Vulkan: Triarch Inc Space
John Triarch smiled.
All in all, there wasn't a huge amount to smile about.
The Ancerium shortage had caused a large dip in Vulkans production output. Entire foundry districts were shut down and whole dockyard sections had been left with ships half built as imported FTL fuel and materials were in shortage. Everywhere seemed to be suffering the results of the economic crisis, and the company was far from being immune. Even with Rangvalds prestigious resources and assets available things were far from balanced, the company had seen a large dip in both sales as well as predicted sales. Everyone wanted weapons for the coming conflict, yes, but not everyone had the money or fuel to transport them.
The galactic war was another bag of worms.
Some had argued to back and arm either side, almost instantaneously being laughed out of the board room and belittled by the much more tight knit veteran Triarch individuals. Taking a side had led Triarch to total destruction in the last war, and tying themselves to a side now would cause investors to jump ship as well as the very real threat of destruction.
No, no sides this time. They would use it to sell to both. Total neutrality.
Yes Orillia might go up in arms about them being colonials, but the overwhelmingly native factor of the Cartel would almost certainly influence them away from any action against Triarch. And why would they anyway? They were happily selling to many native nations and were practically fully arming a few of them, shooting a friendly arms supplier would be a mistake.
No. John Triarch smiled, despite everything going on.
Because Triarch Inc. had surpassed Yamanakako.
The news had been cathartic. Even as John had held his glass of whiskey up to toast the entire company. It was a surprise to be sure, but the rapid rate of growth alongside the truly monumental gains from TRIDEX had tipped them over the edge. He wished he could see Su Su’s face now, see the smugness wiped clean. John had seen rock bottom several times in his career, and every time he had climbed back up to the peak.
“This time will be no different. I'll crush that corporation and do to you what you did to me. I'll tear Yamanakako apart and leave the spoils to whoever wants them just like you did to Triarch Industries. Ill leave my mark on the entire cartel, and in time take our rightful place” John muttered as he twisted the glass in his hand, looking out across the foundries of Vulkan and beyond to the Chariot, the planet's huge space elevator.
“Mr. Triarch the representative is here to see you” The voice of Destro cut through John's moment and he swiveled back in his chair, placing his hands on the desk. Back to business.
“Let him in”
Trialion: Outside Triarch Space
The trails had been a stunning success.
The Trialion was a new ship, virtually everywhere you looked there were new shiny panels or clear new installs which had been fitted during the ships final outfit. She had proven herself in the initial ship trials and the stealth system was fully capable, successfully providing the proof that such a system worked intensely under combat conditions. Virtually all of the Triarch Defense Force was ready to go now, fully provisioned and outfitted they could defend the company on a moment's notice.
Executive Admiral Crance surveyed the readouts from the bridge of the Michion eager to study the latest figures from the Trialions stealth tests. As the company's ace up its sleeve the Trialion needed to be ready to go at a moments notice, and with the galactic war coming it had to be in a state where it could potentially serve as a technology demonstrator.
Everything looked green, truly an impressive occasion. Truth be told Crance was surprised that the other corporations had not stepped in to stop the construction of the Trialion, or even the Michion, her own ship which was for all intents and purposes a renamed dreadnought. Still things had come to pass and now they had both vessels in the companies control, a foundation for things to come she hoped.
“Ma’am I have a priority call coming in from the big boss” Crance raised an eyebrow and moved the test results out the way, her command position was sat along with the bridge crew within a massive holographic sphere. Allowing her to survey things all around her with sensor updates in real time.
“Put it through” The call was received and the Admirals privacy field engaged, distorting her mouth movements and canceling sound around her to ensure the conversation was not overheard.
“CEO, I am sure you are here for the test results, eager as ever I can safely say the Trialion has passed with flying colours, as you-” She was interrupted as John brought up his hand.
“I am glad the tests have gone according to plan, however I am here to talk to you about another matter. I need a rough estimate on the amount of ships from your fleet which could form an effective fighting force, smallest effective operational formation possible” The request took Crance completely by surprise.
“Sir? Are you asking me to draw up a deployment formation? For what may I ask?”
“I am. We have just been… requested to assist with matters in Aedleshaven. Give me a full report and we will discuss finalization later”

“Are you asking me to deploy company defensive assets in an offensive role to assist your operations in Aedleshaven?” John's voice was completely devoid of emotion.
“Yes. That is exactly what the Rangvald board has deemed necessary.” The representative was a tall man, extremely skinny and wearing a boring beige suit. He had every trapping of an ex Yamanakako businessman. John didn't like him already.
“Why?” Triarch did not trust the situation. Immediately after such a successful TRIDEX and overtaking Yamanakako they were trying to request his forces to an operation to directly have them involved in the war. It felt like they were taking him down a peg, given the timing of this arrival and the Trialions trials, it did not seem like coincidence.
“Simply put, because you are the best military force that the board deems available right now. Yamanakako is somewhat unreliable in their force projection, their forces are not suited to our mission parameters. Your own defense forces are kitted out for stealth and fast operations, perfect for what is deemed needed. You will of course be compensated for your actions in this operation” The bland voice of the man was grating.
“Compensated how? And what operation? Speak to me plainly or this is going to be a very short conversation”
“The operation is to ensure Rangvald and its subsidiaries interests are protected within the Aedleshaven region, we may need military strikes on threats as well as escorting assets and defending such. Something that your force is fully able to do with a low profile. We have full faith in your forces abilities. In terms of compensation, depending on how things go we will compensate any losses financially as well as move to permit… More open weapon sales from your company” John leaned back into his seat.
“You're saying we will once more be open to sell weapon systems? How will Yamanakako respond to this? They control nearly all our weapon sales”
“They will follow conduct when the time comes. This is of course if all goes to plan. This is a golden opportunity for your company John, further details are in this data packet” He placed a small data chip on the desk before nodding “I shall be off, good day John Triarch”
John waited until the man had fully left the office, briefly directing his defensive AI to scan it in case it was coated in neurotoxins or explosive. He couldn't be too careful given his situation. Finally he picked it up and placed it to connect to a dummy system. No viruses, that was a good sign.
As he opened up the data he sat back.
That man undersold things. This was big, very big.
