Unknown part of space. Just after the destruction of the Xantan system
He had felt the connection sever. It wasn’t normal. When someone died under your control you felt them slip away, even if it was sudden death. However this had been a long drawn out affair, however it became even more suspicious in that Sotek had to fight to stay in Garrens head before the end. He had been driven out and tried to fight back in. Someone was playing with his toys. And what was even worse was that he had watched the entire battle of Xantan play out, through multiple minds and perspectives. Garren had died instantly in reality, but his life had continued for approximately 12 minutes on after his 'death' before the end. Something wasn’t right. For he hadn’t been able to 'see' through Garren the moment he had 'died'
Sotek pondered for a moment, the dark still atmosphere of the ship completely silent. He had his sources, and he could potentially ask around but this was an affair only he could solve, who else would know about his presence in Garrens mind... Shaw? No. Shaw was working with Sotek to defeat various factions. Shaws new allies? No. Sotek hadn’t met the 'Draconian' as they were called yet but he was sure they wouldn’t intervene in the Dark Angels affairs.
He sat and thought again. Who else had the technology or the ability to reach into Garrens mind and keep him from death? The Immortal Empire certainly didn’t, this 'Homer Stravor Saviour of the Empire' He kept hearing about didn’t have the ability to do so... though he thought they would of loved to interrogate Garren for why he attacked... Unless... The Flux. They have the means... But why would they want anything to do with Garren? Unless it was on the IE behalf... that was likely. However he had no proof or leads... Perhaps going to the remains of the system and scanning the auras could help.
Sotek merely got up and stretched, he didn’t need to he just did. And with a brief flash of unlight he disappeared.
The demon appeared floating in space, Xantan was dead, there was no planet from which to observe from and no solid objects to explore. Sadly no bodies or wreckages remained from the super nova of the systems star. Even that was now gone, the whole system had been turned into a very small nebula with no real resources or value, only there to hamper sensors and remind the various peoples that this place had been destroyed by war. Sotek felt the energy here, so many deaths, it invigorated him as he reached out and absorbed some of it. He didn’t need to but he couldn’t help habit, however he wasn’t here for this he could gather the same energy from all over the various battle sites in Ancerious.
He closed his eyes and dug deeper into the energy, it was so thick, so many lives. He gained flickers of memories, sights of the battle and far more by diving and searching in this sea of souls. He spotted a stained soul, one of great cowardice and petty evil. Garrens fragments... He knew he wouldn’t get much, Garren was too much of a fool for his soul to stay intact. However Sotek absorbed the fragments, he didn’t get much, mainly memories of just before his death. However Sotek got one he hadn’t seen.
The image of a women... it was only a snapshot and a very fragmented one at that. He had no idea who she was or why she was there... But she.... she was obviously the perpetrator of this.
Who are you... he thought as he floated. And what do you want with me...
He knew nothing could be garnered here. His associates could help and his sources and network would be set on finding her probably to no avail. Shaw had to know about this... mysterious women. She was probably not a threat however she had dabbled in Soteks toy box and he didn’t like it.
Now he had to make another pawn in the new so called 'Dark Triumvirate' Yet another tedious task...
There was nothing more for him here, And with another flash of darkness, he disappeared.
