The once sleeping giant had been for the most part, introverted and unconcerned with the affairs of the other star nations. This is reflected on how DaHSA mostly explores everywhere BUT the inner and densely populated northern crescent. The few nations they do have contact with, had come to them when they first arrived, or already where acquainted during the Exodus war.
But now due to what was first thought to be a Flux attack on S.C.C., along with already heated cold war between S.C.C. and two other star nations. The D.H.R. starts to accelerate their R and D plans, and launch a contact mission now that was planned many years down the road. And so, Doctor Lebens and his rather famous exploration vessel was sent on a long trip to a certain neutral world, a land where they heard dragons made of crystal walked and magic flourished. The journey would take months on its direct course, the ship mostly outdated for the time being, but the mission was important, the ship symbolic considering its accomplishments. So off the Heinrich Darth set...
The ships long trip was coming to its destination, little did they know, they were expected company..
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It had been a rather long trip for the crew of the Heinrich Barth. The crew was still in stasis at this point as the modified light carrier slide across space at amazing speeds. The automated pilot making corrections and maneuvers when needed. Two immense and powerful turreted radio / tachyon telescopes keeping watch in the direction the ship was headed. The cock pit / bridge started to light up as time was drawing near to thaw the crew. It would be an hour or two till the ship would reach the edge of the solar system at the ships current speed.
The ship then flung into normal space, the crew fully thawed now some two hours later. They would all be going to their stations as Lebens made his way to the bridge to oversee the approach. Seemingly nothing had greeted them yet; nothing really detected ship or station wise. The telescopes would tuck against the ship as it made a very, very slow approach into the atmosphere. The shielding systems taking any heat damage instead of the hull but more than likely it was lowering itself to slow for that. He stood there crossing his arms as he watched the ground get closer and closer, head tilting." Mmmmm. So this is where they reside? Pretty. Wonder what life is like here. "he says as he directs the ships pilot to take them over towards the city in the distance.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- As the ship moved to dock the city became more visible. Despite being less than a year old, the city was already massive, only helped by the fact that it was built in the center of vast grassland, the ground was level and the plants only knee high at their tallest. The city itself covered a long strip of land in an ovoid shape and filled with buildings of various sizes, shapes, and styles ranging from buildings made entirely of large trees, to buildings made completely out of metal. On one end of the city was 10 massive arches like a rib cage, each arch growing smaller the further outward from the city. It was just outside the arches that ships docked at individual ports which alone were also of incredible size to accommodate the ships that visited the city. In the center of the city stood a massive tower that stood tall overlooking the plains, buildings circled around its base.
The ship would begin to slow down more and more as it turned to aim itself in what seemed like a dock being enough for the berth. Once it came to a full stop, the side lower hangers would open as a bridge started to extend. Once atmo was deemed safe, Lebens walked out of the airlock and across the hanger towards the ramp curious to who'd he would find, he'd look around left, then right raising a brow." Well then, seems like they were expecting us. Not even a single radio transmission? "He says to one of the two humans accompanying him.
"Welcome, Dr. Lebens of the D.H.R." said a drake who stood calmly in front of the crew as they observed their surroundings. He was dressed in very basic clothing; loose jeans, a wrinkled shirt topped with armor plates over his chest formed to accommodate his soulshard. A pair of glasses sat over his snout in front of his grey reptilian eyes. A back pack was strung over his shoulder.
"Indeed. Welcome, friends." replied another drake, taller than the first, dressed in green robes designed to resemble plant life. His brown skin gave off a green tint.
"We have been joyously waiting for your arrival."
Doctor Lebens looks them over a bit confused at first." You know my name but i have never seen you before. "He says, mostly blank like. His left part of his face synthetic, the strange peach red gem like artificial eye glowing just a bit. He wore a strange black and white outfit along with a top-hat with arrows pointing up but his crow mask was attached to his belt." Well who might you be? "he asks calmly.
"I am royal ambassador Thorn, my colleague here is Jackrelnon" replied the drake in the plant like robes. "but you can call me Jack" replied the smaller drake. "and as i said, we have been waiting for you." followed Thorn.
Doctor Lebens found this rather unusual, normally it was the Lizzys who spied on everyone. He looked at them both with suspicion at first." Jack it is... "He reaches out to shake paws with as a standard gesture as he looked over to Thorn, shaking his hand as-well if he’d accept." I guess if you know who i am you know why i am here then? DHR has deemed you the most desirable contact in the northern crescent.
The two drakes shook Leben's hand.
"Yes, in fact our queen would like to meet you for just that reason." Thorn eagerly replied.
Doctor Lebens blinks again, still a bit confused. He follows along as each of his hands get taken, the two humans following along in trail, as one of them would act as a note taker, the other would be busy with his Datapad." Queen? Interesting... "He says to himself thoughtfully." Look forward to seeing her. "
“And she, you, Doctor. We best be on our way to the tower" Thorn replied pointing over the buildings to the tower which overlooked the whole city. "We can take care of everything there."
Doctor Lebens nods." Yes, let’s get to business then. Such, strange, but delightfully different... you creatures. Never really seen anything like it up close, and such refreshingly friendly attitudes. "He looks up at the tower with great intrigue." So that's where the queen resides? Or where she works? ".
"No ", she resides on the other side. She’s visiting in order to meet you. Our royalty prides itself on their involvement in what most other species' higher ups would consider beneath them." Thorn answered. "Although our race can afford such things."
“You can call us the drakes and you'll find out all you'll need to know soon enough" followed Jack.
Doctor Lebens gives a nod." Hmmm. Well everyone has to start somewhere. " He says partially to himself as they went along. He’d look around and take in the sites finding everything here delightfully intriguing." Drakes. You do seem dragon like, say what is the gravity of this world? "He asked, noting the tall and slenderness of their kind. Almost strangely skinny in a way. DHR knew of them but did not know OF them, and that always had him curious.
"Similar to that of our home-world, Earth. We tend to stay in familiar environments as home. Our artificial world on the other side is the same" Thorn answered as he led Lebens and his companions towards the tower, passing by some shops, bars, and other interesting sights. The air was filled with the scent of various food and the sounds of happy citizens. Each drake they passed was unique, no two alike. Their clothing was equally as diverse ranging from elegant and flashy to simple yet defining, some even wearing nothing at all
The note taker human would snap pictures every now and then as they passed all the sights. Doctor Lebens took note of the shops and planned to buy something on the way back. He’d also have his note taker contact the ship to send the crew on rotation trips out amongst the market to get anything they wanted, if possible, while he was away." I rather like all the strange clothing you all wear. So diverse and often vibrant it seems. "He comments, waving at one of the drakes as he passed.
"Yes, we are quite diverse creatures, Doctor. We value the unique." Thorn replied. The drake who Lebens had waved to gave him a smile and friendly wave in return. A couple of drakelings ran by, playing in the street by firing weak spells at one another.
Doctor Lebens gives a nod." As do we, lizzys, as the other races of DHR call us. The note taker snapped a few pics of the two little drakelings shooting spells at each other, kids being kids. Perhaps the photos taken today would end up in the StarNational Geographic. It was sort of Lebens line of work time to time." So what do people eat here? Fruits, veggies? Both? Something different? "he asked looking back to Thorn.
"We are an omnivorous species, although we lean more towards a carnivorous lifestyle." Thorn said, pointing over to an open shop filled with a wide assortment of meats, some recognizable, others not so much.
Doctor Lebens gives a nod as the note taker takes a snap of the shop." Interesting." To joke he smirks and says." Thankfully I would taste horrible, like chewing a copper pipe. "He says as he looks to Thorn as they kept going along their way.
"sentient races rarely taste good anyway, Doctor, no need to worry." Thorn replied with a smile, although whether he was being sincere or joking was unsure.
Doctor Lebens chuckles a bit." I wonder if that is a defense mechanism. Or a random by product from the more complicated workings of a sentient being. So what do you do here on this rather, beautiful world? "He asks holding his paws out to the side
“this is a world for trade, interaction, and entertainment. There is little you can’t do here save for the obvious criminal activities"
Thorn answered. “Although, we are not like humans for sake of example. Things are very different for us, both socially and biologically, and at the moment, we have only created what is necessary for a drake to live happily, not mortals."
Lebens gives a nod." Trade, yes. That will be a huge topic here, but... I take it you really love entertainment then? "He runs a paw over his chin as he looks over to his note taker making sure he jotted that down." Mortals? You people are not mortal? "he asks very curiously.
"No, we are not bound to reality as most other races are. We are not limited by life spans or restricted by most natural laws. In fact if you were to look upon us from a scientific perspective, we shouldn't exist." Thorn replied.
"We’re magic embodied" Jack added
Lebens wound raise a brow over his mechanical eye." Huh. Maybe, maybe not. Science today would seem like magic to people back when candles were the lights in homes at night. There is a science to everything; one simply has to explore it. Then of course there's the theories of DNA coding that scripts a life span, the dill with the brain sending a signal to start aging, and the problem with the folding process. There's ways to delay this, one day there might be a way to stop it. But, then again is that the best thing for everyone? "He runs a paw over his chin again, he was a biologist after all." But, then again magic is something that seemingly died off on earth, but there are many myths of it that persisted into games. So I dun dismiss it entirely. "
-After a moment or two of self pondernce." I wish to, study this magic, after the meeting anyway. If you dun mind. "
"Yes, I expected such a reaction." Thorn answered. "I can assure you, science is not a lost art amongst us like magic is to the inhabitants of earth. We know the difference."
Doctor Lebens smirks." Well that's interesting and pleasant to know. "Looks around as Thorn kept guiding him along." If the two truly are separate, and if the source for it can be identified. I can see D.H.R. Opening up a school for such. We, sort of were trying to uncover the lost secrets of magic during the Exodus war, but sadly. Humans, on earth they seemed to have a lust for information destruction with each new regime. There was not much to uncover and all efforts failed. How, strange and interesting it would be to discover an entire world of it. "He says partially thinking out-loud.
“I think something can be arranged. We are willing to share our knowledge with those our king and queen deem worthy, and Queen Circe has already made her decision for the D.H.R." they were nearing the tower now and the closer they got, the taller it became. It was a very different experience than what they saw from their ship as the tower appeared to lean over them; its white form almost glowed in the sun light. A light hum could be heard emanating from its walls
Lebens blinked as he looked back up at the tower. As if, perspective of light was seemingly being played with. He rubs his living eye and looks back up to it once more." Such a strange, tower. Seems to be more to it than the eye can see, even, my reptilian eye, that can see two more colours then the three that humans can only perceive. "He angles his head to better hear the wall, the reptilians lacked actual ears, but did have ear holes just behind the base of their horns.
"It's singing." Jack said, his ears were focused on the tower. "It’s a wonderful song, today is a good day, my friends."
"Yes, quite, Jackrelnon. Although not all of us can be blessed with the ears of a sound drake. Come, the queen is waiting." Thorn replied, leading the group to the massive blank doors.
As if on demand the doors opened revealing a large chamber with little to no decoration or furniture save for a few large benches curving along the walls and a large podium in the center. There were no stairs or visible passage ways in sight other than the entrance.
"Everyone inside." Thorn said, gesturing to the empty room.
But now due to what was first thought to be a Flux attack on S.C.C., along with already heated cold war between S.C.C. and two other star nations.
