Pavonis Prime: Union Space
The hospital room was far spacious than one might have expected. Filled with medical machines and holographic projectors, most were not in use but several of them were showing the projection of unborn children in front of the women on the bed. Two doctors oversaw her in their white uniforms with smiles on their faces as they ran a scan of the babies, to show to Faith that they were fine and to check that they were doing well.
"Apart from the accelerated growth they seem to be normal kids, everythings in order and very soon you will have two healthy bouncy children" The male doctor smiled as the nurse oversaw the details. It was a good hospital, the best on Pavonis Prime with excellent views from the rooms to the ocean beyond.
It was then the door to the room opened and someone stepped in. The large form and two angelic wings gave her away instantly as did the aura she projected. Saffire smiled to Faith and the doctors.
"Is this a good time to talk?"
Looking at the projection of her two unborns Faith was smiling happy to know they were doing well and were healthy she looked to see Saffire and nodded smiling a bit "It is Saffire it’s nice to see you again" Faith said with a bit of a nervous tone due to the last time they talked. But she knew Sotek wasn't here now and she might be more calmer with him not around.
"How are you?" she asked Saffire with a soft smile. She had her hand on her belly, it was getting large and as the days went on Faith did wish that the babies were born soon, it was a lot of work for her to carry two young unborns and deal with all that came with being a mother.
The Doctor turned and nodded "Of course Princess we will leave you if you need" Saffire then nodded, the Doctor and nurse bowed then turned to Faith.
"If you need anything else just let us know" They smiled and left the room as Saffire walked over to pull up a chair, which turned out to be quite small compared to her, forcing the Angel to merely smile and sit on the floor.
"It is nice to see you too. I am... Conflicted. I came to see you, so I could..." She paused with a sigh "Apologise for how I spoke to you and acted when you first arrived here. Things are immensely tense, and well the one you travel with is not on my good list"
"I figured as much when I saw how you looked at him... And how he looked at you. You gave him some pain too, to be honest with you even I was feeling it myself... Sooner or later I do believe I should get to know what happened between you two but for now I will give it a bit of time, away from the stress of what’s been going on would be a lot nicer" Faith said giving her a warm smile.
"Don't worry about it Saffire I understand" she nodded bit before looking at the Projection “there growing up fast... Kinda... odd... how they are doing that" she said concerned.
"Yes... He was the one who turned me into a monster. But that is a tale for another time, I won’t stress you with the details as you say you need rest" She smiled lightly before looking up at the projection.
"Maybe you understand, maybe you don’t I haven’t found anyone who truly does. But either way I think you are lucky, you get to bring new life into the world I don’t get to do that. So truth be told I have no idea what’s odd or not" She chuckled.
"But the doctors seem to think everything’s ok so that’s a good sign"
Faith nodded "Indeed..." she looked at her "To be honest I never thought I would give life to this world either... Always thought I wouldn't. Kind of surprised I get to have twins so heh..." She chuckled.
"Maybe one day you will get a chance Saffire it just takes time, I mean I am sure your mother might of thought the same yes?" she asked not knowing who her mother is fully yet, but knowing it’s the Empress at least.
"Consider yourself gifted for sure" Saffire fidgeted with her wings, it was almost like this kind of interaction was strange to her "Maybe who knows, although the doctors say I am sterile much to the surprise of everyone. My mother never knew if she could or not neither did my father, the Emperor and Empress assumed Angels could not have kids, turns out they could" She nodded.
"So yea surprises do turn up now and again"
"Yeah indeed" she took a bit to think about how Myric would feel about having two more kids. She was a bit nervous of how he really felt about it.
“How have things been going for you and the others?" Faith asked again wondering, she been trying to relax and ignore some of the things going on with the galactic war that the union was going through. But she knew sooner or later she would have to go back to her home world to deal with what might be happening there.
Saffires face turned dark as she then smiled "We are winning the war at least. The APP should be defeated soon, at least strategically, however a lot of politics will come after for sure. The other commanders are doing their part and seem to be doing well as far as I can tell they don’t talk to me too much apart from to report situations. As for me, I am doing what I usually do, my job and little else"
Faith looked at her worried "Very little... do they have you do anything else?" she asked wondering if they are even allowing her to fight or not.
"No not really, I’m a figurehead and a commander I show my face rally the people and help co-ordinate state matters. They don’t trust me here, nobody does. Admiral Hargun has good reason to... I do not blame him if he hates me" She sighed but shrugged, she knew what had happened.
Faith went ahead and got off the hospital bed she was on and smiled at Saffire, patting her shoulder "I see no reason to hate someone who is kind hearted Saffire, people can hold grudges but they sometimes let their anger blind them... I may not know what happened to cause such anger but I do know I see a person willing to prove herself" she said smiling at her almost motherly she was being very caring.
"Your right, I do want to prove myself. But I was never kind hearted" She looked away unable to look Faith in the eyes.
"I killed Harguns family, I destroyed his home and I killed hundreds more worlds and untold thousands. I remember their faces, every one of them staring at me begging me to remember, angry that they were killed by someone who was to be a beacon of hope. I was corrupted by the Draken, turned into a weapon and used as such, and all because of Sotek. He stole me away, allowed them to mould me into a monster just so he could pretend he was a father. He destroyed my destiny, destroyed any and all hope I will ever have of a normal life." She tightened her grip on her own clothes in anger.
"That’s why I can never forgive him. And that’s why Hargun and those I lead can never forgive me"
Faith listened, she was rather shocked at first but stopped to think of her own deeds. She sighed and carefully knelt down and hug Saffire on the chair to help comfort her "It is the past is it not… I’m sorry it all happened to you… I truly am. I have done things that many others could never forgive as well. I, have killed… lied, robbed and more before I was even give a chance in life. I had things happen... I lost my mother years ago... blamed for her death by those who I called my family, my mother knew the truth so" Faith said pulling away from her "She was the only one to see the truth but knew others would never see that. I even at some points played their game. Being the monster they saw me as, but I changed... you can easily do the same Saffire, it may take time but I believe you can do it. I am still sorry how your life had to start, but know you’re not truly alone" She said soothingly and smiling at her. Faith tried to carefully get herself back up she groaned a bit but sighed once she was on her feet.
"You’re not alone my dear, never were ether. If a day comes and your time shows I’ll be by your side" she said she smiled again at her hoping what she said would help her feel at peace at least enough to confer her.
Saffire took the hug and didn’t quite know how to handle it. She had been hugged before of course but not by a stranger. For a moment she didn’t feel alone, but the feeling soon came back again, still she felt at least comforted.
“Those are kind words, I thank you. And I am sorry for what you had to go through too, at least…” She smiled “You have some little ones to walk away with to brighten your time up” Saffire then stood up and stretched a little.
“You are right though. It will take time. I have to show them that I am willing to put myself forward. To hell with being a figurehead, I will go to Addas and help fight on the frontline against the remaining APP forces there, I will inspire the troops and the people and let off some steam In the process. You will likely see me on TV” She chuckled slightly. She put her hand on Faiths shoulder and nodded in thanks.
“I will ensure they take good care of you here, but if you need anything I have put my personal contact line into your file here if you need me let me know”
Faith nodded smiling "Thank you Saffire and I’ll be looking forward to that” Faith nodded as she went ahead to sit back down "I am sure so you must have many things to be doing as well am I right?” She asked wondering, but not wanting her to be in trouble for starters but also knew Saffire would be getting ready to go "I wish you all the luck in the world”
Saffire nodded with a grin "Yes, but I’ve decided to do none of them. Its time I showed my worth here militarily as well as a figurehead. I thank you for your support, until next time" She bowed her head before leaving the room.
She had a job to do, but she also hoped that both their fates would go according to their hopes.
