Tau Volaris Surface: Tau Tiberius, Red Angels domain
The wind howled like a rabid beast, its talons raking the surface of the troops armour as the dust and sand blown in from the open plains scratched armour and weaponry. Punctuating the wind was the sound of war. Artillery fire both from the city and out in the plains played games of counter battery after counter battery. The occasional AA system opening up as scout gunships from both the Union and EPA made pop up recon of the city from behind ruined towers, the missiles screaming towards their targets. The main attack was yet to take place but running skirmishes between his forces and those of the enemy were happening constantly.
The Red Angel stood surveying the domain as his forces prepared for the inevitable assault on his city. The horizon, somewhat obscured by the dust storm showed the crashed form of a EPA Dart class, its triangular hull jutting from the landscape like some dark spire. The forms of men and women bustling around its form could be made out with magnification as well as the makeshift defence lines of the EPA and Union forces arrayed there.
To the north of his domain the Red Angel could clearly see the domed city of Tau Profundus, artillery exchanges and fighting could be observed in the plains between the two as his raiding parties continued to harry the forces of Nivoses followers. Truth be told the Red Angel was supposed to be helping Nivose in defending this world. As he was supposed to be allied to the other various factions of Zions mix match army. However the Red Angel didn’t care for such trivial alliances. He had been approached by forces of darkness not known to the others here. Unlike the cultists of the Draconian or the followers of Nivose the Red Angel had a much more defined goal on Tau Volaris set by his masters. As long as this city held out until the time when his mission was complete he didn’t care if he lived or died. As long as he took as many allies down with him.
The large red figure was interrupted in thought as one of his commanders entered his presence. Sevatar. His most trusted commander was in his blood red armour, all signs and symbols scratched off and more graffiti of praise was plastered onto it. The man bowed before the Red Angel, his own flesh draped armour flapping bloodily in the wind. The flesh would be damaged by this outing and he would have to flay some more prisoners to keep his look fresh.
“Master It appears the other allied forces are taking up positions further south of here. The Spartans and Tenebraens are setting up camp and seem to be preparing to move against us. I do not think we can stand a 5 way battle” Sevetar explained never taking his eyes off the floor. The Red Angel laughed.
“Yet more Sacrifices, do not fear my son. My plan will come to fruition soon. Once it does it doesn’t matter if this world falls. We are merely here to ensure the ritual is completed without interruption” The booming clearly inhuman voice of the Red Angel replied. Sevetar knelt lower in response, treating the Red Angels words as holy edicts.
“Of course my lord. My men and I will protect this city with our lives, we will die gladly knowing your plan will succeed. The sacrifices are ready, that you asked for. I expect we will have the blood debt paid in full once the various main attacks begin” Sevetar said in reference to the killing fields and defences set up by the Red Angels forces around the city.
“Indeed. I expect our lords will be quite pleased by the offering made here. I suspect some are catching onto our plan. But it is of little consequence, it will be dawn soon on this world. A new blood red dawn, filled with sacrifices” the booming voice returned.
“My lord...” Sevetar started “What if the Union recognises our ritual? And they manage to stop it in time?” Before he knew it Sevetar was against the wall, coughing blood as his chest was dented by the lightning fast blow of the Red Angel, the giant standing there flesh wings outstretched holding a clenched fist.
“Fool. They can try to stop us, if the Union discovers what is happening here they will be mortified and send yet more to die. Either way our masters plan works just as intended. You would think our lord has not foreseen this? The Red Angel replied angrily. Sevetar coughed more blood bust still kept bowed.
“Of course....” he suppressed yet another spike of pain “My lord... I’m sure our lord and master has indeed” The Red Angel grunted and returned to surveying the city from the high balcony of the spire. He heard Sevetar crawl off and smiled.
They would die. Everyone of them. His own men, and many of the enemy. All was going to plan.
Soon they would come.
