Union Home Dimension: The Interceptor
The Emperor sat in his chambers, overseeing a large holotable with a projected battle plan silently moving about as his eyes flickered and moved. With each such move a unit or ship was repositioned so that the game moved impossibly fast. The Interceptors own AI core was pitted against the Angel in a match to win. The chambers themselves were dark, no lights were only the only thing that fought off the darkness was the Holo table projection and the Emperors own glow.
“You always had a thing for gaming” Came the voice out of the corner of the room. Myric didn’t look up, merely keeping pace with the game as it progressed.
“You know, you could always knock. And do not think I am on good terms with you Sotek” Myric replied, eyes darting and units moving. The demon moved into the light of the Holo table, his expression was somewhat a mix between regret and understanding, again Myric didn’t look up.
“You still haven’t talked to her have you?” Sotek said after a few moments of silence. Suddenly the units stopped moving. The game had paused. Myric's eyes stopped moving too. Looking down on the simulated battle below he didn’t move. Sotek was about to continue before the Emperor was already standing up, his face up close to Sotek's his eyes were bright, incandescent and full of rage. His nimbus of power around his head growing brighter.
“Do. Not. Speak. Of. Her.” Myric said calmly. Sotek could tell his was on the verge of attacking outright. Sotek nodded and Myric backed away slightly “You have come to report something?” He asked focused on Sotek completely. The demon nodded.
“I have come to you regarding things in the Ancerious galaxy” Sotek merely said without emotion.
“And?” Myric asked sitting back down eyes fixed on Sotek's yellow and red eyes.
“Everything is going according to our plan. The Grand Alliance has been founded, Capitol is seeking to gain new allies and Par'Lan is currently investigating the claims we heard about a Nakai relic world. Plus the meeting with Shaw and Naga went according to our expectations” Sotek replied. Myric merely nodded.
“They know?” He asked. Sotek smiled.
“Of course they do, however they know they still need me. I have time. And...” Sotek materialised a letter for Myric “From Naga himself” Myric raised and eyebrow and took the letter, opening it he started to read.
"Your people had such peaceful and simple dreams of their lives in your great empire once. I enjoy turning their beloved delusions into their greatest nightmares. I appreciate you giving me the first of many sources in this wretched galaxy feed upon. The days of peaceful sleep are now over, the nightmares are only just beginning.
Until you dream again, Emperor, and thank you."
Sotek read the words as Myric did through their innate connection. Sotek grinned at the words, the next few months would be incredibly satisfying. Myric's face was blank for a moment before he started to laugh loudly. Sotek raised an eyebrow as the Emperor smiled.
“They really do think the Union to be weak... When they really have no idea. Watch the Union forces in Ancerious Sotek. I have allocated additional resources to be used as your discretion. If you have any problems tell me. I already have contingencies in place, I'm sure things will go wrong. We cannot anticipate their every move but we have allies in Ancerious, and powerful ones at that. Use them, work with Hargun. If what Par'Lan discovers is true then we will be able to rectify the situation for sure” Sotek smiled and nodded.
“Of course, Oh and a few more things” He began “The forces on Tau Volaris...”
“What about them?” Myric asked.
“The Paradox forces... They are led by a creature called Maximillion Nivose. He is... Powerful, he bested me in ritual combat. Here let me show you” Sotek closed his eyes and Myric's eyes began darting as they shared the experience. Myric's eyes widened.
“He... Is the true Axiom?” Sotek merely nodded. Myric rubbed his chin and stood up.
“I will message Hargun and inform him, things just got a lot more complicated” Myric replied “Did you also say there was something else?”
Sotek hesitated for a moment “Yes. And its something I am worried about. I am not sure exactly if what I am feeling is right but I need to tell you” Myric turned to him.
“I said do not talk about her Sotek” He shook his head.
“No its not about her” Sotek replied. The Emperor looked puzzled “During the Draken war when I was part of their network I had a presence always in my mind, whether it was from the Draken commanders or Xanthos himself it was always there. I have been free of such for many decades now. But in Ancerious... The presence has returned. Like its calling to me... Myric. There might be a chance...” Sotek said. Myric looked at him seriously.
“Are you telling me they are back?” Myric said clenching his fists. Sotek shrugged.
“I don’t know for sure, no scans or anything have been reported of any of their ships from any of the empires, trust me I have checked, I'm not sure if what I feel is true. But we shall see”
Myric almost immediately responded “If they do tell me as soon as possible. If the Draken have mysteriously returned... We have to mobilise. And get the inhabitants of Ancerious to do so too. You know that” Sotek nodded.
“That is all I have come to tell you” Sotek replied. Myric nodded walking to stare out of the large window into space. Sotek turned to leave until Myric spoke up.
“Sotek wait.” The demon stopped.
“Yes?”
“I will talk to her. But only if you spend time with your daughter” Myric said not looking away from the stars. Sotek smiled.
“Deal” with a tornado of darkness Sotek left the room. Myric turned to see him leave, with a flick of his wrist the lights came back on. Making his way to sit back down to the game he stared at it for a time before wiping it off the Holo board. He was conflicted. The current events were bad enough, Phobos was still alive... The Drakens possible return... He cleared his head and muttered some words.
“Maybe next time” He stood up and called out.
“AI”
“Yes my Emperor”
“I want you to establish a Holo connection to the Imperial Palace”
“Any contact in particular my lord?”
“Yes. Call the Empress”
