Overseer's Palace, Misya Elim
Ala walked down the printwood-floored hallway, traversing the approximately thirty meter distance from her office suite to that of the Sector Council meeting room. As she walked, a dozen thoughts floated through her mind. It wasn't so long ago that she had made a similar walk towards the meeting room, but as a normal councilmember, in a meeting that would set her ascension to Overseer into motion. Despite her best efforts however, it seemed like the more she had pushed for diplomacy and building relations, the more the rest of the galaxy pushed back towards conflict.
The door to the meeting room sensed her approach and whirred open, and Ala stood up a little straighter as she entered the room. The five council members were already within their chairs, each rising as she entered the room, before returning to their seats as Ala took hers.
"Good morning everyone" Ala began "Let us get right to business. We have been invited by both the Union and Sarabhai Republic to join SAGA, in response to the formation of CONA and anti-colonial sentiment in the galaxy. What do you all think?
The councilor from the Federation province, a human named Stephen, spoke up first "I don't think we have much of a choice, now do we? I think Orillia has made it clear that we're on their list of targets since the intervention at La Sereña. If we don't reinforce our position and join SAGA, then I suspect CONA forces will be infringing on our territory soon enough in the name of native reclamation."
Two of the other councilors nodded in agreement with Stephen, and Ala sighed. "I believe you're right. But I don't like the Union's stance regarding Adleshaven. Joining forces with them against the corridor will only give credence to CONA and Orillia's words that the colonials are throwing their weight around, no matter our intentions."
Zetim, the new councilor for the Trinova province replied "Yes, but with their closing of the corridor, much of the kolleranic supply will be controlled by CONA, likely to be used to slowly starve any colonial nations who don't join their ranks. And I doubt that joining them would be a preferable option. We need to take action, to protect ourselves and help our allies, lest the Ecumene's presence in the galaxy be disassembled by Orillia."
"Hmmm" Ala said, slightly nodding as she considered the councilor's words. "Let's put it to a vote then, all in favor for joining SAGA and joining whatever war effort ensues indicate so now"...

It had been an hour since the sector council meeting had concluded, and now Ala was preparing to address her corner of the nation. Now she waited, as the seconds ticked down to going live, and her face bore a grim expression. This would be the moment, where she would commit the fate of billions to a fate, which she hoped would be for the better.
The technician behind the camera signaled that it was time, and the Overseer stared into the camera lens.
"My fellow citizens of the Ecumene, and those of the Ancerious galaxy. Once again, we have found ourselves in tumultuous times. War is on our doorstep, much like it was over twenty years ago before the Second Ancerious War. After the war had concluded, we hoped for a better future, working to bring a better society to Capitol, and assisting our neighbors such as La Sereña. But there were those who opposed such vision, such as Orillia, because to build others up would require them to put aside their dreams of conquest. Now we find ourselves on brink of war again. Orillia has formed a pact in the name of protecting native nations. Yet despite their supposedly noble goals, this is the same pact whose members are even now harassing neutral nations, using the threat of their newfound friends to bully those outside of their club, which by its nature is prejudiced against others, regardless of their actions. This is the same organization that has demonstrated that instead of working towards a more equitable galactic order, they desire to monopolize resources for themselves, while letting anyone who doesn't toe their line wither away into insignificance. They are little different than the Ancerious Pivotal Powers of before, speaking of lofty ideals such as independence and being able to make one's own way, while in reality being nothing more than an excuse to seize more power for their members.
As much as we desire peace and diplomacy, we cannot and will not sit idly by while Orillia and their allies try to throw their weight around, all while hypocritically throwing accusations of native nations doing the same. The Ecumene hereby declares its acceptance of SAGA's invitation for membership, and we call on those who truly wish for a better galactic society to do the same. Our arms will always be open for those who wish to discuss and work together, war or not. But if it comes to conflict, we are prepared to defend ourselves and those around us. Thank you."
