Teo’s battleship raised itself back into real space and shined brightly as the Golden Expanse dominated the star field infant of them. The ship was only a few light minutes out from the area in which the Expanse formed its own damping field. Ships darted all around ferrying raw materials and minerals towards the structure that was quickly looming over the massive Battleship.
“This is Stagnum Vitae Traffic Control. We humbly welcome your highness’ arrival.” The man spoke into her mind. Teo willed the ship forward and tugs moved up alongside to guid the ship in. Using the ships abilities Teo ran her “eyes” across the quickly forming structure.
In keeping with Andracken design the Central hub of the station was flanked by six radial arms that extended out to 65,000 Kilometers in each direction. Platforms were slowly being built on the arms and large sections of crystal remained unrefined and raw. At the Central hub’s center was a 12,000 Kilometer wide hole that faced the Golden Expanse and beyond that a dead world.
A rumble reverberated through the ship as it docked with the station. “Your Highness, we have docked and Nur awaits our arrival. Detaching herself from the ‘seat’ Teo floated down the hallway to the door leading to the station. Andracken Commons floated in formation around her and one broke off to touch the wall. Slowly and sounding like crinkling glass the door folded in on itself revealing three Commons with the one in the center having a halo of dozens of crystal shards above it.
“Your Highness, I am Director Nur of Stagnum Vitae station.” Nur bowed and the two Andracken beside him bowed along with. “If you would follow me, I shall give a tour of the station.” Moving to follow him Teo looked around at the station interior. Pillars of crystal grew from the floor and ceiling to meet while Commons floated about forming crystal with beams of energy. They did not move to give respects as they were entirely focused on their tasks.
Pausing to peer down a small alcove she watched as eight Commons formed a vertical circle as a large specialized Common took position in the center. The eight Commons focused beams of energy into central Common and it directed the energy the wall. Like shattering glass the wall exploded inward and traveled through with the beam. As it collapsed in on itself it formed another hallway. As the new hallway grew the group of Andracken followed with it, leading off down what must be one of the six outreaching arms.
Turning to follow with the group Teo witnessed many more of such groups forming hallways. Stopping at a “window” teo looked out at a series of crystal pipes.
“These are our main particle accelerators, they are used to take Ancerium and create some of its more exotic products. As we can not yet reach into the Expanse we are forced to make out own exotic materials.” Nur explained, as Teo watched two of the dozens of accelerators glowed with energy before flashing with what would be blinding light.
“How long until the Normalization Projectors are completed?” Teo asked. Feeling Nur’s emotions she could tell he was now nervous and slightly fearful.
“At projected consumption of Exotic Materials we will run out of Sinarium before we finish construction of the necessary projectors. Even factoring in the minimum amount necessary for a semi-stable corridor we would still need more than we currently poses.” Nur said. Teo hummed as she ran her own calculations.
“How many projectors do you have installed already and how many do you need for a stable corridor.” Teo could run the math herself but was testing Nur to see if her new children could act on their own.
“We currently have seven projectors online, we plan for a full array of eighty-two projectors, and we would only need half of those to form a stable field, though we would have to shut them down for maintenance.” Nur warned. Teo hummed again and searched her database for people who had the proper materials.
“I will have to contact our friends in Carnaith and see if they can part with some of their Sinarium.” Teo mused.
“I’m sorry your Highness, but I do not believe Carnaith will have enough they’d be willing to sell us.” Nur warned, fear leaking into his voice. Teo appreciated the Common’s ability to contradict her, it meant they were thinking more for themselves rather than as a hive mind.
“So it seems, we may just have to ask others for help.” Teo said as she began floating down the hallway. Floating up to catch Teo, Nur was projecting fear.
“But your Highness, if we contact others for Sinarium they’ll begin asking questions, if they find out about this station we may come under attack by the supporters of Yog Narr, or by people who want the station for themselves.” Nur pleaded. Teo halted and turned her attention to the director.
“Then we will defend the station, do you feel our force is inadequate to defend the station?” Teo asked. Nur attempted to hide his fear but still some seeped through.
“No your Highness, but if any damage were to come to this station we would be set back and may cause the station to be destroyed if the reactors go critical.” Nur said. Teo understood his fear and agreed with his position.
“I will have a full defense screen placed around the station, coordinate with Admiral Gio on what you feel is necessary for a possible attack.” Teo said. Relief washed over Nur and Teo could feel the joy radiating off Nur. “Shall we continue with the tour?” Teo asked amusedly. Nur led on and group continued through the thousands of kilometers of station halls.
