Tau Volaris: Allied Assault Underway. Union Sensor Satellite
It was very cramped in the sensor satellite. Seth sat at the communications and sensor operation centre and was deadly quiet as he surveyed the data arrayed before him. It was a tiny orbital, only made to contain advanced Union sensor apparatus and support a small crew. Seth and Efrit stealth squad after completing their mission to clear the allied dropsite of the anti orbital cannon had returned to the satellite to rest and prepare to receive orders. The rest of his squad were either sleeping on the small bunks or playing holocards on the table while Seth looked at the info streams before him.
The allies had begun their assault, with the rebel fleet destroyed the Nex, Union, Templar, Mineva, Carnaith, IRS and EPA forces had begun their assault drops with Tenebrae and Spartan forces lining up to begin theirs. Losses were somewhat lighter than anticipated however he knew the real fight was just beginning. Seth was alerted by a quantum com signal that came in over his personal arm mounted computer.
”Seth this is Eric Rane. We need you to infiltrate the main orbital city and help allied efforts to retake it. Use sabotage and assassinations to behead and disorient the rebel factions and hook up with the alleged Col-Sec elements that are still fighting somewhere in the city. Establish coms with them to the outside and guide or forces to them. Rane Out”
Seth smiled. More action it seemed... He calculated the trajectories for the boarding of the city from the sensor satellite however it would be 6 hours until the two orbitals came within acceptable parameters for boarding even with Skia pods. 6 hours. Seth turned to his men and without uttering a word explained the situation through their complex sign language ordering them all to take rest if they hadn’t done so. Seth himself after getting onto one of the cramped bunks and shutting his eyes.
It was going to be an interesting day.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The alarm rang out in the satellite and in an instant the team was moving. It was time to deploy and Seth already had the plan memorised out in his head. He checked his suit, grabbed a MK13 Plasma Auto carbine and a load of other small essentials like the rest of his team and got into the Skia pods waiting in their launch bays. For this he spoke up.
“Everyone. Don’t forget the plan. No long range radio chatter, squad coms only. Our objective is to find Col-Sec and hook up with them, get coms up and then aid them and allied forces in guerilla warfare on our end” He smiled in his black helmet “Live forever men” The blackness of the pods enveloped Seth and once again he felt nothing as the black teardrops launched towards the vast complex of the orbital station.
As the pods neared the large station they phased, the jet black forms reappearing inside the complex itself in one of the outer hull maintenance areas. Seth and the team quickly deployed finding cover as the pods rephased to hide themselves. Weapons were drawn and Seth signalled the squad to move out, sound dampeners were activated and the squad turned on their active camouflage.
It was a long way to their target. Seth didn’t know how much of the orbital was in enemy hands but he knew there were friendlies somewhere. The team made their way through long corridors and maintenance hatches towards the inner rungs of the orbital, these outer areas around the main hull were mostly deserted, dead areas, probably not used even when the orbital was in friendly working order. Seth didn’t care, it only knew it was better for them, however the inner areas... would be far far harder.
The team kept close as they made their way towards a very large airlock, finding themselves in a huge cargo area they stopped instantly when they heard voices. Seth signalled for them to move out somewhat and the team took up positions. A small port on his arm opened up and Seth released a clutch of nano particles into the air, microscopic cameras which floated around. 6 men. All cultists were sat guarding the airlock, these were not the trained kind. Amateurs, taken to the idea when the orbital was taken over. Traitors to their cause. Their city uniforms were ragged and crossed with icons and they carried light weapons, typical for city guard forces. Either way the squad needed In through that airlock.
Seth gave the squad orders and they moved out, their camo keeping them concealed as they went to make their moves. One cultist dropped instantly, the sabot needle from Graths sniper rifle going cleanly through his head, making him appear as if he had slid down the wall to sit and rest. The others turned to see and some laughed. Next thing they knew two of them were dead, throats slit as Quarn and Londo had come up behind them and put blades into their jugulars. The remaining three went to start shooting in that area but were cut down by Seths silenced weapon and Graths sniper. Quarn and Londo hid the bodies while Grath set about hacking the door, a simple task for a intelligence person and a cargo airlock. With a large moan the door opened, and the team was in.
That had been the easy part. From now on things got a whole lot harder.
