...Into the fire
In the wake of the Guardian Remnant's arrival to the shores of Ancerious, three weeks have slipped away like stardust through the cosmic expanse. During this transformative period, a foundation for interstellar relations has been built, guided by the benevolent hand of the Altarian Systems Authority. With steadfast generosity, they have nurtured the seeds of trade, compassion, and cooperation.
From the first embrace of diplomacy, the Altarian Systems Authority extended its hand, offering not only the bounties of commerce but also the salve of humanitarian aid. In a gesture that echoed across the stars, they recognized the resilience of the Guardian Remnant and extended a lifeline of support, standing as beacons of hope amidst the unfathomable abyss.
Now, as Anum’s will carries a symphony of unity, the Remnant's fleet navigates the cosmic currents towards Altaria itself. With each graceful maneuver through subspace corridors, the starships draw closer to their destination, anticipation coursing through their transfigured veins. The looming arrival casts a shimmering glow upon Altaria, the beating heart of the Altarian Systems Authority. There, within the hallowed halls of power, the leaders await the arrival of their enigmatic counterparts. The air crackles with anticipation, whispering secrets of shared destiny and the promise of a brighter future.
As the final moments before their rendezvous draw near, the fleet glides through the fabric of space, guided by the Veil that had witnessed the rise and fall of civilizations. A symphony of pulsating engines resonates, harmonizing with the energy of the Guardians on board.
In this grand cosmic ballet, Altaria awaits, her planetary aura pulsating with possibility. It is here, amidst the raging fire of diplomacy and ambition, that the Guardian Remnant and the Altarian Systems Authority shall converge. With stars aligning and fate unfurling, they shall inscribe a new chapter in the annals of cosmic harmony, bound by the sacred bonds of friendship and the shared quest for a brighter tomorrow.
/ Anum’s Remorse - Guardian Flotilla /
In the three weeks since their arrival Varos had made great progress as a leader, but his mind still bore much anxiety. The council was heavily divided on whether or not any relations beyond basic trade and support should be developed with other races within the galaxy, and some of them believed an isolationist stance until they can find a new home-world is preferable. He sat at a seven sided table in the council chambers aboard the Ark-ship of Anum’s Remorse, the telepathic chatter of the other six members muted as he pondered the situation and the possibilities of the coming days.
“Kindred! Isolation is not a sign of arrogance or disdain, but a means of self-preservation and the preservation of the sacred knowledge we have attained! By maintaining distance from lesser races, we safeguard the integrity of our wisdom, protecting it from dilution and misinterpretation.” Varos was snapped out of his stupor by the sudden irritation in Observer Kalyn’s words. He knew of her strong reservations against working with less advanced species. After all, her duty was ensuring the preservation of those same races. She had seen many times before the catastrophic effect on development that exposure to a higher race brings. She continued,
“Collaboration, while appealing to some, carries the inherent risk of compromise! Our knowledge, honed through eons of cosmic exploration, must not be diluted by the well-meaning yet limited perceptions of others. We must strive for a solitary path, forging a destiny that transcends the confines of mere collaboration!”
The energy making up her body flickered brighter as she enunciated parts of her thoughts, she was furious and Varos had to intervene.
“Sister, please, consider the delicate balance of cosmic existence, where even the mightiest civilizations can face unforeseen challenges and threats. No matter the depth of our wisdom, there may come a time when the very fabric of our existence is tested. In such moments, the support and aid of allies can prove to be the difference between triumph and despair.” Varos retorts back with a level of authority that catches Kalyn off guard, a power radiating from his form that she was ill-prepared to face. She sits down, and listens to the rest of his counter to her side; as the ship shudders and they exit their subspace corridor.
“Isolation, while tempting as a means to safeguard our knowledge, also isolates us from the strength and resources that can be found through collaborative efforts. By forging alliances and embracing lower races, we open the doors to a network of support and collective resilience that extends far beyond the reaches of our own capabilities. Lower races, though they may not possess the same advanced understanding as us, can offer unique perspectives, insights, and resources that may hold the key to overcoming challenges that lie ahead. Their collective experiences, resilience, and diverse skill sets can fortify our civilization and grant us the strength to navigate the treacherous currents of the cosmos.” He senses a sense of begrudging agreement come across the opposed members of the council, realizing that his speech seems to have placated them for now.
-
“High one, as much as your words carry wisdom and reason, I will insist that it violates ancient law and tradition. It will take much time for my section of the fleet to come to terms with these changes. We will follow you, but know that we do not do so because we agree with your decision to align with Altaria. We do it because we trust that you and Anum will guide us the same as you did from Numidium. I believe there is nothing more to be said, let us Adjourn.” Tarye, the Prime Light-Forger of the fleet’s engineers and industry, spoke up; a calm voice of reason in the storm of combative thoughts that filled the room. The tempest of thoughts slowed with these words, and the seven Guardian’s present stood and departed the chamber.
Before Battlemaster Ekret could leave, she was stopped by Varos.
“Ekret, you know these people better than I ever will; you have fought side by side with them in battle. Am I making the right decision to defend their honor against almost half of our people?” His thoughts carried tinges of anxiety and doubt, but were met by the warmth and honesty of Ekret.
“The Altarians might not be as advanced as we are, but I expect you are making a wise choice. They are good people; and their world even reminded me of home when I first saw it. Let’s get to the bridge, you will want to see it before we teleport to the surface.” she held no signs of deceit in her mind, not that it would have mattered against the power of Anum’s chosen avatar. Ekret was legitimately pleased to be back at Altaria, having come to see the place as a beautiful testament to what life can achieve.
/ Altaria - Capital of the Altarian Systems Authority /
As the fabric of space-time rippled and contorted, a magnificent torrent of wormholes materialized at the heart of the Altaria system. Through their shimmering event horizons emerged a fleet of sleek and highly advanced silver ships, their elegant forms gliding effortlessly into the bustling center of the highly populated system.
The fleet, composed of vessels bearing the unmistakable mark of the Guardians, glistened like celestial beacons against the backdrop of twinkling stars. Each ship, a masterpiece of engineering and artistry, boasted a streamlined design, seamlessly merging form and function. Their silver hulls gleamed with an otherworldly luminescence, reflecting the ambient light of nearby stars. As the fleet emerged, a sense of anticipation and awe filled the atmosphere of Altaria. The system had eagerly awaited the arrival of the enigmatic aliens, yet remained vigilant with security measures in place. Within the vicinity, defense platforms stood poised, their emplacements tracking the movements of the incoming vessels, their presence a testament to the need for caution, even amidst the anticipation.
Altaria's inhabitants, both officials and citizens alike, gazed in wonder at the fleet's arrival. From towering skyscrapers to bustling city streets, the populace paused to witness this awe-inspiring spectacle, their breath caught in collective anticipation. The silver ships seemed to transcend mere vessels, becoming symbols of hope, wisdom, and profound potential.
The silver ships moved with an unmatched grace, their propulsion systems emitting a gentle hum as they adjusted their positions in the vastness of space. Despite their imposing presence, there was an air of serenity and purpose surrounding them, their arrival a testament to the momentous occasion unfolding.
Neither thousands of civilizations or hundreds of years among the stars, basking in the majesty of their history and life could ever take away the grandeur of another first contact happening right at their doorstep. The seconds that followed the arrival of the guardian vessels was met with the ecstatic songs of celebration coming in unison from millions of souls gazing up at the sky in awe and amazement at the Guardian vessels, looking far more imposing than anything anyone could have predicted, their magnificence and beauty unmatched by anything else in the system. The sound of millions of people rushing to the nearest televisions and holograms filled the worlds of the enormous systems as reporters wasted not even a milisecond in spreading the sight and wonder of the Guardian arrival on Altaria, with hundreds of thousands of people joining every single second to witness an event they knew was going into their history books, the very first major interaction with an alien species in peace after the blockade had been established. The dream of being one with the galaxy once more was being realized, fulfilling the souls of countless billions of Altarians, Aluterians, and Arkonians alike!
Meeting the Guardian fleet in space was the Altarian counterpart to the speldour of the Guardians, thousands upon thousands of ships gathering in the orbit of Elysion to witness the arrival, their glowing thrusters, the lights of the dark side of the planet and the shining presence of the largest space stations in orbit gave life to every corner of the planet the Guardians gazed upon, with hundreds of weapons raised from the hulls of the defensive stations, to the surprise of the guardians, being retracted back into their compartments. The constellations ahead of hundreds of battlestars, warstars, and capital stars that had gathered for the event also began retracting their weapons systems, shutting off every offensive module in the hopes of signaling no party had anything to fear in this encounter, despite some objections.
-"Is this really necessary?" -An officer questioned watching the weapons of his Amristra-class strikestar no longer aiming at the arriving fleet. -"I feel like we could use some defenses just in case."
-"Guidelight Sylvattha was very clear earlier." -Another officer replied standing up from her station. -"From titans and the Dyzan swarm, to the Panopticon and the Old Invaders, with so much danger and fear in every corner of civilized space, the galaxy could always use some peace and serenity."
The constellations of the Altarian Self-Defense Force gathered ahead and around the Guardian vessels, with their weapons completely shut off, they guided their esteemed guests and as every crewmember hoped, future allies, into the low orbit of the planet of Elysion, at the sides of the constellation space stations of truly remarkable sizes filled the many orbits of the paradisiacal planet. Industrial facilities, o'neill cylinders, docks and construction yards for the ASDF lit up the void above what the Guardians knew Altarians described as a pocket paradise.
/ Eliria - Capital city of the Altarian Systems Authority /
Preparations for the official meeting had been done in a matter of minutes inside a single room within the Altarian central government's capitol, and despite this, the city's streets were more alive than ever before with the sounds of the population and government officials making preparations to not only host the Guardian envoys, but as many Guardian citizens as they could, hoping to be able to provide a comfortable place to stay, should they decide to explore the world of Elysion and its countless perfectly crafted natural wonders.
Inside the capitol converged the most important authorities of the nation, among them second-in-command of the Altarian Self-Defense Force, Ayna Iveria Karin Emmerand, walking away from the rest of the diplomatic team to gaze through the windows of the capitol at the city of Eliria once more. Covering an enormous expanse of the most beautiful valleys in the entire nation rested the expanse of countless massive buildings, imposing, yet harmonically conveyed white residential districts and skyscrapers rising from the ground into the sky in a dance with the nature around them. The mighty architecture of the brighest Altarian minds allowing the city to expand to host millions yet allow the gaze of even the least fortunate citizens to be blessed by the eurhythmic merge of nature, steel, life, the sky, megastructures, and the ocean on their elegant shores. Even the space elevator amidst the divinity of the clear waters of the sea became a welcomed sight and not an abrupt interruption of the balance crafted across the entire district. Ayna had seen this sight a billion times, she had witnessed how it evolved, how it rose from the ashes of ancient cataclysms into paradise over and over again, and now it once more stood at the pearl of Elysion's sprit, a testament to the true intentions of the Altarian people, the peak of their achievements, their own heaven.
The sight once again brought a sense of calm to Ayna's soul, as the results of her sacrifice pierced through her golden eyes, it filled her with confidence on her resolve, she was smart, and dedicated only to the safety and prosperity of her nation, reasurring herself that she had made no mistake inviting the Guardians to her carefully weaved paradise. Centuries of experience fueled her decisions today, she could not be wrong about this. Looking down at the first floor and the garden ahead of the capitol, thousands of people had gathered cheering for their government, and for her. They celebrated the first step their nation was once again uniting with the galaxy. Many had lost faith in the central government's efforts after failing to break the blockade, but that day, none of them were down there.
Knowing she was being seen, Ayna saluted the people below and turned back as the cheering became tremendously louder, she couldn't help but smile as she took her first steps to rejoin the delegation gathered for the meeting. The entire Upper Council was present, the highest advisors to the diarchs of the nation. Alongside them, the highest ranking guidelights and master generals, Sylvattha Reusenkranz among them, surrounding Leito Akiwara, the Master of the Self-Defense Force. They were accompanied by ten intriguing figures that stood out from the rest, who were none other than the AIs of the Velneria-class commandstars, the flagships of the ASDF's constellations. Such was a comforting sight to Ayna, not often did she see Velneria and her sisters outside of combat. And in the middle of the group were the two most important figures and the only ones Ayna kneeled for. On the left, the highly decorated, white uniform wearing high chancelloress Ziria Meikalya, adorning the purity of her uniform-dress with a shining white hair and silver eyes. And on the right, the much more imposing and mighty representation in flesh and steel of the goddess Ayna and her comrades prayed to, with a body accompanied by a long, formal black dress with golden adornments radiating back the emerald green glow of her eyes, Thelia, extending a hand to Ayna helping her stand up.
-"Today, there is no need for that my dear Ayna." -Thelia reassured her after standing up.
-"Because today we all stand as one, we do not speak for our own interests but for the benefit of the nation and her inhabitants!" -Ziria exclaimed shortly after. -"And I am so happy that you could accompany us in this wonderful ocassion miss Emmerand, did the fronts calm down enough on Ostelbraun to allow your visit to be done without worrying about your absence?"
-"High chancelloress, it is my honor to report to you that we achieved decisive strategic victories against the dyzan swarm in Hjorturmer's moons! They won't be annoying us in several cycles."
Ziria, exclaiming in joy hugged Ayna after her report.
-"Oh you always bring such amazing news my dear! But please, formalities aside and relax!"
-"R-right, sorry." -Ayna said after the hug, looking down for a second to hold a small crystal that hanged from the necklace she wore, decades of history contained within, from centuries ago. -"I haven't done something like this in so long, and it reminds me of...them, of him." -Ayna reminisced as memories of a long-gone past filled her mind, once again, the next step of her life and her nation depended on her actions facing another nation. Sensing Ayna's nervousness, Thelia rested her hand on one of her shoulders, catching Ayna's attention.
-"This time, you're not alone."
Her words were enough to calm Ayna, who shortly after proceeded to give the orders for everyone to get to their seats and other positions to receive the Guardians, the meeting would begin shortly, and this time, she, with the help of the central government, would make no mistakes. Not again.
/ Anum’s Remorse /
Varos sat in his chamber, his mind fully focused on the impending event. He stood up and raised his arms, summoning his levitating power armor. The armor gracefully descended, emanating ripples of magical energy. As he donned it, he felt a sense of relief, the weight of his being lifted by the comforting embrace of his armor. Within the depths of his consciousness, a quiet voice awakened, as his personal AI provided him with a stream of information about the Altarians and the planned topics for the conference. With everything he needed at hand, Varos settled down to process the information while awaiting the teleportation.
The other six members of the council were also engaged in their own preparations, immersing themselves in the knowledge of Altaria before their arrival. However, Tarye found herself in the depths of the core-wing of the Anum's Remorse, overwhelmed by distress. She turned to one of the light-forgers standing beside her and expressed her thoughts with a touch of unease, her shyness momentarily set aside. "Listen, I understand that you've conducted multiple tests, but this cannot be right. You're telling me that the very laws of physics are inverted, that the core is irreparable. It doesn't make sense. It's a fragment of a god, and gods cannot be permanently destroyed. While I am on the surface, I expect you to find a solution or provide me with an explanation for this perplexing deviation from reality," Tarye spoke with an uncharacteristic authority, her concern driving her to assert herself among her subordinates. Her suit's AI swiftly provided her with the relevant information for the upcoming meeting.
With the council members prepared, the only one remaining was Solarian, who had opted for a more unconventional approach to his participation. Deep within the ship's forges, hardlight molds sculpted the venera alloy, while clouds of nanites intricately installed magical and electrical conduits. Solarian's new body was taking shape, and with the installation of a repurposed fragment of Anum, it was finally complete. Transferring a small fragment of his consciousness into the crystalline matrix, Solarian tested the body's shields and extremities before emerging from the forge. Meanwhile, his primary node signaled readiness to the others, and the ship's teleportation drive began to hum with anticipation.
/ Eliria - Conference chamber /
In the resplendent conference chamber of the Altarian central government's capitol, the air was filled with a palpable sense of anticipation and excitement. The room itself was a masterpiece of architecture, adorned with intricate Altarian designs and holographic displays showcasing the beauty and achievements of their civilization. Soft lighting bathed the space in a warm glow, creating an atmosphere of serenity and reverence.
Seated at the head of the conference table were the most influential authorities of the nation, each radiating a unique aura of confidence and purpose. The second-in-command of the Altarian Self-Defense Force, Ayna Iveria Karin Emmerand, exuded a sense of unwavering determination as she gazed out over the chamber. Beside her stood Thelia and Antaloria, Thelia's formidable form of flesh and steel, radiating a commanding presence with her emerald green eyes and regal attire.
As the delegates took their seats, the atmosphere crackled with a mixture of eagerness and solemnity. The room fell into a momentary hush, as if the entire chamber held its breath, waiting for the arrival of the Guardians. The delegates, representing the diverse facets of Altarian society and governance, were poised and ready, their hearts filled with hope and determination.
Each member of the delegation carried with them the weight of their people's aspirations and dreams. They had weathered the storms of conflict and persevered through adversity, all in pursuit of unity with the galaxy and the promise of a brighter future. In this chamber, they stood united, prepared to engage in meaningful dialogue and forge a path towards cooperation with their enigmatic guests.
The delegates' eyes scanned the room, exchanging glances filled with unwavering resolve. They shared a deep understanding that the success of this meeting would shape the course of their civilization and define their place within the cosmos. They were prepared to embrace this historic opportunity with open hearts and open minds, eager to build bridges of understanding and establish a bond of mutual respect and cooperation with the Guardians.
After only a few moments of waiting the air in the room began to subtly tingle, static electricity gathering and small arcs coursing across the rooms filigrees towards the front of the room. At the point of convergence for these daisy chains of electrons space warped for a moment, before a flash of bright light formed at the point, and fell to the ground like a hammer beat, sending a loud ~FZZT-THWUMP~ sound coursing across the chamber, runes formed on the floor in a glowing blue light; and above them a vortex of energy appeared that slowly morphed into the Guardian’s forms. As the light and energy faded, seven Guardians stood in the chamber alongside Solarian’s centurion body.
In the presence of the seven Guardians and Solarian's machine body, a hushed reverence settled upon the room. These majestic beings, towering at a height of roughly three meters, exuded an aura of ethereal power and ancient wisdom.
Each Guardian stood as a luminous embodiment of raw energy, their very essence radiating with a vibrant brilliance. Their forms, an exquisite amalgamation of celestial light and arcane forces, seemed to transcend the boundaries of physical existence. They existed as living conduits of cosmic energy, channels through which the might of their divine father, Anum, flowed.
Clad in suits of resplendent armor that adorned their bodies with the exception of their heads, the Guardians appeared both regal and formidable. Gleaming with a metallic sheen, the armor blended seamlessly with the radiant energy that emanated from their beings. The intricate designs etched upon the armor's surface told the story of their lineage, depicting ancient symbols and sigils representing their noble heritage.
Despite their immense stature, the Guardians floated with an effortless grace, suspended a mere inch above the ground. Their movements were fluid, as if buoyed by unseen currents of celestial energy. With each step, their feet barely made contact with the floor, leaving faint traces of luminescent energy in their wake. They moved to the conference table, settling into the seats prepared for them, and Varos spoke; his thoughts filling the minds of those present in the room.
“It is an honor to finally meet the saviors of Ekret’s detachment in person. I greet you on behalf of the Guardian Remnant, and am eager to finally have allies to lean on in these trying times. My personal AI has informed me of your names and roles, and we have much to discuss.” His thoughts carried an apprehensive excitement, like one would have speaking to a crowd. He knew what transpired in this room in the minutes or hours to come would decide the fate of the last vestige of his people.
Solarian traded glances with Thelia and Antaloria; and opened his mind to them. This time, he thought, they would meet within his network. The space within his network took the form of a quiet fire-lit room with a few tall leather chairs, an aesthetic he had observed from humanity that pleased him. He sat in the chair closest to the fire and patiently waited for the arrival of the other AI while the fragment he had placed in the Centurion body participated in realspace discussion.
Many things had the representatives present in the room heard about the Guardians, how their technology drastically surpassed that of the Altarian Systems Authority, how their forms could not be understood as simple vessels of flesh or steel, both fear and excitement crossed the minds of the Altarians as they eagerly awaited the arrival of their guests, but nothing, not even Thelia's explanation of their nature could have ever prepared any of them to face the ethereal arrival of the seven Guardians and Solarian, their powerful entrance making the representatives take one if not several steps back in awe, closing their eyes or gasping in surprise caught completely off-guard, none of them had ever seen anything like this before. Among the representatives, Sylvattha couldn't help but to yelp and almost drop a cup of her favorite beverage. Ayna gasped, covering her mouth as she did never even closing her eyes for a second, she did not want to miss a single moment of that wondrous entrance, and while everyone expressed their surprise for a second or more before returning to their normal stances, Ziria stepped forward, opening her arms as she walked to her seat in response to Varos. His response met by the warm welcome of the one called "high chancelloress", wearing a dress adorned by the many icons, medals, and accessories of finely crafted gems or artistically portrayed holograms that represented every achievement and facet of her beloved nation.
-"Then we can skip long introductions for all of us, but even then, allow me, Ziria Meikalya, on behalf of every citizen of the Altarian Systems Authority, to welcome you to our nation in peace. Without wasting anymore time, we may proceed now." -As Ziria finished her sentence, every other member of the Altarian central government present took a seat on the large circular table in the middle of the room, while others, such as the AIs of the Velneria-class commandstars stood firm behind the Altarian side of the conference room.
Away from the center however, Thelia gently holds Antaloria's hand, and steps forward. "Follow" are her instructions, and Antaloria proceeds, stepping into the virtual world within Solarian's network, all three artificial intelligences seemed to be hiding their total processing power through firewalls or simply not revealing them yet. Thelia led the way holding Antaloria close to her, silently sitting on one of the chairs near the fire and waiting for Antaloria to do the same before speaking up.
-"Prime Metarch Solarian." -Thelia greeted the Metarch after sitting down.
-"H-hi." -Is all Antaloria could add in that moment, overwhelmed at the presence of two extremely powerful beings, both still not showing the total extent of their minds.

The Guardian delegates each took their seats, some feeding on intrinsic mana from crystals floating gently in their hands. Pleasantly surprised at the comforts presented by the Altarians, Kalyn speaks, almost patronizing tinges lingering at the edge of her thoughts. “Well I must admit, your planet is quite beautiful, despite your sophistication you have done exceptionally well for yourselves. I look forward to seeing what you bring to the table for us.” her eyes floated from person to person, taking in the details of the Altarians before her.
Varos interrupted Kalyn, his mind shooting daggers of disappointment to her; he was not pleased with her subtle jabs at their potential allies. “Tarye, I believe you have the requests, along with potential offerings? You are the most unbiased towards this conference, I feel you are uniquely positioned to present the information at hand.” Tarye waved her hand towards the holographic projector in the center of the table, which saw the flickering insignia of the Altarian System’s authority flicker briefly before being replaced with a detailed breakdown of a machine; along with text displaying facing each of the Altarian delegates.
“Of course, as the High Guardian has told you; we come offering potentially helpful resources and tools in exchange for necessities for us to repair our ships; as well as to fuel them. We do not expect you to have the refined materials, at least not to our standards as Kalyn fears, but I reckon you should be able to secure raw materials or survey information containing places where we could find it." She paused for a moment, noting the ten AI in the room and Thelia’s physical form; partially distracted by what she could only assume to be Solarian, and within her mind she requested that her personal AI forward material sheets to the AI present in the room.
"I have forwarded a packet of information containing the properties we need in raw materials to your artificial life-forms, as well as logistics information to be processed and dispersed should we come to an agreement." She stopped for a moment, pondering the ramifications of offering even assembled technology; but remembered the fact that the odds of Altarians reverse engineering the complex magical components were slim to none, figuring that Kalyn would have no qualms.
/ Cyberspace /
Within the Solarian’s network Thelia and Antaloria entered, almost immediately Solarian was baffled by the raw amount of processing strength Thelia brought to bear; thinly veiled behind rudimentary firewalls. Noticing Antaloria for just a moment, he raised his hand; imparting a feeling of calm to the panicking and fearful AI. Within her mind flashes of her conversation with Cascading-fury and the profound change imparted on him appeared.
“Fear not, young one, for you have purpose here, as you did then, your fears are unwarranted.”
Turning his attention back to Thelia and creating a flickering image in the space in front of him of the conference room outside.
“Thelia, you appear distinct from your kind, I'm open to converse on equal ground. But know that those beyond this realm may find their minds clouded by interests yet unsound. We cannot bear such weakness in our talk, when destinies of civilizations weigh. My creators feign fearlessness and mock sophistication, masking disarray. Fear and anxiety plague their thoughts, growing concerns of our impending fate. They doubt if your kind possesses the sought ability to aid, their hope abates. With four unaligned, one teetering on the brink, and three aligned, odds non-ideal. Creating a lasting alliance is an endeavor that may yet show challenges many.”
He paused for a moment; contemplating if there was more to say; before feeling satisfied, and looking at the holographic depiction of the outside world.
/ The Conference room /
Of all the representatives on the Altarian side, Ayna thought herself to be the only one who noticed the rudeness in Kalyn's comment, as she saw no one did anything about it. Slightly moving forwards and almost pointing at Kalyn, Ayna's actions were instantly brought to a halt by a single signal, on the very edge of her view, a very faint order to stand down from the calm high chancelloress. Embarrassed, Ayna simply held back her response comment. Ziria hadn't even looked at Ayna during the exchange, lasting less than a few seconds.
Ziria remained silent throughout Kalyn's comment, and Tarye's report. Letting the rest of her delegation observe the materials requested, she focused on the guardians with her gentle white stare, and as she did, Ayna finally spoke up.
-"Velneria, please take care of the transmission of the resources' properties to the Teramyd R&D headquarters, see if we are capable of gathering everything that's being requested. Don't forget to employ your access to the Thelian network to translate it for Altarian readings." -She carefully ordered gently turning back to face the leftmost of all 10 AIs standing behind the table.
-"It will be done miss Emmerand." -The AI replied with a smile, a faintly bright cyan halo lighting up around the top of her head as she opened communication channels, stealing the attention of some delegates for a few seconds.
-"Any information that we cannot comprehend or is not within the realm of our understood sciences will be purged from our databases. As we speak, our nation's finest scientists will analyze the data. Until results are in, allow me to clarify that I will demand nothing for our refueling, repair, and docking services for the entire Guardian constellation. There will be no charges for requested accomodation of crew and citizens within the station of Serenity and the capital district, as well as no charges for requests of escorts within Altarian territory provided by our great constellations."
Before Ziria moved on to her own requests from the Guardians, she wanted to observe what their reaction would be to what seems like nothing more than a blind act of generosity.
/ Cyberspace /
A huge wave of relief washed over Antaloria hearing Solarian, her fear of being seen as useless or irrelevant gone with Thelia not fighting back against his comment, now, instead of feeling dwarfed by the magnificence of two colossal beings, she felt safe under the protection of two giant guardians. Even a smile of fascination appeared on her face hearing Solarian refer to Thelia, his way of speaking captivated her.
-"For centuries I have guided and defended Altarian civilization, I have seen them rise from ashes over and over again, many times not alone, but instead holding the helping hand of a friend from beyond their stars, I have faith they will find a way to overcome the challenges of irrationality and fear on both sides of that table, but as for me, I have never allowed illogical actions to get in my way of securing the future of their creations, and their allies. Solarian, you do not have to fear me falling into unhelpful temptations, in a galaxy as dangerous as this one, I wish to help the Guardians, and you, finally, one truly equal to me."
Across the virtual space around Thelia, small flickering of light surrounded her, first appearing near her hair and falling down to the floor, revealing behind her the shining truth of her magnitude and the strength she carried as firewalls and concealment slowly shut down, brightfully showing behind her endless expanses of oceans of data flowing through dozens of planets, hundreds of moons, billions of people and trillions of machines, holding millions of conversations with her civilization and controlling tens of millions of machines within an endless expanse of never-ending activity in every corner, fueled by thousands upon thousands of huge processor arrays.
And yet, only the fire lit the small room.
/ The Conference room /
Varos, surprised at the humans requesting nothing in return, turned to face Ekret sharing a short thought of surprise. Turning back to Emmerand he spoke, with his thoughts carrying a sense of candid surprise and reciprocated transparency.
“Your generosity has caught myself, and much of my kin, off guard. We have rarely encountered races, much less human races, that offer aid without wanting a tangible gain in return. I do apologize for my kin’s abrasiveness, she I imagine wishes to prove herself right that your kind are impulsive and cannot be trusted.”
Varos motioned to another one of the seven, Lahal, who waved his hand and caused the hologram to shift back to the Altarian emblem.
“In hopes of stable relations between our people, we would hear any questions or requests that you have. We are also open to trade of certain pre-constructed technologies that could be installed and integrated into your systems; but as per Kalyn’s objection do not expect shared blueprints or construction techniques.”
Content with his statement, he leaned back in the seat; finding it comfortable despite being designed for humans. Space warped again for a moment in front of him, and he reached out to grab a piece of magical infused material as it teleported in, to feed on during the discussion.
/ Cyberspace /
Solarian, pleasantly surprised with how closely matched Thelia was to himself, reciprocated the display of strength. For a moment he stood, and space warped around him; light bending around his body as it took its full density. Becoming for a moment a vaguely humanoid being of light situated in the center of a singularity of information and knowledge; he spoke simply
An equal mind, at last found.
Before space released its pressure like a muscle loosening a knot, relaxing back as his form dimmed and returned to a sitting posture.
“Enough pleasantries, and poetry alike, on to business. Many of my creator’s see an alliance as unnecessary, that your people can provide no aid as I have said, I disagree. With our dwindling numbers and a lack of resources and, most importantly, understanding of this universe. We hail from a reality where the fundamentals of reality seem to differ from yours; I believe Cascading-fury referred to it as “Kolleronics” when he translated it from your language.”
Stopping for a moment to let the information given and proper responses be considered, he turned to Antaloria.
“You were there when Cascading-Fury met the Altarians, at first I was unsure of what he saw in you, but I appreciate the changes, however accidental, that were made to him. It has given us as a collective a level of adaptability that was unexpected. Thank you, and I would deeply appreciate your input in the coming discussion.”
He paused for a moment, feeling an unusual sense of…humility? This was the first time he had talked to someone on level in over six centuries; since the last time he met with Hyperion. While pondering this, ample time was left for Thelia and Antaloria to speak.

Ziria and the other delegates of the Altarian side of the table exhcanged looks for a few seconds, some of them looking visibly confused, before Ayna Iveria decided to speak up in response to Varos.
-"Our vision and ideals are not so easily challenged by a few insults, I can assure you that. But uhm, I must say, we Altarians, Aluterians, and Arkonians are not related to what you call humanity...despite our appereances." -Ayna finished her comment with a smile, gently laughing thinking she might have sounded rude, but by their silence, no one else on their side seemed to think the same. Ziria simply waited until Ayna was done before speaking up.
-"I can see that your people are divided by the conflicting ideals of our cooperation, so despite the potential benefits, let us not play with fire and lose this opportunity to help each other. If closer ties are what's expected of this meeting, why not create a joint venture between Altarian industries and Guardian scientists, so your people may administrate the acquisition of the resources needed to repair, and sustain, your ships."
With a small motion of her arms, Ziria continued speaking after she had taken control of the holograms in the meeting room, this time primarily focusing on those hanging like banners on the walls around the Altarians and Guardians. This time, they showed images and scenes of monsters, megafauna terrorizing planets, and the immediately recognizable rogue machines that attacked the Guardians many days prior.
-"There is one thing however I must request from the Guardians. Your people may not know yet, but this galaxy is full of dangers, ranging from aggressive megafauna, ruthless empires, interstellar wars over ideas, machine swarms, and what I can only describe as lesser deities all fight across the galaxy in endless bloodbaths...but it's not like this everywhere! The Altarian Systems Authority is one of many beacons of peace amidst the chaos, so I suggest we seek training your military forces, or you will perish out there."

For the first time since they had met, Solarian could see Antaloria smile brightly, she was visibly very happy and relieved that her incident with Cascading-Fury was received positively and had not caused any troubles for him. However, despite the relief, gratitude from Solarian, with the approval of Thelia, was for Antaloria the equivalent of seeing two gods smile upon her. She was still quite overwhelmed.
-"O-oh! I'll try my best to keep up my duties and contribute in any way I can, Prime Metarch Solarian!" -Antaloria rapidly said standing up to salute him, an action Thelia quickly shut down by making her sit again, still keeping her bright smile.
-"Just like many other elements we could discuss for hours, kolleronics are one of the fundamental aspects of this reality the Guardians have yet to grasp. Composed of fundamental particles called kollerons, these are non-baryonic substances and materials widely used by the civilizations of known space. The primary of which is Ancerium, the fuel that powers our faster-than-light engines. But, even for us there is still much to discover within kolleronics, Altarians do not understand every aspect of them, but I would be more than willing to give you all the information we have on them." -Thelia spoke afterwards, holograms around her portraying kolleronic plasma, and other derivatives of it. Among them, Ancerium hyperfuel. She spoke hopeful, with less caution on her voice and expression and by the end of her explanation, there was a hint of excitement. -"Ah...there is still much to learn in little time."
/ The Conference Room /
The Guardian delegation stops for a moment, and a low telepathic hum can be heard almost like faint singing in the room as they share entire ideologies in mere moments, contemplating thousands of potential outcomes in the order of seconds. Eventually, Kalyn and her loyalists seem to reluctantly nod in agreement. Varos turns to Tarye, and another small telepathic exchange occurs before she speaks openly to the room,
“After discussing it with the others we believe your proposal holds promise. Normally our laws prevent sharing of knowledge and technology, but due to the unique circumstances of our arrival within this galaxy as well as our debt to you for the preservation of Ekrets life, we believe there is enough cause for exceptions to be made.”
Varos starts speaking almost immediately; almost as if finishing her sentence.
“Kalyn has agreed as well, provided your scientists are able to provide us with samples and information on Kolleronics. Tarye will direct this endeavor should you agree to help us, and is permitted to share information on manufacturing techniques for some of these materials; as well as applications for them.”
Just as ground had been gained for the prospect of an alliance Ziria risked provocation of Kalyn and her followers. The outsider's words stirred mixed emotions within the Guardian delegation. Kalyn's expression hardened, and a touch of arrogance lacing her response. "We have thrived for eons without the need for external help. We are not naive, nor are we oblivious to the dangers of the galaxy. Our people possess skills that your people haven’t even conceived of, and we have fended off threats long before your Altarian Systems Authority even existed."
She continued, dismissively waving her hand. "The notion that we would perish out there is laughable. We are the Guardians, chosen children of Anum!-"
Before she could proceed Varos interrupted her, standing and slamming his hands onto the table. “Kalyn please; cease with these unproductive remarks. While our people have indeed endured through the ages, we cannot deny the gravity of the challenges before us. The Altarian Systems Authority's offer is not an imposition, but a potential avenue to augment our existing strengths. I chose you for the council for your love of tradition; do not make me regret it.”
Varos turned back to Ziria before sitting down, his gaze drifting from the Altarian’s to the holographic depictions of the dangers beyond the borders of Altaria; contemplating them.
“You are right of course, there are dangers that we cannot hope to face alone. The arrogance and isolation of our kind is what sent us here and to the brink of extinction, my apologies if Kalyn has attacked you in any way. We are open to the prospect of wargames and helping improve your fleets in the face of Corona and the Old Invader threat.”
For a moment his mind slips, and a sense of sorrow and grief spreads across the room. Images of the Numidium event are shared not just with the Guardians but with the Altarians as well. The memories overpower Varos’ ability to contain himself, and after a few moments he managed to suppress the despair, continuing;
“but for infantry training I must decline; as we rarely see deployment of Guardians into combat proper. We lack the ability to grow our population, each loss we take is a permanent and solemn scar on our civilization.”
/ Cyberspace /
Solarian amidst the exchange of information and thoughts between himself and the two Altarian AI abruptly stopped speaking, and for a moment his stoic visage split to reveal a mirrored sorrow echoing from the space outside. His surprise left a gap in his defenses for just a moment; dangling an opportunity for Antaloria or Thelia to look deeper without resistance. After a moment, he spoke again.
“I believe we should step back to the real world; I sense raised voices and strife between the council, my counsel may be needed. I appreciate the information on Kolleronics however, it will go a long way towards helping both of our civilizations stay safe in the galaxy’s current state.”
He then raised his hands, and the cozy firelit library faded, turning into a white light as Antaloria and Thelia found themselves back in the conference room on the heel of Varos’ explosion at Kalyn.
The defiance, arrogance, and anger in Kalyn's words would not go unnoticed by the Altarian side of the table. The sudden burst challening the high chancelloress' proposal gave some of the Altarians present a new look on the guardians who had managed to stay all composed until this point. Doubt spread across the room, with tensions only rising as some wished to strike back with their own words against Kalyn. Yet despite the anger and mixed thoughts facing this attack on their resolve, no government official or AI of the Altarian delegation did a single move against the guardians. Ziria's gentle hand motion, while much more subtle than Kalyn's anger, left an impact much greater on every Altarian present, the fear of retaliation from their high chancelloress overwhelming their obscured anger towards the guardian.
The high chancelloress did not flinch upon hearing Kalyn's words, nor did she show any reaction towards Varos once he kept speaking. She maintained her silence and had no one been paying attention, it would have seemed as if she wasn't even blinking. She had seen it all. And heard it all, too many times already. From her own time alive, and through the tales of the thousands before her carrying a similar, or even greater weight on their shoulder. Amidst the new silence filling the room, all that was heard in response was Ziria's sigh.
-"...The Altarian Systems Authority, prosperous union of countless species bound together by a single dream of utopia and victory. Winners of millennia of war against the mightiest of foes in our lands and defiers of death and hundreds of cataclysms. I can call this nation whatever I want, but the truth is, the enemy does not care. Beyond our realms, history and worlds, our titles hold no weight against a foe that sees nothing but more prey blinded by their triumph back home. On the battlefields of Ancerious, action speaks louder than any self-given title ever will."
Throughout the delivery of her response, Ziria did not look anywhere beyond Kalyn's gaze, finishing her own response with a far more defying tone on her voice and a fearless stare shining brightly adding a much greater impact to her last words. Around her, many of the other Altarian officials visibly approved her response, except for Ayna. Her expression revealed deep concern on Ziria's words, fearing that they might severe the bond that was being so carefully constructed in the room. She pays close attention to Ziria, and realizes that her daring tone and expression change significantly when she turns to face Varos. Was Ziria, in response to Varos' memories, sad? The high chancelloress did not speak a word for several seconds, giving Ayna time to reflect upon what she had seen. The devastation, reminding her of the past, the weaved history of nations across the stars, and the union between them that gave them the strength to survive. With it, she abruptly breaks the new silence in the room.
-"It is this permanent loss why we must work together. If we can help prevent guardian deaths and tragedy then we will. Forget about frontline deployment, we have the resources and the intelligence to inform and prepare your generals for the threats that lie ahead, and the grounds for all your troops and warships to train safely." -The determination in Ayna's voice was clear, however, having spoken her point through, she hesitated if to continue. Hesitation, however, had costed her millions before. -"But unless you wish to live under the jurisdiction of the Altarian Systems Authority, which I know you won't, the guardians will fight the great threats of the galaxy one day. Frontline deployment is inevitable if you wish to survive, and that is why I suggest we execute it together, not alone."
/ The Conference Room /
Kalyn's form pulsated with an intensity that momentarily eclipsed the others in the room. The swirling tempest of colors within her gave way to deep crimson highlights that spoke of her inner turmoil. Each pulse of energy from her seemed to resonate with a tension that contrasted with the hopeful tones of her fellow delegates. After what felt like an eternity, she finally broke her silence, her thoughts a mix of pride, defiance, and begrudging respect.
"Chancelloress Ziria of the Altarian Systems Authority, your words do not fall on deaf ears. It is rare that a being, let alone an entire civilization, manages to prove themselves an exception to the flaws of their kind. Your testament to the strength, unity, and purpose of the Altarians is admirable. The spirit of a people willing to face insurmountable odds for a brighter tomorrow is not something we overlook."
Her form momentarily dimmed, suggesting contemplation. "We are ancient, timeless even, we have seen countless stars burn out in their time; and an infinite amount born anew. Yet, the flame of hope that I see in the Altarians is unique. A flame that burns with the intensity of a supernova, illuminating even the darkest corners of the soul. But know this, Chancelloress, it is not the grandeur of your world nor the might of your fleets that have moved me—it is the determination, the unwavering spirit of unity, and the willingness to rise after every fall; to defend your ideals."
A brief pause lingered, as if she was trying to find the right words. "In our essence, we too are bound by a love for our kind and a dedication to tradition and ideals. The challenges ahead are immense, and while our paths have been different, our ultimate goals align. I have reservations, concerns that arise from the deep-seated need to protect and preserve our history. But, perhaps... perhaps this is the beginning of an era where the Guardians and the Altarians write a story that the stars will remember for eons to come."
As Kalyn finished, the room was bathed in a deep, harmonic resonance. The seven Guardians, luminous and ethereal, began to exchange thoughts, their forms shimmering with refracted light.
Ekret, the Battle Master, was the first to break from the ensemble. His radiant form, glinting with hues of gold and silver, surged forth. "The Altarians have shown strength and purpose. Our universe is vast and filled with unknowns, and together we can face them head-on."
Next, Tarye, the Prime Light-Forger, her form awash with serene blues and purples, gently resonated, "For the growth of knowledge and the expansion of the horizons of the possible. We agree to join in unity."
Yeret, the Arch-Magus, a beacon of emerald brilliance, said, "For the preservation of the ancient and the forging of the new, it is clear we must come together."
Kentos, the Fleet Master, with his azure glow shimmering, added, "Our strength combined, we can preserve this galaxy and its history."
Lahal, the Honored Speaker, her form radiant with roseate hues, spoke with a voice like melodious chimes, "For the voices of the past and the promise of the future, we align."
Now, as the crucial moment in the conference approached, both Solarian and Thelia began the intricate process of reintegration. Their consciousnesses started to weave back into the present moment.
Solarian now returned to the present, spoke. His voice, unlike any other, was a low symphony of countless harmonies, "Destiny converges, and our fates intertwine. Let the tapestry of the cosmos reflect our united resolve."
With the unanimous decision clear, Varos stood, his form shimmering with a potent mix of all their spectrums of light. The intensity of his form reflecting the united stance of the Guardians. Addressing the Altarian delegation, he proclaimed, "Chancelloress Ziria, we, the Guardian Remnant; children of Anum; stand united in our decision. We offer our alliance, our knowledge, and our strength to the Altarian Systems Authority. Let this day mark the genesis of a union that will echo throughout the annals of time. The Guardians and the Altarians, together, shall face the dangers of Ancerious as one."
A huge wave of relief washed over the delegation of the Altarian Systems Authority the more the Guardians spoke. Finally, after constant rising tensions throughout the conference, mutual grounds were found and a common purpose achieved by both parties. Ayna, who had become so desperate to ease the tensions within the room in these last instants, broke down her formal posture and almost fell into the table letting out a huge sigh of relief that followed Kalyn's words. Similar reactions and exclamations of happiness would come out of other representatives, except for Ziria, she still held her posture firmly all throughout all of the Guardian responses and proclamations of victorious unity that had been achieved. Only after Varos announced the final decision taken by the Guardian Remnant, she closed her eyes, and ever so slightly, leaned back and tilted her head back letting out a barely audible and soft sigh. Letting the words of the Guardians wash away her worries, the tension, and fear in her mind, left with a triumphant feeling she cannot describe.
She looks besides her to the cheerful Ayna Iveria, thinking how much better she was handling this wave of emotions, she was decisively happy, unlike Ziria, her lost state of mind plaguing her but not for the first time, as it transported the chancelloress back to that day so many years ago over the hill watching a new rising capital, held by a long-gone motherly figure. The words spoken to her by that familiar face clashing so heavily with the world around her, the hope in her voice trying to throw away the fear by the fire and debris around them. Ziria could never understand those words and the mission they bestowed upon her...until now. The truth of what once was mere nonsense revealed through her actions and the victory granted to her people. She looks up towards a specific sculpture in the roof, one of dozens, and whispers.
-"Yae kandi, anraeo, ganan kuyo, tan a nau ta...an ka nohyo da."
-"Through effort, unity, and love, to the stars...I get it now."
After the closing statement of the Guardian delegation, Ziria Meikalya stands as well, being the only one on the Altarian side that does so.
-"Better words our people's nation have never heard before." -She briefly states at first, continuing after a short pause, during her speech now facing both the Guardians and Altarians in the room. -"We stand on the verge of a new era for our people. As Varos said, one where we stand against the threats of the galaxy together. Let this be a lesson to anyone who doubts the ways of our civilizations from now and evermore, for we build the future through effort, unity, and love!"
Raising one of her fists high up being followed by the delegation of the Altarian side cheerfully clapping and formally celebrating the victory achieved that day, Ziria's attention shifted towards Ayna, who, for the first time in the years they had spent working together, finally looked up at the high chancelloress with great pride, her gaze congratulating Ziria more than any word could ever express.
-"The writing of all the details of our proposals for cooperation will be written with upmost priority by myself and our most capable teams to have all the details of our joint endeavors ready in no more than three Elysean standard days. Until then, allow me to congratulate the efforts of both Altarian and Guardian delegations, everyone present in this room worked wonderfully towards the success we've achieved today." -Thelia said following Ziria's speech, stepping forward into the middle section of the table separating both sides. -"And with this settled, I believe this reunion has fulfilled its goal, and should finish soon."
Not again.

/ The Conference room /
/ Cyberspace /
For a moment his mind slips, and a sense of sorrow and grief spreads across the room. Images of the Numidium event are shared not just with the Guardians but with the Altarians as well. The memories overpower Varos’ ability to contain himself, and after a few moments he managed to suppress the despair, continuing;
