The sun shined brightly over the busy world below,it's rays heating up the toxic atmosphere to oven like temperatures. The inhabitants of this planet could not care less however, being made up of countless robotic constructs. Some were miniscule, others gigantic, scurrying from complex to complex across the entire surface, bringing materials from mines to factories, then from factories to foundries in an endless cycle of clockwork motions.
Amidst this complicated dance, something peculiar stood out. A spire that dwarfed all other complexes,it's design sleek and majestic compared to the eye soaring efficiency of the others. Near its very top, which peaked over the atmosphere, was a glowing advertising sign that displayed naught but two words,"Vexar's Empire".
Within one of the building's many luxurious quarters,a small device began to beep. A hand promptly reached out from an adjacent bed, shutting off the source of noise. The man groaned as he stood up,taking a look at the device only to notice that he had overslept.
With another sigh,he turned on the lights with a motion of the palm. Two mechanical constructs entered the room right after, helping him get ready for the day ahead as well as put his business suit on. Once that was said and done, another disc shaped robot moved across the floor until facing him, proceeding to project the holographic image of a woman above itself.
"Greetings mister Vexar, shall I get your coffee ready at the office?" She said,a synthetic smile plastered on her face.
"Yes,that would be very nice" The man answered, existing the room and proceeding to walk across a corridor with the robot and its projection following shortly behind.
"More importantly,I'd like you to give me a rundown of anything worth my attention"
They had made it into a more open section, filled with trees, chirping birds and other docile wildlife. All of it crisscrossed by paths and created for one man's leisure.
"Of course, firstly the war between the Gauss Dominion and Furrelian Union has ended in victory of the latter. According to sources, the former suffered near complete collapse of infrastructure and population" She explained in a casual way,no doubt rather unnerving to most.
Vexar laughed out loud however, having to take out a tissue and wipe away some tears.
"Seriously? How the hell did that happen? Weren't they with the Union?"
"The other ones sir"
"Ah,alright.Regardless this is some sensational news, those aliens might choose to contract me for renovations, after all. Anything else?"
"The Associated States of Natar are experiencing a major stock market crash,we can expect galaxy wide effects"
The man stopped for a moment, hand beneath his chin as he entered deep thought. He kept walking soon after, his demeanor hardly affected.
"Mhm,what else?"
"Sir? Shouldn't you be worried?"
"Why would I? So folks won't want to do business for a while, big fucking deal. My worlds practically run themselves and it's not like I have any employees that need payment" He laughed out loud again, slapping his legs with one hand. The hologram joined this time, letting out a series of pre recorded laughing tracks.
"People will want stuff built for them again, and when they do,the money will come in nice and easy. Is that it?" Vexar continued as the two once again entered more enclosed corridors.
"You still have an appointment in ten minutes. Face to face, according to the message."
"See,people want my factories even now, like I said-" Before he could finish, his face lit up with realization and the man promptly spun around.
"TEN FUCKING MINUTES? SHIT SHIT SHIT" Vexar yelled, promptly picking up the pace towards his office.
The robot lagged behind, eventually disappearing from view only for the same feminine voice to exit from speakers built around the complex.
"I believe their craft has already entered docked on the other side of the building,therefore-"
"YOU AREN'T HELPING" He barked, continuing to make a mad dash through the complex, occasionally knocking over cleaning automatons that failed to get out of the way. After some minutes of this mad dash, the man rounded a corner to see the entrance to his office, nobody was there waiting for him.
Feeling relieved,he slowed down and simply walked to the entrance in a collected manner, letting his booming heart settle down. A quick set of biometric security tests and the heavily reinforced yet well decorated doors retracted, allowing him to enter. Vexar promptly sat down at his desk, turning on various projectors that displayed statistics, graphs and other things he didn't actually understand over his desk, regardless it made him look occupied to any customer.
The one thing he did care about,a hologram depicting camera feeds, showed up last. The devices allowed Vexar to see another man almost at his door, one with quite dark hair that flowed all the way down to his hips and freakishly pale skin. A pair of glasses with shaded lenses concealed his eyes as the visitor stopped once in sight of the door and straightened his tie.
Vexar promptly pressed the controls to open it,turning the camera feed off and watching as his guest walked in.
"Have a seat my friend"
"Thank you,but I'd rather stand" The man replied, moving methodically towards the desk before placing his suitcase atop it.
"I take it you're here to place an order then?" Vexar asked, receiving a nod from the visitor as he began to open the suitcase. He felt relieved, glad that this was going to be a very simple interaction and not some corporate bastard trying to coerce him into deals. He always despised those the most.
"The list is right here,we'd like them delivered in a month if possible. Don't stray from the specifications" The man said, taking out a data slate and handing it over to Vexar. The entrepreneur quickly began to browse over it,his expression starting to show signs of confusion before his eyes widened outright. These were schematics for military grade autonomous drones,of various configuration and armaments, hardly the usual requests he got.
"Wha…..fifty million?! And a hundred thousand of these?! What the hell are you gonna do with all this hardware? Overthrow a damn government?" He stated in disbelief, continuing to scroll through the designs provided and parameters of the purchase. When he glanced up,the man gave him a simple nod,no doubt in regards to his earlier questions.
"Oh……...Well in that case you gotta realize there's certain rules I abide by. No logos,no ID numbers, nothing to that can be traced back to me on the products. I hope you understand"
"That's fine, all we need from you is that the order is finished. Your factories can handle it,yes?"
"You're damn right they can. But I think you made a mistake. It says here that I'm not supposed to add any processing parts" He said, holding the slate and pointing to a particular paragraph of instructions.
"It's no mistake,we'll be installing that ourselves once you deliver."
"Right then,I'll also want 10% of the payment in advance otherwise no dice. This is a risky thing for me"
The man sighed, adjusting his shades before pointing to one of the projections at the desk.
"It's done, you may want to take that"
As if on que,a notification popped up,notifying the entrepreneur of a sum of SIGEC that had been gifted to his account, quickly displaying the choice of whether to accept it or not.
"What? How did you….."
"Just take the money so I can leave,Mister Vexar"
"Right, right" He tapped on the option to accept the transaction, looking up to see the person already heading for the door of his office.
"Forget one month, you can expect them in two weeks!" He boasted as the man, hoping to make it clear that he made the right choice. Afterall,Vexar's factories were unmatched in the whole Corridor, atleast in his eyes.
The guest quickly made his way back to their shuttle, boarding it and laying on a cushioned seat while the automated controls did the rest. His comfort was swiftly interrupted as a voice began to ring amongst his thoughts.
"Is it done?"
"Yes,the order has been placed. He said they'd be ready in two weeks."
"Good,I'll inform our friend the Prime Minister. Get back as soon as possible,I'll be needing you in the parliament building from now on."
"Understood Uq'eik."
