"Sir Vocaphtol, your announcement will be in five minutes," the stage director informed the knighted Fleet Admiral. Weeks of paperwork has left the man tired and it showed in the man's body language and eyes, even if Eltan tried not to let it show. This alliance... if it could be called that, was perhaps one of the greatest mistakes of his otherwise rather pristine career. One that a small number of dirt diggers have capitalized on, but it was not nearly enough to denounce, let alone bring any real trouble onto the Ubian. Still, it was a mistake that he was correcting now, with the collective decision of Accordite High Command. The whole situation with the Dectrose was just that--a total mistake. Mercenaries that had been flocking to join the Corsairs have been returning en masse to Accordite service with many tales of inadequate commanders, political schemes, and utter disappointment. They had gone to seek a good fight against enemies, and all they had found was a massive amount of political red tape and two-faced objectives that ultimately ended in disaster. Concerns had become dissent and now the sign-up rate to the Corsairs was virtually nonexistent.
Politically, the Dectrose had made mistake after colossal mistake. They have made numerous enemies and few allies, and those few allies are of unremarkable strength, even after considering the FDC. Now, the winds were blowing with news of growing hostilities against the Dectrose, and it had played a major role in the vote that had taken place. Madam Fleet Admiral Kyra's accounts from the FDC Meeting provided the pivotal point that swung anti-Dectrose sentiments widely in their favor, and was enough to convince even Eltan himself. Should these trends continue, the Accord has much more to lose than to ever gain. As a result, it was a near-unanimous decision.
"Sir Vocaphtol?"
Eltan snapped out of his thoughts as he took a quick look at the timer. One minute. "Sir, you zoned out for a moment. Are you sure you don't want to postphone this for tomorrow?"
"I'm sure, director," the man simply replied as he stifled a yawn.
"All right, then. You're on air in fourty seconds."
Eltan closed his eyes briefly and took a deep breath.
"Thirty seconds."
"Twenty seconds."
Eltan opens his eyes. The Director is hand-signing the time now. Ten seconds. Five seconds. Three... two... one...

"...with Sir Fleet Admiral Eltan Vocaphtol Irving here for his announcement," the news anchor concluded, nodding to the image of Eltan on the viewer's screens.
"Thank you, ma'am," Eltan nods likewise with a smile before taking a deep breath. "Today, I am giving an announcement on behalf of the Accordite High Command regarding our position with the Dectrose Empire."
"As the viewers know, there has been long debates and, until now, a collective consensus had not been reached. Today, I would like to announce that the Kingdom of the Accord is annulling all treaties and agreements with the Dectrose Empire, effective as of 1800 hours tonight."
"All prior contracts will be upheld to the letter until their expiry unless they are to be terminated by the other party first. If any of you--and I mean any and all members with any lingering relations with the Dectrose, it is highly advised to bring it to Accordite soil or terminate those relations in its entirety."
"Furthermore, this is an unconditional order, signed by the Admirality Board and countersigned by the Marshall's Committee, the House of Genoa, the House of Stanford, and former King Berticul the Third."
"Dectrothian assets on Accordite soil will not be seized, nor processed and will remain untouched. However, Dectrothians who do not with to remain in the Accord is advised to return to the Dectrose Empire at their earliest convenience."
"There will be a press conference in one month's time regarding this decision to annul relations with the Dectrose. If there any questions, that will be the time to answer them, and I will be personally present to answer them all."
"And that is all for tonight. Ma'am, back to you."
