Forani System Eos Consortium Space: 8:59am local time
In high orbit above the planet lay a fleet of incredible size, however it was not the fleets numbers that gave it its size but the massive sizes of the ships themselves. Their colossal bulks were graceful in appearance and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. They were pure stark white with golden patches over their hulls. Giant windows and forcefield generators glowed in the vacuum of space and a horde of smaller shuttles and strike craft swarmed around the behemoths. Across the biggest ship in the fleet, which clearly dwarfed the other gargantuan ships was the blazing golden eye of the Eos Consortium. The Dreadnought hung motionless surrounded by its attendant battle fleet of around 45 ships, together they made a force considered a strike fleet by the Consortium. Their mission was recently passed to the High Exemplar of the Dreadnought who was making last minute preparations for the coming operation. A new race had been discovered and first contact had ensued after they were caught spying on the Consortium, as always the race had been greeted graciously and offered a place in Eos light however they had turned the offer down in the name of their own heathen god. Small scout ships had been dispatched after their ship had left to follow its FTL trail and they had discovered a sizeable portion of space was held by the race in question. These scout ships had either been recovered or destroyed and a single system in particular had been chosen for a probing operation. To test the enemy fleets and defences and to determine the chances of a full blown crusade, like that which was being considered against the other race the Consortium had met the 'Union of Worlds'.
The host of smaller ships started to die down and the massive engines on the various colossal ships started to glow bright blue. The last of the shuttles docked and the fleet started to pull away from high anchor over the world. Below the inhabitants waved goodbye and prayed for the victory to come in the name of Eos. As the fleet made its way away from the gravity well of the planet to jump they entered a defensive formation. 45 ships. They raised shields and readied weapons. With an alarm sounding the ships fell in upon themselves and disappeared, leaving the void empty once more.
Alacon System Trinovan space: 7:25pm local time
The Eos strike fleet exited FTL at the edge of the enemy system. The ships immediately deployed strike craft patrols and began scanning the whole system, it was a fairly average system. 4 planets, one inhabited while 3 were relatively left alone. The inhabited system seemed to have 2 star bases and a fleet of 35 ships in orbit. The Eos fleet also detected a enemy monitoring satellite next to their position and detected many more at the edges of the system. One Heavy Escort detached from the formation and with a pulse wave destroyed the small and undefended satellite, it was unmanned but its destruction was top priority. The Eos fleet merely cruised forward, it didn’t make any speed towards the main planet and held its defensive formation with the Heavy Escort quickly rejoining the host of massive ships. The Eos Dreadnought burned retros and came to a stop, they were far from the inhabited world and monumentally out of range for any sort of combat by several hours space travel time. The High Exemplar knew the enemy knew they were here. It was what they would do next that he waited for. The Eos ships were on full station and the attack craft patrols formed a spread out screen. All in all it would take a while for the light of their arrival to reach the enemy. And so.
They waited.
