the obvious." The Drake Went on, still Smiling, although the Grin on his face had lessoned Consideribly "Then you know about how Droth and other Members of your own people are Conspiring against you? keeping your timeline Stagnant?"
Dorin feigned a look of bewilderment at the creature. "Surely you jest in saying so, knowing that which you say you know..."
Shaw Frowned, raising an eyebrow at Her. "You can stop the Act dorin, You Cant Pass off a Lie very well." His frown immediately turning back into a Grin. "Gotta Give you props for trying it though... as sarcastic as it might have been. Glad to see that your race at least has something akin to a sense of humor. So you know, What are you going to do about it? If you don't mind my asking..." he said, bringing up his arms in a scale gesture.
"a war in one hand, your own people trying to topple you on the other... Sounds like quite the predicament."
"Only half of what you say is true, and you speak to me of lies!" Dorin spat, before the door abruptly dilated: there was no time between then and when the Heraldic guards returned. But this time, they held no curiosity or patience; the two guards who left where now eight, and in their hands weapons were forming. "When can we expect your company on our journey, ambassador?" She inquired politely, her demeanor abruptly shifting in the presence of the guards.
Shaw Turned his attention to the guards, Shifting his position from a casual one to a highly formal posture. his smile shallowing into a neutral expression, he eyed them only for a moment or two, taking in thier numbers and the weapons they weilded, before Bringing his eyes back to dorin, Again admiring her Impressive Skills of Posture. "Soon enough." He Replied calmly, Playing along to the ruse. "There are matters among the Districts that still need to be addressed. A month perhaps..." he nodded.
"Do not wait too long, Ambassador." She chided politely, "I fear I would be wasting my breath to tell you this is a once in a lifetime event for most parties. Dorin out." She held her breath, silently praying that the apparition took its cue and vanished.
"Hmm." The Drake nodded. "Indeed, I'll Look into the Court, See Who i can convince. AuRuell out. He Said, giving her an unseen wink before Drawing the Veil up over himself again and Fading from their sight and subsequent Timeline.
Dorin immediately turned to the guards, knowing full well that her words would be known to the demon. "Alert the council." She said simply, as she rushed out of the cabin. "It's not dead."
To be continued...
