Arcadeus System: Vestahl Space
In the wake of the Battle for Voi Con it became abundantly apparent to all parties involved that some form of negotiation was inevitable. AURA was trying to isolate the Divine Davian Empire and to that end, was hoping to push away their AGA allies without further bloodshed. Meanwhile, on the other side of the battle lines AGA members were under increasing pressure from both the Union of Worlds, and Carnaith to withdraw from the conflict and refocus their efforts on the Second Ancerious War, still raging across the galaxy.
Both sides agreed that a conference was in order, and after some consultation, it was agreed that the Vestahl Commonwealth would host and mediate the conference as a neutral third party.
The conference was an opportunity for the Commonwealth to once again appear on the galactic stage. A successful conference would earn them prestige and notoriety, both of which were in short supply after the civil war and its subsequent war crimes tribunal. The conference was something Commonwealth intended to take very seriously.
Security was the Commonwealth's primary concern. The world selected to hold the conference was a temparate, resource rich world only recently claimed by the Commonwealth and it was decided early on that the Commonwealth would meet with delegates out of system and take them to the meeting so as to keep all warships not belonging to the Commonwealth out of the Arcadeus system.
To that end, delegates were given meeting coordinates in uninhabited systems, there they were told they would meet with a representative from the Foreign Relations Office, who would be aboard a Rook Mk.2-Class Cruiser accompanied by four REB-M1467-Class Escorts belonging to the Black Rabbit Security Corporation.
Upon coming aboard, the delegates were greeted with all the pomp and circumstance the Commonwealth felt they deserved. They were met by senior members of the Foreign Relations Office, the Captain of the vessel, and welcomed by a full honorguard in perfectly pressed dressed uniforms. At this point it was made abundantly clear that no weapons, ceremonial or otherwise, would be allowed to remain in the delegate's possession. After a search and surrender of arms, the delegates were escorted to Officer's lounges to wait out the brief journey to the Arcadeus system.
It was a short trip, less than an hour from the meeting location to the planet proper, and then a short trip down to the planet itself. Arcadeus was a world only recently claimed by the Commonwealth, and the spaceport the delegates arrived at was a decidely utilitarian affair, more used to handling cargo freighters and troop transports then foreign dignitaries. Still, every effort was made at formality. Banners and flags of the nations were erected, and workers were cleared out for their arrival.
From the spaceport, delegates were ushered into black SUVs with tinted windows and taken an hour down a muddy dirt road before they were once again transferred to a boat which ferried them twenty minutes out into a pristine, mist shrouded lake. Finally, the delegates arrived at the location the Commonwealth had chosen for the meeting.
They were met at the dock by the beaming, chiseled face of Alistair Stephens, who introduced himself as a senior foreign relations officer. Alistair was accompanied by a gaggle of servants, who at once helped the delegates with any bags or equipment they may have brought with them.
The island itself was pitcuresque, surrounded on all sides by the misty lake, and towering mountains rising just beyond the shore. But it wasn't just beautiful, it was a location that was easily defensible. The forests were patrolled by SRU soldiers, and wherever the delegation went it seemed they were never far from the careful eye of one of the soldiers, watching them from behind opaque black visors. Not every defense was visible, but it was safe to assume the waters surrounding the island were patrolled by all manner of vessels, making it near impossible to approach the island without the leave of the SRU.
After a short walk through a cool, conifer forest the delegates were brought into a simple meeting hall housed within a hopelessly modern architecture, all hard angles and boxy shapes. Floor to cieling glass windows offered a stunning view of the surrounding landscape, and a large wooden table dominated the space, with a seat arranged for each of the delegates, including placards with their names and miniature versions of their nation's flag at each of the places.
Alistair took the head of the table once everyone was seated, and cleared his throat loudly, drawing attention to himself.
"Well then," He said with an easy smile, taking his seat. "Seeing as we're all here it feels appropriate to begin with some brief introductions. I am Alistair Stephens, a Senior Foreign Relations officer for the Vestahl Commonwealth and I have been appointed by Anastasia Malashenko to mediate these discussions,"
He fell silent, providing the opportunity for the delegates to make their introductions.
The news of the location and timing of the diplomatic conference was of no surprise to the Dominion, and it certainly was something they took seriously. Though it was decided to send a career diplomat since it was likely that the opposing force would be reasonably intractable. A single Carteret class corvette arrived just outside of the borders of the location without the usual fanfare associated with the emergence of a Dominion vessel from a hyperfield jump. The Carteret itself was a diplomatically oriented version of the much more numerous Middlesex class Gunboat albeit modified to perform courier and diplomatic duties. To this end most the vessel’s weapons were defensive in nature, and its communications and sensor capabilities were enhanced. Surprisingly the vessel had additional sensor scattering materials in it’s construction to prevent unwanted eavesdropping on state-level communications. It would come as a bit of a surprise that the Vestahl were being paranoid about security and yet it was somewhat understandable as it was not known how many of the belligerents in the recent battle. In response to this Representative Denkarai Solarin Orili calmed the tensions of the crew by simply telling them to maintain position outside of the borders and that he would take his personal fighter craft in to the meeting. He also mentioned simply that these were difficult times and not all species had the inherent stoicism that those of the Dominion had to not panic and weather tough decisions as they had in the last decade. In a text-only message to the waiting Vestahl craft Representative Solarin stated the basics of what the Dominion was going to do.
‘I will be attending the meeting by myself and arriving on the noted planetary coordinates utilizing my own NT-320-D to get there. The vessel I will be launching from will remain at the border I should note that the ship I’m travelling in is a single-seat craft and is a diplomatic model that is authorized for use by government personnel. As such the usual terms apply.*’Assuming there was no challenge to this arrangement the representative would travel as noted.
On arrival, Representative Solarin would disembark from his fighter and activate its anti-theft and anti-tampering features. It was then he noted the excessive reception and thankfully maintained an utter deadpan expression with the only part of his face that wasn’t covered by the heavy respirator he wore. Despite this Solarin was polite, but not exactly cordial, his tone had more to do with the predictions of his counterpart Consul Jahn Soong who had already predicted the meeting would be a failure. The need to travel all over the planet and go to a secret island was also seemingly a waste and only served to color Solarin’s increasingly sour attitude towards the Vestahl. The rest of the trip in was more or less an annoying blur, that thankfully didn’t last. When the time came to introduce himself formally Solarin simply stated in a tone devoid of emotion “I am Representative Solarin, it is my task to represent the Dominion’s interests in this particular meeting. “and with that Solarin waited for the others to make their introductions.
The arrival of the Union delegation had occured quite surprisingly for the Vestahl Commonwealth, in the designated rendevouz point the slender form of a Nighthawk class stealth cruiser dematerialised from cloak close to the Vestahl vessels. It was a nessecary safety measure, for the individual on board was none other than Admiral Hargun himself. Heading aboard the Vestahl ships along with several close guards and aids all of which were without weapons they had been taken like the others to Vestahl space. Hargun was in a surprisingly optimistic mood, despite the sheer scale of the issue before him and the AGA caused by the defending of Davia he truly hoped this negotiation would set the board straight between AURA and the AGA something they could not be done with the APP.
Maybe even treaties could be forged. Hargun didnt care about Davia, they had shown what they were like publically but he was eager to meet AURA, although he had serious reservations about the strange crystalline species called the Andracken that had displayed their capabilities numerous times now. All would be sorted however in time.
Hargun enjoyed the journey and the scape of Arcadeus as he was taken to the location, taking in the sights and sounds of the planet belonging to those that had been on the news. He had not been on a water boat in years and he could not help smiling rather eagerly throughout the short trip to the island, confusing his aids somewhat as he took in a breath of calm air, if he wasnt here to conduct diplomacy he would have been tempted to take a week off here, how relaxing it would be...
However duty called as always and he strode confidently into the place needed, taking a moment to survey the attendees and nodding to each one of them in respect. He was bound to see familiar faces.
"I am Admiral Hargun of the Union of Worlds as you all well know. I am here to respresent my people and the AGA as well in these matters today"
At the appointed meeting location, a single Nuclean shuttle simply appeared in empty space near the Vestahl ships, with the same lack of impressive disturbance or energy burst typical of every single other Nuclean craft capable of faster than light travel via reality drive.
Onboard was a single passenger, a female Nuclean named Aamren. Due to the nature of the conference, the government had elected to send a diplomatic, a rare occurrence since normally military meetings were handled by officers (who were trained in diplomatic matters anyway). However as it was, she was the one who would be the face of the Ecumene today, and to that point she wore a beautiful charcoal colored robes, with form fitting polished metal abdomen plate typical of the armor robes that non military government officials wore. On the breastplate, right over her chest, was etched the Nuclean symbol, a proud reminder of who she stood for today. She bore no weapons, the only equipment being carried being the built in electronics within her armor robes, which among other things contained a small shield generator, and some recording devices so the Ecumene could keep a copy of things that occurred, as well as a communications device.
After arriving at the meeting location, via a journey that Aamren could only describe as interesting, and perhaps a little overcomplicated, she walked into the room and took a seat near the represenative from the Risalles Dominion, thinking it interesting how many other delegates that were present that were not actually involved in the conflict. After doing so, she introduced herself coolly with a bit of a polite smile "Greetings. I am Representative Aamren, from the Nuclean Ecumene."
With little sign of fanfare save courtesy messages, a lone corvette-sized ship deployed a single transport to dock with the Rook. Its two occupants departed and returned all pleasantries shown to them, keeping their telepathy from actuating when shaking hands. The two Annoliddans, Hrokter and Shunin, freely gave up their armaments when prompted to. Shunin went as far as removing all five of her cybernetic limbs, keeping only her legs and remaining organic arm. Hrokter on the other hand kept both of his replacement mechanical arms, but only after removing all but their skeletal framework. His facial augmentations could not be removed as easily, but they posed next to no actual threat despite looking and feeling like the front of a human skull. Hrokter spoke little during the journey to planetside and inland. He simply sat in a meditative pose, going over what he witnessed at Voi Con through his head: how he could have fought differently, if there were different objectives in play, the optimal and next best solutions for each scenario. Shunin was a stark contrast to this; she would constantly interject in other delegates conversations and ask them to clarify on something. When she was not watching the movements and actions of others, Shunin simply gazed out the tinted glass at the landscape. All the while her fingers danced across a disc in her hands, transcribing everything she saw, heard, and felt. The boat ride was a welcome experience to both Annoliddans. They stood at the aft-most part of the deck, letting the water and mist freely fall on them as they travelled. Despite being an aquatic race, neither ever had the luxury of being near a natural body of water in their lifetimes. Once docked, both made a quick effort to dry themselves before entering the building. Hrokter and Shunin took their assigned place at the wooden table and awaited their turn for introductions. Hrokter spoke for them, and whereas Shunin's sounded like a blissful siren, his voice was a damn near perfect match to his grim face. "Thank you for hosting this meeting and for your hospitality, Senior Officer Stephens." His voice sounded unnatural, like the mask on his face was talking instead of him. "Beside me is Senior Scribe Shunin, who shall record the happenings of this meeting for the use of the Annoliddan Inquisition. I am Overseer Hrokter, late admiral of the Voi Con Defense Fleet, now disbanded. As both penance for my failure to defend the system and my active duty to oversee the Davian population, I represent the Annoliddan Inquisition in this meeting."
The Ministry of State's Ambassadorial Cruiser stopped outside the Oort cloud of the Arcadeus system, stopping as per arranged protocols. A single diplomatic shuttle launched from the cruiser and headed insystem. Onboard was a pilot and Sector Minister Nelyrien, who had been assigned to this delegation by Laenas herself.
During the trip, Nelyrien examined dossiers on the various polities that would be attending. Information on some such as the Cricaen and Vaanitas was rather lacking, though in the case of the Vaanitas several in the military services seemed to hold them in a great deal of respect. This should be interesting he thought to himself as the shuttle approached the designated world, passing through various scanner checkpoints and other security protocols..
Nelyrien found it interesting that the Davians were not attending, despite being at the center of reasons for the conference taking place. Despite this oddity, Nelyrien thought it for the best, as the Davian sense of diplomatic tact seemed about as horrid as their IFF protocols...
When the shuttle landed at the world's downport, he told the pilot to stay with the shuttle, and then went to the conference site by way of a Vestahl limousine. Once in the conference room he took his seat and announced in an even tone "I am Sector Minister Nelyrien, Anais Unity Ministry of State. I am honored to be here."
With the success of the space battle at Zaingraf, and the reasonable performance at the battle of Voi Con, Arkus was in a positive mood towards the coming negotiation. Arriving on a destroyer whose weapons were kept offline, he boarded the waiting vessel to take him to the talks.
He was intrigued by their limited technology, it was quaint he thought, that such a nation was hosting powers from all over the galaxy. During the journey he was quiet for the most part, taking in his surroundings and noting points of interest as they were driven, then boated, to the location.
The walk through the forest was pleasant and he breathed deeply, taking in the long-forgotten smells and sounds around him. Once at the building he admired the foreign architecture, before moving inside and taking his seat.
“Greetings to you all, I am Count Arkus Falvayn, leader of the Vaanitas Supremacy in the Ancerious galaxy and emissary of Archduke Karr.” He spoke cordially, taking measure of his counterparts.
With recent successes in battles against the Davians such as the space battle at Zaingraf and in Davian territory at Voi Con the many of Cricaen high command were celebrating victories. The Queen had also personally congratulated many of the survivors. But now there were other matters to attend to with the Nations that defended the Davians and work must now begin on sorting out a cease fire and resolving issues.
Once again Admiral Chase was heading for talks with other nations but this time as an escort of the Cricaen Princess. They arrived at the sector in a diplomatic vessel, they then boarded the vessel that would take them to the talks. The Admiral was quiet as he thought about recent events whilst the Princess was taking in all the sights of this place as they made the journey to the meeting hall.
Once inside the Princess took her seat and Chase stood behind her off to her right. “Many greetings to you all, I am Princess Victoria Kader, Princess of the Cricaen Kingdom, I am here instead of my sister Elizabeth” She spoke with elegance.
Seeing as everyone had arrived and introduced themselves, Alistair decided it was time to get the ball rolling.
"Well then, let's get started shall we?" He said, his voice carrying in the room so he was easily heard. He flipped open a tabled and tapped at the screen momentarily before continuing. "Thank you all for attending. As I'm sure you're all well aware, the sole item on the agenda for this conference is the negotiation of a peace between the power bloc 'AURA' and those AGA nations that were present at the Battle of Voi Con. If no one would like to add anything else to the agenda, then I believe it best we begin by hearing the proposals from both sides of this conflict."
