A lone halcyon swordship.
Far, far away.
<Ancerious Galaxy, Eastern Expanse, zone 46#25#3#c#1'ce>
A lone halcyon swordship is smoothly sailing into EOS territory, mapping with more precision the halcyons' psionic outcry maps.
The ship was smoothly sailing into Eos space, gravitational anomalies coating the ship. The extensive sensors mapping every single formations. Most of it was mapped - only in a very blurred and inaccurate manner in un-scouted sectors.
The ship, was crewed by three halcyons. Two of them cuddled up asleep in the crew quarters, the third waving holographic displays around him, in the bridge, directing the lone sensor ship forth.
The small ship, was currently in the edge of Eos's sensor range, heading towards their territory.
As the small ship entered the massive sensor envelope for the Eos Consortium and FTL alert was sent to forces in the area. The recent Nuclean attacks had meant all military and defensive assets were on high alert, and anything suspicious was placed as top priority. The few Eos ships in system quickly began moving towards the unknown vessel, clearly something never seen before Exemplar Cyllis watched the craft very carefully before stroking her blonde hair and opening a channel “This is Exemplar Cyllis of the Eos Consortium, this area is claimed space and currently under lockdown, state your identity and intent or be immediately destroyed” Cyllis would take no chances.
The small halcyon craft came to a sharp halt, turning to face the EOS ship, turrets pointing 15 degrees away from the EOS ship. It remained in position, replying with a short beep, followed by a communication opening. The ship's joint minds recognized the language, thus skipping the translation process.
The ship's hull's main gun, an artillery piece, was sealed shut, and the turrets seemed to pack particle projection guns and pulse lasers.
The voice which replied... Seemed like one of three people. A female, wearing a helmet which was linked up to the ceilling, spoke. She wore white robes, and light armour.
"Greetings and peaceful tidings to your people. We are of the halcyon Empire clan, 7th legion. We are currently undergoing a scouting and analysis, as to further the precision of our galactic map from our psionic probing. We mean you no harm."
The ship released odd gravitational anomalies around it. Several small tubular snake like "fields" which linked to the star system's gravity well.
The ship looked fairly brand new. Clean, barely used. Barely a scratch of spacial debris.
Cyllis stood up and bowed slightly, she wore a white and gold armour, with the eye of Eos clearly emblazoned on her breast her long blonde hair and angelic face like all her people was keen and sharp and her pure green eyes analysed both the figure on the message and the 7th Legion ship. “Peaceful tidings is a relief to here, we have been attacked by a very aggressive force of heretics. Who are currently engaged with our divine forces, we are merely patrolling for any more enemy strikes. We have not encountered you’re… Halcyon clan or the 7th Legion, perhaps we can learn from each other” She said smiling, hiding her commander’s tactical instinct. Around her Heavy cruiser another two heavy escorts lined up, none of their weapons systems were online but shields were raised.
"We are a peaceful and sensible nation, and would be more than happy to partake in mutually beneficent relation. We, aboard this recon ship, are not equipped or trained for diplomatic relations, nor have the will to partake in such an important duty. If it would be possible to your people, we would wish to continue our mission, and provide you with a beacon. Our beacons are standard issue first contact items, which will help in bridging our nation’s diplomatic relations."
The ship unanchored itself, the weapons turning as they pulled down, hiding away. Several energy spikes from the ship would be seen lowering - notably in the crystalline sections at the sides of the ship.
"The beacon is a piece of our culture, presenting information of our culture and specie, basics of our history, a few technological gifts, and a tachyon warp communication array to come into direct contact with our leadership. We are ready to send the beacon at your leisure."
"We do not mean disrespect, and are happy to meet your people. We simply do not have the training, or ability to see this diplomatic relation through. I pray you understand."
Cyllis bowed her head “I understand, I indeed agree I too do not have the expertise to make anything official. However I do have to warn you this is contested space, as I previously said we are at war and under attack, most of us have been drafted to save civilians or engage the enemy forces. But I will contact my lords and tell them of this situation, I can imagine they would be eager to meet with your people and perhaps create something substantial” Cyllis grinned “We ourselves are a very religious people, we wish to make our way in the universe in the name of the one true lord Eos, however those like the… Nuclean Ecueme as they call themselves are heretics and wish to attack us for our beliefs, such beings will be stopped”
The ship, which had started to move forth, but froze up.
"Excuse us, but I must make sure we have understood correctly. The Nuclean Ecueme has launched war against your people on the basis of religious belief, with no genuine reason for war behind it?"
They seemed... Surprised. In fact, more than surprised. Genuinely shocked.
Cyllis nodded "You know the Ecueme? They came into our space as nomads, we offered them peace and to submit to the will of Eos. When they refused we told them respectfully to leave otherwise conflict may be started. Our faith is very clear that those who reject our offers cannot be friends. When they threatened our diplomat with death we intervene and intimidated their forces to move away, after they rejected an offer to leave peacefully. We had no intention of engaging them in warfare and would leave them however a few days ago out of nowhere a large Nuclean fleet attacked our Capitol. Tens of thousands were killed and we lost many ships, but in the end they burned in the light of Eos and were defeated, now they are back again trying to strike our shipyards. It seems they will not cease until we are destroyed"
"The Ecumene are currently part of an effort to preserve our species from extinction. We find... It strange, and alarming that they would attack another people on the basis of religion."
They paused a second.
"Did you imply your nation was to turn hostile to any nation which did not choose to convert to your religion?"
Cyllis frowned "The act of extending the divine light of Eos to another faction is the highest gift we can bestow, rejecting it is tantamount to declaring war. However we have somewhat bent the rules to allow those who decline to leave in peace and not return. Those that reject and insult our offer will be attacked, we extended it to the Nucleans to offer them a home, they seemed lost and we wished to guide them, after they rejected the offer they spat on our offer to leave in nonviolence. And yet we still left them alone, only now do they come back to strike us in revenge for an act of kindness"
"This seems extremely counter intuitive... And we are assuming this behaviour hasn't turned any culture into your religion. From our limited knowledge in cultural and sociological belief and infrastructure, a people would be far more likely to convert to a religion after an extensive contact with the said religion was had... A people would be far more likely to come to believe in your religion and way of life were they to live amongst your people and being in constant and positive interaction which would lead them to consider the religion and its teachings, whereas proposing a people to either convert and leave would simply have them leave. Not to mention... That from our historical archive, of most religions we have met, religions which tried to enforce itself did not last longer than a few thousand years at best. The extension of your people's culture and religion would likely be far more productive were your culture to be more open to interacting with disbeliever, where said disbeliever would come to interact, and passively learn of your belief - to the potential of wishing to convert by themselves."
"Of course, none of us are sociocultural specialists, so we make our assumptions simply on our limited knowledge on the subject."
Cyllis eyes narrowed somewhat "We have had many join our cause over the years, and our religion is thousands of years old. We here are but a small splinter seeking to enlighten this galaxy. Our methods are and have been sound for many years, if those who wish to explore our religion wish to do so without full conversion we will be happy to oblige however for now the Nucleans have spat on our offer and killed tens of thousands of our people, many innocent civilians. We will not sit idly by faith or no faith and let them destroy us. We will stop them by any means" She said in a very fiery tone.
"This, we understand. The threatening of innocent citizens, not to mention harming, is unforgiveable. Our leaders will be informed of this on our return. We are sending the beacon now..."
A small object was fired from the ship - within a glass like "capsule"...
It was a small, silver and crystal, dog sized, egg shaped construction. Within it social, cultural, diplomatic and territorial information such as trade routes, neutral routes, docking and station protocols, and so on.
The most interesting thing of the beacon, however, was that it was made of seemingly nanoorganic crystals, and that it was powered by what seemed to be, rather than "batteries", a small nanocarbon tube capacitor, which was storing a huge energy by employing the large surface area. A clean, instantly near instantly charged battery, cheap, and very economically and ecologically friendly!
The beacon seemed to act as a quantum warp communication and teleportation device, as well as a data storage unit.
"We hope this will be deemed as appropriate."
The beacon was packed with... Typical first contact data. Almost painfully cliche.
Cyllis bowed slightly "We humbly accept your gift, if you wish to understand our philosophies, here" She said tapping a few controls a tight burst of information was sent across the com channel, a copy of Eosian Prefactus the holy book of the Consortium, and the only time in Ancerious where it had ever been sent to another faction. "Read well Halcyon clan, the next time we meet will be with my lords and more... in depth. Until next time 7th Legion, I must get back to my patrols" Cyllis bowed again before cutting the channel, the massive ships moving away from the small swordship once again.
The "book" was received, with a "data received", and a copy resent to the EOS's ship - proving the ship had received the document. On certainty the book was complete, the halcyon ship began moving again.
"Best wishes to your people... We shall continue our mapping, but would have no problems with being under surveillance by your people. Your citizens would likely feel much safer on the knowledge aliens in your territory are watched over."
Far, far away.
