But what did it all mean? What was the end-game? She dozily thought as her processor finished rebooting its tertiary functions and the world slowly started to focus back in for her. It was then when she realized that she was, in fact, hanging upside down. With a faint sway her head jerked as she fully became aware of her surroundings and tried to raise her hand to her head, only to find herself restrained with an audible clank of heavy chains. She struggled slightly before a mechanical chuckle could be heard somewhere behind her, an ominous noise filled with malice and hubris. She whipped her head around to see it's emitter, who was foolish enough to kidnap her?! Oh she would make them pay! How did they even know of her existence?! What did they want?! She was about to speak before she was silenced: "My dear, some would consider it unwise to resist in such circumstances.. Now. Let us start again, shall we?" She stared at the figure in the corner of the room. They were clad in thin, black plate armour with a pistol held idly in their left hand and a blue glow-stick in their right faintly illuminating themselves. They were sat down on a crate that emitted a faint blue glow from the gaps between the crate and lid at the top.
That voice.. it was familiar but she just couldn't place a name to it, still dazed from whatever had happened to her head. She calmed down slightly from their words, hastily struggling would achieve little and cost a lot. The game was patience, and so patience it was. She stopped struggling entirely and instead just stared at them, not uttering a single word as they paused seemingly to let them speak before shrugging at her silence and continuing. "Not one for introductions I see. Alas, they are not necessary for I already know who you are. Had I not hit you over the head you would likely recognize me as well, mmm probably a bit of damage to your central processor there. Now, jests aside do you know why you are here?" She answered with a brisk shake of her head, remaining silent out of a mixture of both fear and spite. The individual let out a disappointed sigh before countering "Ah, but I believe you do. I mean, surely the architecture must be recognizable?" She took a look away from him and looked around, the room was poorly illuminated but... wait.. it couldn't be..
She looked over at the oil-stained console that she had watched a Reborn scientist fiddle with the last time.. She was at the Pillbox..
She turned back towards her captor with a renewed sense of anxiety, even knowing about this place suggested nothing good. He let out a sadistic chuckle before saying "Ah, there it is. Finally taking me seriously now, are we? Yes my dear, welcome back to the Pillbox. Not how you'd imagine it, eh?" She shivered slightly as the reality of the situation truly set in. Whatever was happening, it wasn't good... as if the chains weren't enough of an indicator. All of a sudden the sound of an intercom phone pierced the deafening silence that had filled the room after his teasing. The individual reached over to their left, the glowstick illuminating the phone as they picked it up and held it to their head. Half a second passed before they said "Yes I've got her here. No, no one knows. Yes I've secured the materials and research documentation. Yes I'll be bringing them to the landing zone after I'm done with her. Alright, see you soon." He leaned back down and placed it back on it's hook before letting out a bored sigh and turning to her.
He then stood up slightly and walked over, she could feel her reactor hammering with each step he took. Finally he stopped just in front of her before leaning down to ensure they were face to face before her oil went cold... The new proximity revealed a symbol on the side of his head, one she hadn't seen since...
She started to panic, struggling against the restraints with newfound determination as her captor started laughing. After a minute she gave up and looked back up at him as his own laughter started to settle. He said with an amused tone "Yeah, now you understand. We were never gone, Anatheta, we merely recuperated. You think that Archon-1 was under such an impression? But now, our return begins and the Second Dawn is fully united. Two parts once again exist as a whole, and you have adequately demonstrated that you are too idealistic for the future." She could barely comprehend what he was saying.. that was where the wormhole had led?! She made to scream but her voicebox refused. She struggled once again as he walked away with a chuckle towards the opposite end of the room.
The glowstick illuminated a large object that was obscured by a thick black canvas, with another chuckle he yanked it off and revealed the device within. It was a sleek, black turret with a long sharp barrel. Her fear doubled as she looked down it, a stark realization firing through her mind as she realized what she was looking at. Her captor reached over to the console and pressed a button and all of a sudden a bright deep blue light filled the room as it powered on with a menacing hum. The barrel extended slightly and the interior began to emit a deep blue glow as she started struggling even harder, her servos grinding painfully as she did so. He shook his head in disappointment before continuing "You think we're not aware of your little gig with the Selenicans? That a patrol that has now reported a border skirmish just so happened to choose that particular region of space to coast through? We are not fools, Anatheta. Your.. emotions.. have compromised you, and it is bad practice to leave a parasite attached. Alas, I am afraid this is goodbye..."
She finally let out a scream for a split second before a deep blue beam shot forth from the turret and vaporized her head, the beam slamming against the wall and dissipating. Her neck was burnt at a perfect cut, with no oil dripping from the instantly cauterized wound. He just stared at her now lifeless frame before reaching over and pressing a button on the console again, the turret whining as it powered down and a half second later another Reborn burst into the room with a rifle raised before lowering it at the sight of her corpse. He looked to them and then pointed at the crate he sat on earlier and said "Get the material loaded onto the freighter, forward the schematics of the turret to our foundries. I'll clean up this mess."
The individual nodded and slung their rifle over their chest before leaning down and picking up the crate with a grunt and exiting the room as he approached the destroyed frame in the centre of the room. He poked her chest with his pistol and nodded in approval at the lack of response before turning around and kicking another crate over as a clear liquid started spilling out onto the floor. He then turned around and exited after the soldier, metal feet clacking against the floor before he heard a fire alarm blare followed by an explosion behind him.
