Misya Elim, Nuclean Ecumene Territory
Overseer Kard gazed out the window of the conference room within the Overseer's Palace, watching the morning sunlight from Misya Elim's orbiting white dwarf illuminating the park which surrounded the building. The beautiful weather outside slightly lifted his spirits, which were currently weighed down with what to do about the galactic market crash that had occurred about five hours ago.
The swish of the door opening alerted him to the arrival of the Sector Council members, who began filing into the room and moving to their seats. Time to return to business Kard thought to himself, turning and greeting the councilmembers as he took a seat at the head of the table, after which they followed suite.
Addressing the assembled council, Kard began "The pressing matter today, gentlesophs, is that of the market crash originating in the Killian Verge. This mainly affects the service sector of our economy, and our citizens are being hit with high interest rates. Does anyone have any proposals for how we should address this?"
The councilors looked between each other for a few moments, before the representative from the Trinova Province, a female named Ala, spoke up. "In a manner of speaking, yes. We, the council, have been thinking, and we believe that it's time for new executive leadership to deal with the current crises."
Kard stopped, his good mood halted in its tracks, as his face darkened "You cannot just remove the Overseer, especially in a time like this."
"Kard" Ala replied "We are in agreement. You are a military man thrust into governing, and while we don't hold that against you, it's time to let someone more qualified run this sector. I think it best that you step down, so we can avoid a formal vote of no confidence."
Kard looked down at the table, breathing a deep sigh, while the others looked on. After a moment, he looked back up. "Is that how you all feel then?" he asked, looking at the three councilors, who all nodded, with a few "yes's".
"Very well then. I think I'm going to take a retirement. I need a break from politics and military stress anyway." Kard replied, rising from his seat and walking from the room.
