"You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find... you get what you need!" ~ Rolling Stones

System JU-88-QBUZ-7 "Rockhaven"
"Standby"
That word always infuriated Rear Admiral Johannes. His secondary and tertiary head boredly looked around at the mixed crew of the CCV Gallileo as they hurried by, occasionally nodding to one who had enough time to give a hasty acknowledgement to his being there. His primary head however frustratedly glared at the door.
He must have scared it with his baleful glare, as it shuddered gently and with the 'kssshk!' of compressed air the blast door slid open to either side of him as his wide-shouldered form stalked inside. And, despite having three heads, almost ran over a Teruvian Aide who was hurrying by... the small lizardfolk squawked and flailed, almost falling before looking up with an acidic glare; "Ey! Watch it! I'm walkin' here!" before rushing off to tend to his duties.
It was that attitude that always infuriated the Rear Admiral, civilians serving on a combat command vessel. But in these times, the fleet needed all able bodies... and with the immense losses suffered at the Incursion system, they were particularly low on vessels to house just about everyone. The Serian stalked across the command center, silver scales and hide reflecting the holographic and readout light as he approached the central holo-viewer showing the system.
They were approximately 10 galactic standard 'sectors' from the incursion point... galactic west. System JU-88-QBUZ-7, commonly called "Rockhaven" by the Saurian Kingdom ships and quickly adopted across the fleet, was an interesting system with four planetoids and a pair of Gas Giants. The single-starred system was new, the sun bright and hot, and none of the planets were ready for life... most being highly active tectonically. However, an interesting point to this system was that the typical Oort Cloud that would surround the system was almost impossibly close to the massive star... or at least portions of the immense field were, and almost entirely made up of asteroids within a light year from the star... turning to ice farther out.
This meant the system would be highly suitable for mining and giving the fleet a jumpstart on rebuilding it's losses and setting itself up for industrial production and export to neighboring sentient races and factions.
Rear Admiral Johannes was focused on that part particularly. As he stared at the three Kazekin Class Titans forming up around the outer planetoid... and watched civilian tugs and mining frigates cruising through the inner edges of the Oort-Belt... Soon excavation of the outer planetoid would begin, as lesser capital industrials around the size of dreadnoughts lurked near the Oort Cloud to commence mining that. Which meant that they would need -buyers- for the commodities being produced.
They had no buyers. They had no contact, no political clout. They needed intelligence, and they needed to commence operations in this Galaxy. Before the IDI decided to follow them here.
"-Listening to me, Rear Admiral?" sliced through his thought process as he looked up with his tertiary and primary head, his secondary keeping a lookout to the other directions. "Of course, of course, I do apologise Admiral. My mind was wandering."
The Tall, muscular, and... *ahem* stacked Therion Matriarch before him was crossing her arms as she quirked a brow; "You know, with three heads, I would have hoped you had a better attention span, Johannes." She shrugged, "But alas, the galaxy only sought fit to give you one brain." She chided, "Anyway, I'm a busy Matriarch. What does the exploration fleet need of me? I have the Mining Fleet, Civilian Fleet, and the Defense Fleet all knocking at my door at all hours of the day and night cycles and it's gotten to the point that even my thrall is fed up with all of this. Dunstan actually is in the brig for almost dismembering a rather unpleasant Gadzu from the Mining Fleet yesterday!"
Rear Admiral Johannes' eyebrows quirked, typically a Admiralty grade Matriarch's thralls were incredibly well behaved and in-control of their emotions... especially his good friend High Matriarch J'Niveve. That gadzu must have been -particularly- annoying to get Dunstan J'Niveve worked up. Either way however...
"Of course, High Matriarch. I have a request for a unit of Destroyers and Gato Explorers to begin probing the various factions for possible survivors from the Incursion zone, as well as factions interested in our surplus materials. We need contacts, and we need them quickly. We are alone out here, and we will need support should the IDI follow us through... if anything, we need to warn them off from becoming IDI Submissive races."
The Admiralty grade High Matriarch nodded quickly, "I... see." She looked at the screen, "I think I might be able to put something together for you, an initial expeditionary fleet... if you will. Let's see what we can hash out, yes?" She turned and waved for the three headed creature to follow.
