Xtopher Entered the Chamber outside of the drake throne room through a gateway tear, which closes behind him, Accompanied by two war caste Calvara. “Is this the palace of King Helios?...” the calvara asked a guard
one of the guards stepped forth from his post at the great door to the throne room towards the 3 calvara and stared at them with his eyeless helmet and leaned on his staff.
"it is the court of High King Helios, correct. what brings you here?" the guard answered.
Xtopher Regarded the Guard, taking note of his eyeless helmet and armor, before nodding in acknowledgement and replying. “I am Xtopher, Colonial Administrator of the Tenebrean colonies of ancerious, an ally of your king. I wish to speak with him on several topics, some of which. I’m afraid, might not be for your ears..."
The guard leaned in and sniffed Xtopher, then gave the other two calvara quick but thorough glances. "Very well, you may meet with High King Helios." the guard motioned to the other who had remained at the door's side to allow the three inside. With a tap of the guard's staff, the great doors began to open on their own, waiting for the guests to enter.
Xtopher watched as the doors opened, before motioning to his two guards to follow him inside, The War-Caste calvare giving the Drake guards equally quick glances as they walked past, one of them giving a slight nod. Xtopher entered the chamber beyond the doors, looking around quickly at the Room and its Fixtures, before Regarding the Drake King on his throne.
The doors began to close behind them as Helios noticed his company enter the massive chamber, motioning away the screen floating in front of him which disappears in a flicker.
"Ah, Xtopher!, it's a pleasure seeing you again, although to be honest I wasn’t expecting company today. So, why have you come? It’s nothing serious I hope, bringing warriors with you and all that." Helios smiled and sat up on his throne.
"Of course." Xtopher responded with a nod. "They're only with me as an adherence to Protocol. It's a Pleasure to see you again as well Helios." He said as the doors close behind him and his guards with a thud. Xtopher looking up at the drake. "A proper explanation of me being here is required I understand. I'm here to speak to you on the development of your colonies and to perhaps help you establish connections..." He regarded the king. "I understand from a source that you’re seeking to expand relations."
"Yes, as a matter of fact I am." Helios replied "our colony has been properly established and we are ready to begin expansion using the Draconis colony as a hub for trade and relations, all we need now is make use of this opportunity we been handed."
"Which is why I'm here to offer our hand to help in that matter." Xtopher said in response. "As an established power in Ancerious, We have multiple connections with many of the powers present; I would be more then open to starting trade with your people, and providing connections to other empires Leaders so that you might begin trade routes with them."
Helios smiled revealing his large, white, dog like fangs. "Excellent, Xtopher! Just what I wanted to hear!" Helios let out a laugh. “Just what I needed in fact."
"For both of our peoples no doubt." Xtopher said, tilting back his lower jaw in as close of an expression of a grin he could manage. "There are of course still questions and Matters to be attended to on the subject, but I think that with time we can work those matters out..." He paused, waiting for the royals Reaction.
“of course, I’ll gladly discuss such matters with you. We will take care of these in due time" Helios answered as he stood from his throne, towering over the three calvera.
"Thank you for taking the time. Lord Helios." Xtopher said as he regarded the drake that towered over them, the two War caste calvara now moving in his response. But he could sense the two tense a bit at the royal. He raised his hand slightly, sending them a Aural command not to draw arms against him. Without a word they relaxed their stance. “There is much going on in terms of our current war. But that is not an excuse to allow our trade and economy to go stagnant and our people to cut themselves off from each other."
"Absolutely, Xtopher. there is more to life than preparing for war, and your people could use all the help they can get, even that which leads to no enemy casualties." he laughs," I assume your comrades are not used to visiting other races, or this war has made them weary. Either way, it makes no difference to me."
"I can only assume that conflict has dulled their trust and only served to sharpen their Fear." the Administrative calvara said, shifting his armored shoulders in a shrug. "The Terrorist attacks on the systems of my people do not help the matter." He shakes his head with a resigned look to the movement. "But those are not issues that we need to concern ourselves on at the present. Now, about these trade agreements. I assume that your people have ways to transport large amounts of materials across the distance between worlds?"
“My people have ways, Xtopher, in fact our portals make world to world travel as easy as walking down a street. Such matters are of no concern for the drakes. All we would need to do is arrange for a few portals to be opened at select trading ports and arrange protection for said portals. After all, we certainly wouldn’t want little Timmy getting stuck in the drake world" Helios joked.
"Well neither of us would want that..." The administrative calvara said with a sight chuckle. "Personally I always thought that little Timmy was dumb as dirt when it came to those situations. Tenebreans are a bit wiser in that aspect." He joked in return. "Arranging the entry ways for the portals should be easy enough to do. We have Gateway technology as well, Stabilizers for the portals can be built in order strengthen the link if need be." He paused. "And we have several hub systems and trading ports that would make prime locations for these new routes."
“Sounds ideal, but best avoid trying to alter or manipulate the portals yourselves, they are not as simple as they sound and don’t like being forced to work. We wouldn’t want a shipment to wind up at the bottom of an ocean, would we? But yes, that sounds most excellent. I will make the arrangements as soon as I can." Helios' tail flicked from side to side like a cat's tail as he began to calmly pace back and forth.
Xtophers glowing glass like eyes followed the drake as he paced, his honor guards doing the same. "That we would not, although the Deepwater Salvagers would have a field day at such luck. We'll conference with your people on how to work with the portals, if need be, so such things don’t happen." He paused as he started to walk towards the drake king, pausing after a few steps. "Arrangements on our ends can begin immediately... And Trade arrangements can be established on the same day."
Helios stopped in front of Xtopher and looked down at him and the others. "good, we can schedule a meeting later but first-" Helios was interrupted by the sound of opening doors as a female royal drake in green, shining, glass like armor and robes gracefully, but still with an air of power to her, made her way into the throne room
Xtopher regarded the royal for a moment as he stood in front of him; He was not as tall as the Drake. Being less than a foot and a half shorter than him, And was forced to tilt his neck joints to regard him better, Keeping his posture solid as he did, his Arcaine Lance Held in his clawed right hand in a relaxed stance that still spoke of his own authority among his own race. "Of course." He said, before turning to follow the gaze of the royal as the female royal entered the room. Regarding her quietly, taking note of her glass like armor.
“I see we have company." The female said sternly as she approached Helios and the others.
“Yes, this is Xtopher, from the DCI. He's come to discuss our agreements with his empire." Helios replied
"Madame." Xtopher said, nodding and bowing slightly in respect to the Female royal. His two honor guards doing the same where they stood behind him in the room.
The female stared at Xtopher and the others, her face expressionless and unimpressed by their gesture. "It’s odd how our guest brings armed soldiers to a supposedly peaceful meeting with a king."
"There is a war currently between my people and others." the Administrative calvara replied, looking at her with an expression of Measurement. "Our enemies have displayed an odd Tact for making strikes to areas deep within our territories. Our Aural systems cannot detect their presence for reasons we cannot yet understand. Naturally Precautions have to be taken..." He makes a gesture to his two guards, who kneel in respect at her addressing them. "Although their Assassins may find their efforts wasted."
" it would indeed be a wasted effort." she smirked, turning to Helios to say something in Drake which he quickly replied and motioned her closer, placing his arm around her shoulder like one would a shy sibling, continuing his reply with her in drake then returning his attention to the calvera.
“I apologize for Circe, she's not very comfortable around new people."
"There is no offense that has been taken." Xtopher saying, taking a split second to note the reaction of the Drake queen as Helios put an arm around her. Listening to their conversation in the odd language of their species, Activation the photonic internment systems built into his Administrative Versus tool. Nodding to Circe in a respectful manner. "I am pleased to make your acquaintance, Queen of drakes." He said.
“And I suppose it's a pleasure to meet you, Xtopher. Although I hope your presence here doesn’t mean you wish for the drakes to participate in your little war." Circe replied.
"We would not ask such things from your people... Not while our Alliance is still so young." The Administrative calvara Responded. "But we cannot ignore, nor can we deny the fact that the war is pressing our empire to a large degree, your King has seen the effects of that. But we would not ask your people to fight for our cause. That decision is all your own, we do not force our allies hand in matters of war."
Circe smiled, “good, the drakes do not need to get involved in a war of mortal interests" Helios told her something in drake which she replied to with a smirk.
Xtopher paused, looking first at Helios, Then at Circe, giving her a look of vague curiosity and measurement before speaking again. He was not used to the concept of him not entirely understanding the Speakers at meetings he was privy to attend, and was restraining well his wariness of the situation. "It’s not so much a war of mortal Interests; we’re not fighting for power, Territories, Resources, or slaves to boost our Thoughts of ourselves. We're fighting for simple survival of our Races Colonies in Ancerious. We Were Attacked without Provocation. And We Aptly Responded."
Circe chuckled, "this case of 'survival' is every mortal's war. Your enemies could make the same argument" Circe's eyes gave a quick, bright shine. "And the end result shall be the same as well" she gave a glance to Helios.
Xtopher regarded her momentarily, Curious at her and her statement. "And what of your Race? You speak of yourselves in a light of which Renders you above "mortals?" if Survival is a Driving factor for mortal wars, what are the driving factors for yours? Or have your people moved past such things..."
“War, in some form, is always present. Let no one tell you otherwise. My race may not have the same needs or instincts as yours and many others, but everything wants to survive, even immortals." Circe replied.
"Drakes are not, by any meaning of the words, a young race, Xtopher. Many of us have lived millions of years individually and fought in many battles of our own. Things are just different for us than what you may be used to. I hope you understand" Helios followed.
Xtopher Paused as he considered this, finally responding with a simple nod a few moments later. "Yes, Yes. I suppose that stands to be true." He looked at Circe for a moment, nodding his head in a gesture of thanks. "Thank you for the clarification. Although..." He turned to regard Helios for a moment. "We might surprise you yet in what we expect from new races, age and experience do change a Peoples Perspective over time."
" I don’t deny that you've met many diverse races, Xtopher, the omniverse creates many unique and diverse creatures. But drakes hold many surprises, even to the experienced" Helios replied with a smile.
"I wouldn’t be very surprised at that." Xtopher said. "The Fact that you opened a portal into a Sector that was dimensionally Locked To Prevent that tells us much about that fact." the calvara Chuckled a bit before giving a nod.
Helios chuckled and gave a friendly nod.
"Ah, yes, I apologize for that, there isn’t much other than a drake's own magic that can stop a drake portal from being made. i was unaware such a blockade was in place. All I can say in that regard is to trust us as allies that we won’t do anything wrong. And if you ever suspect any misdeeds, inform my guards and the culprit shall be tracked down. That much we can and will do." Helios motioned to the door on the far left. "Now, shall we get back to business?"
Xtopher chuckled. "Think nothing of it..." He said, putting up a hand in a gesture of casual Dismissal. "Truth be told, Things were so hectic in Erdani that if you had entered the Traditional Way, Well. Then you would most likely still be waiting to meet me... Red tape. It seems to exist in every Race."
