Ancerious Galaxy: Unexplored space
The giants floated through the void in eerie silence. Their massive forms like manta rays of earth were grimy and mottled greens. The fleet was a mix match of sizes, vessels from tiny corvettes to larger broader battleships roamed, all in a vague defensive formation. At the rear of this massive force sat two huge ships, these were the arks which carried the greater portion of the civilian population in them. But truth be told, no Yteran was really a civilian.
At the forefront of the fleet at the huge span of the super dreadnought Amaryllia, its enormous wingspan and dark green hull was menacing enough, and made the fleet look like some sort of shoal of fish. However as menacing as it was the Amaryllia was child like in mind, and needed guidance. This was why Kennedia had been born. The captain of the ship sat interconnected with the vessel itself, the neurological links and meshing linking to Kennedias biosuit to achieve total mental melding. He white hair flowed in the arterial fluid which circulated the large command chamber, the room was full of the semi transparent liquid, in fact the whole ship was. Yteran ships were alive in every way and their people having to live inside them merely lived inside their circulatory system, feeding off the nutrients and oxygen the ships blood provided them through their bio suits. Kennedia couldn’t feel the flow however she was totally melded to the ship.
Being one with Amaryllia was a homely feeling. She could feel the ships every form and function and essentially guided it in whatever tasks were required. Her other two clones commanded other sections of the ship, acting as secondary brains and processors while a small army of crew linked at other stations to provide back up and support functions. Leaving Kennedia to command the overall picture. While incredibly old in ship terms the Amaryllia was still a child at mind, eager to display its power. It needed controlling and calming and the vessels mind welcomed Kennedia, with the a flex of her mind she felt the ships bio weapon batteries, its biological hull, its Ion engines, its sensors and a host of other systems.
Truth be told Kennedia was connected to Amaryllia for a long time, and she only came out to sleep. She had last been off the ship and onto a planet the last time they had stripped a planet for resources they could use, the distribution of the materials still being carried out as some of the support vessels docked with the warships, umbilical cords connecting between ships as they exchanged nutrient rich fluids. A process that would continue until they found a new home, having been forced to flee their world when their star was dying. The Yteran people were hardy, and accustomed to space life. So much so that Kennedia wondered how they would revert back to living on a planetary object again...
The Snow white haired women was alerted as Amaryllia fed her information to a sudden unknown object. She instantly locked onto it, zooming in and scanning in multiple spectrums. Her gene enhanced brain reacting lightning fast. It was....
A ship. Another race... The Yterans were not alone in the universe after all? She zoomed in further to see a graceful sleek silver vessel, clearly made by non biological substances it was a marvel to see. Almost blade like it sat there unmoving. She alerted the fleet with a conscious pulse and one of her clones sent a signal to the council. A mind meld later and she was surrounded by the various council members minds.
“Kennedia, you are sure this is an alien vessel?” One of the councellors asked, his long white hair and red eyes similar to those of the captains betraying his gene manipulated heritage.
“I am sure. This vessel is clearly constructed by a race other than our own” She replied without emotion. Running the Amaryllia was taxing enough without emotions in the way.
“Excellent” Another council member said, a women this time “We shall make contact immediately” Kennedia nodded slightly, her avatar appearing to them as if she was in a physical form, when in reality her mind and body were seperated by the super dreadnoughts systems. She watched as a large portion more of these ships jumped in. various sized ships fanned out, at speed.
“What are they doing?” One of the councellors asked. Kennedia watched them as they came into formation and increased speed. She frowned. They were on an intercept course. She opened all known com channels.
“This is Captain Kennedia Lucrene of the Yteran Nomads. We do not mean harm and wish to seek possible talks with you” She ended the message, they were still accelerating. She detected energy build ups in the enemy ships but which ones... she wasn’t sure, Amaryllia was confused. Kennedia calmed the ship, unsure as to why her sensor systems were being messed with. She received a message shortly after.
“We. Are the Inari. You trespass. Now die” Kennedia grew angry at the thought and immediately activated Amaryllias fearsome weapon systems, the fleet did the same the smaller ships coming closer together as their weapons deployed.
“Protect the Arks” Kennedia commanded “Let them make the first shots” The blade like craft came in fast, faster then Kennedia had ever seen. In moments they had passed between the Yteran fleet and opened fire. Beams flicking out at some of the smaller vessels. The small Yteran ships screamed as Kennedia felt their death throes. They merely exploded in decompression or were ripped apart, the beams seemingly totally ignoring the Yterans thick biological hulls.
“All force open fire!” She shouted, Amaryllia eagerly unleashed her power as hundreds of bio plasmic rounds, parasite missiles and seed pods were launched at the enemy, the rest of the fleet adding to the barrage. The 500 ships of the Yteran fleet should of completely wiped out the 23 odd ships of the 'Inari' but for some reason. They took little if any damage, evading most of the shots. Kennedia was puzzled, how could they ignore the return fire?
The strange ships came in again, one detonating as Yteran concentrated fire tore the vessel apart, more beams flicked out and a few more ships died, their arterial fluids crystallizing in the cold void. Kennedia felt pain flare in her body, Amaryllia had taken some hits, nothing serious but minor wounds. She was getting angry now. Then as soon as they exited their second attack the enemy ships broke and ran for the edge of the combat zone. Kennedia was confused and the council called after.
“Follow those ships!” She commanded “We need to find out why they attacked us and who they are! I order the Yteran fleet to make full speed after them”
Kennedia went cold again, not liking the chances of her orders she had to obey. The Yteran fleet turned and Amaryllia surged with adrenaline, knowing that it could get revenge soon enough. All the while Kennedia surveyed the enemy ships again. Something wasn’t right....
