Shaw idled as he watched the hands of his Pocket watch Tick away in their odd movements, counting down the hours in Reverse for several moments before shifting to forward movements once more in erratic intervals. He sat, resting his weight somewhat on his tail in his drake form. Pausing every now and then to look up at the ceiling of the chamber of Naga’s palace that he was in. it was always an interesting experience to Visit the place, as it brought a sense of Familiarity to the comfortable confines of the interior of his own palace like ship. Hidden far from the prying eyes of the other Races abilities in Ancerious. Including the increasingly prying eyes of the flux. Presently he scowled, putting away the Golden watch within the folds of his dark great coat. Turning his armored and horned head to look at the group of cultists idling about in the Chamber. Some of them wandering the room or down on the ground. Praying to the Draconian of darkness with their odd chants and movements. It had been several hours now, sense he had received a massage from Nagaetros instructing him to Meet the Shadow drake at his palace, and to bring a groups of Cultists along with him.
Naturally he had done so, and he had found very little trouble to their arrival. Save for a short delay with the Drake guards at the doors to the chamber as he had shunted them in. Selecting them had been No problem. He thought. Giving a small Smirk at the thought of how willing the ones he had approached on the situation had been. But he couldn’t help but wonder on what Naga needed them for. it had been some time now, sense the drake had regained a semblance of his normal self, and while he had maintained several peculiarity, including the odd episode. it still wasn't like the drake To leave him uninformed on situations, and it certainly Wasn't like him to be late to meetings he called.
As Shaw sat and pondered a column of black flame erupted in the center of the chamber, reaching for the sky in a rapid, violent vortex and drawing the immediate attention of the cultists who jumped up with fright and awe. The flame dissipated revealing Nagaetros as he stood in the column's center. Naga towered above everyone there and was utterly unmistakable as the draconian of darkness, even if he wasn’t in his true, terrifying form that the cultists might have been told about.
"I see you've done as i requested, Shaw. Excellent." Naga said as some of the cultists had bowed at the draconian's feet
Shaw Stood as the Draconian Appeared in the room, impressed. But otherwise unfazed by the Dramatic appearance of the shadow Drake. Although he took Note of the Cultists Reactions. It had done a fair deal in impressing them, if their Reaction of bowing to the drake was any inclination. Placidly the Time drake walked forward, idly avoiding the cultists as they bowed to Naga. Shunting past them in a burst of Reddish static and appearing in front of him. "Of Couse Naga." He said, giving a slight tilt of his head. " I aim to Deliver what I promise to deliver."
Naga took a step forward and opened his arms wide.
"My children!" He exclaimed, his voice loud enough for all to hear. The cultists looked up in awe and raised their hands in praise.
"You have been chosen by your Lord, my children, for something great. today is the day you meet your destinies and prove your worth in my all seeing eyes, for today, your Lord takes one step closer to dominating all of Ancerious" the cultists let out a cheer and a massive portal, like a doorway, appeared behind the draconian as he spoke, shining and brilliant, truly beautiful. The cultists gasped and cheered once more "prove yourselves to me, my children, and walk through the portal. Meet your destiny. Show to me your faith is strong, and you shall be rewarded for all eternity! So says your god! And so shall it be!"
As Naga concluded his speech the cultists silently rose and began to make their way to the portal, whispering silent prayers to their Lord and master as one by one they disappeared into the light. Naga watched them and turned to face the portal, his fangs bared in a wide grin.
Shaw took a step back to let the Cultists enter the portal, his tail twitching softly, the blades on its tip clinking slightly. Noting the Looks of awe that they gave to Naga as they passed him and entered the Gateway. Giving a slighter Grin of his own as they did. "a Very stirring speech my Lord." he said, keeping his voice too low for the cultists to hear. "Now, if i might inquire. What exactly do you have in mind for all of us here? You’ve never asked me to bring your cultists before."
"All will be revealed in due time, Shaw." Naga replied, taking a sliver of his soulshard and handing it to Shaw. "Place this on your forehead, you'll need it."
Jester appeared from behind Naga, having come from one of the doors to the chamber with the sound of hooves on stone being his only give away.
“You called for me, master?" the small fire drake inquired.
"Yes, you'll be coming with us on our little trip." Naga replied
"A trip, my Lord?! Oh, goody, where to?!" Jester was clearly excited by the notion of travel.
"In due time, Jester, just go through the portal. We’ll be there in a moment" Naga answered, pointing to the glowing doorway with a long, black claw.
Jester giggled with glee and quickly made his way through the portal after the last cultist finally passed through/ now only Shaw and Naga remain in the great chamber.
The Time drake watched with a refined curiosity as the Small Fire drake Made his way through the portal. Before looking at the Shard that Naga had given him. "In due time..." He said. He was not entirely convinced of just what was the nature of their Gathering, but Naga despite his nature. Had never delivered a warning to him that wasn't better unheeded. So gently, He placed the shard in the center of his forehead. "What is this?" He asked about the shard to the Royal standing with him. "What will it do?"
"In due time, Shaw, in due time." Naga chided, making his way to the doorway, disappearing in its glow.
"Time indeed..." Shaw Scowled, Hesitating as the Royal Went into the portal, its light Reflecting off of him, Before Stepping forward and following through it. Looking around as He Exited the other side.
And what he saw was most disheartening.
The portal, once so beautiful and promising, led to a freezing cold cavern that chilled to the bone despite the presence of numerous blazing torches that lined the walls which were much too smooth to be natural. A thin coat of frost covered what seemed to be ancient murals, scenes of conquest and civilization. Columns of ice connected the ceiling high above, all the way down to the floor.
This was truly a miserable chamber made worse by the sight on the far side of the room from where they entered. On the wall, just above a pair of massive, metal doors decorated similarly to the ones found on the high king's palace, rested the decaying corpse of a massive royal drake; crucified by spikes of ice through its arms and a single, large spear of ice jammed into its fanged, deer-like head. A look of intense pain and sadness remained frozen on its rotted face. The corpse was well preserved by the cold, despite its shriveled and skeletal form, Shaw could see several hide carvings stretched over the drake’s flesh, similar to those found on drake priests and shaman.
The cultists had huddled together in the cold, looks of terror on their faces as though they had every desire to scream. Their eyes seemed to be staring off into the distance, as though they saw something that wasn’t there. Jester, who had been so joyous to be traveling, was in the fetal position murmuring to himself about how he doesn’t want to be someone's neighbor. His eyes were wide and his whole body shook. Nagaetros simplywatched and waited, in a fashion comparable to a scavenger waiting to feed.
The Time Drake Took in the scene, turning his head to see details of the chamber that he might have missed, the Cold which clearly was affecting the Cultists going unnoticed by his odd hybrid biology. The place had all of the appeal that one would have likely found deep within an abandoned tomb. Which, for all intensive Purposes it might very well have been. He took a moment to observe the cultists, the vast majority of them still stood huddled, and their eyes staring at unseen things. Some of them had separated from the group. Having been wearing heavily Customized V.E.A. Unit suits whose thermal units had kicked in at the sudden cold. And were currently moving about the chamber. Some of them somewhat aware, others moving in shuffling nervous movements, their heads darting back to look over their shoulders as if watching for something. Looking ready to flee deeper into the Tunnels beyond the cavern at the right provocation. He turned to Jester for a few moments, clearly puzzled by the Drakes sudden Change in mood, before glancing up at the frozen mummy impaled above the door. Wanting to take a closer look.
What he saw instead made him gasp and take a Reflexive Step back.
Gone was the frozen mummy of the royal that had previously occupied the space above the door, in its place instead was another drake. Clad in temporal armor and ragged dark Robes of the likes of which he himself wore and with its wings outstretched its skin and organs had long sense Rotted and aged to dust, the empty sockets of its Ancient skull seeming to peer down directly at him. In place of the spikes of ice, Zeit staffs pierced its body, pinning to the ice wall behind it, worn on its chest was a plaque of brass, draped around neck of the Dead Creature by a chain. The Words "zaten ölü" Engraved into its surface, the sight of it made him Reel. He turned to look at Naga, who was otherwise unchanged. Before looking back at where his dead double had been, only to find that it had vanished as he had turned away.
"What was that?" He asked the royal Pointing at the mummy. The words it had carried still weighting on him. "Naga? Did you just see that?" He asked again. A tone of discomfort clearly in his voice. He had known the words, knew them by heart "Zaten Olü" the Temporian phrase for, "One Who is beyond Redemption." He knew them, because they were his words. His Label. And seeing them here in that dead place had Strike him like a blow.
Naga remained silent, emotionless and uncaring. Just watching quietly as Shaw questioned him. his golden eyes fixed on Shaw like a predator watching its prey.
"Naga?" Shaw asked, not particularly liking the look that the Draconian was giving him. He paused as he took a Defensive step back, turning his head on his neck to look around the chamber and air of tension in his movements. There was a presence, something that was corrupting the very air of the chamber. That much he could tell based just on his sight. "Where have you brought us Nagaetros?" He asked, managing to pull his composition together for a moment.
“I can’t tell you just yet, Shaw. That’s a surprise that's going to have to wait for just a while longer." Naga finally answered, his gaze on Shaw unchanging, a slight growl could be heard coming from his throat.
Some of the cultists had started started to speak to themselves just like Jester had been; some had started rocking back and forth on the cold floor in panic as they continued to stare off into space.
The Time drake looked t the Cultists as they steadily began to degrade into positions and states of Panic that hinged on the verge of mental breakdown. And in the cases of the ones that had managed to wander from the group, Growing hysteria. As they looked over their shoulders in increasingly Jerky movements. the small spotlights mounted on their suits shoulders zigging and zagging back and forth across the chamber. And as he listened closer to the ones that had begun rocking, and while some of them muttered words that seemed almost random, others still muttered phrases that began to sound alike. "He is here...” Some of the muttered, "He knows that "We" are here..." They continued. Presently he wiped his brow. He had held a solid resolution in the face of many things in his life, But here. There was something wrong with this icy tomb and its dark atmosphere.
Movement in the corner of his eye made him turn around to face whatever he thought that he saw. And as he did he gave voice to a strangled cry that caught in his throat. The form standing there was Shadowy, and cloaked by Heavy shadow. its only defining feature being its glowing green eyes, but its body shape told him enough to tell its identity. it was his foe, His Death bringer. Chassavo, standing at the other end of the chamber, illuminated by a sickly green glow. He raised his staff reflexively with a snarl. its components unfolding with a Sound of clockwork and gears.
With a sound of thunder an arc of Reddish energy fired from its spear like tip in the Figures location. But to his own Growing fear, it did little more then pass harmlessly through the other time drakes chest. With another strangled cry at the aspect of not being able to harm the figure. He took another step back, His own Fear growing. Before the figure moved, blurring towards him at a speed impossible to keep up with, and before he could do more then take another mid step back, it had appeared before him, thrusting the Sword like blade of its Sparking Zeit staff into the center of his chest. In that one instant he could practically feel the Pain, Hear the Crunching sound as his shard and rib cage shattered in on themselves. See the blood that immediately began to Flow from the wound. And he found that he couldn’t help the urge to scream. A loud Shriek that echoed in the chamber.
The cultists started to panic as well, though not at what Shaw saw, but their own nightmares come to life. Some had begun to claw at their own skin as though insects had burrowed themselves throughout their bodies and began feasting, others had started a full scale panic, screaming and running as fast as they could from forces unknown. The rest had collapsed, gasping for breath and crying as loud as they could in a total mental breakdown. Naga merely watched as the chaos unfolded and the madness ran rampant. A smirk crossed the draconian's face as he waited patiently.
Shaw hardly noticed the panic that had built up in the chamber didn’t even feel or hear the cultists as they shrieked in response to their terror, or blundered past him, running deeper into the icy Caverns. All his mind could focus on was the Blade that he saw protruding from his chest. And while it was true that to the outside observer that there was none to be seen. To him, it, and the time drake holding it as it glared darkly at him with glowing green eyes. "No...
"He muttered. His eyes still wide. "No. That’s... That’s not possible. It can’t be possible... I did everything. Did everything right, things are in their place. How do you keep...." He Gasped. His mind still reeling. "Why can’t, I, Kill you!? Why, cant, I... Escape you!?" He yelled out. His eyes rolling back as his mind finally Shut it down in the face of what he was seeing. The time drake’s knees giving out under him as his body slumped.
