Waiting in line was a fleet sent out by the UWA to the Dectrose. This fleet was again under the command of Admiral Amastacia. But this time, she was escorting one of the leaders of her faction, the popular Jalaja Al-Fulani. For once, she was going out to meet another faction.
The ships sent out were the carrier Yasmeen and the light cruiser Kennedy. Right now, all they had to do was wait.
Sergeant Edgewater moved along the line, doing routine scans, checking manifests, etc. His job was a bore, and it was thanks to those Annointed that had to go and blow up Kaikoma, sure the Empire said to try and figure it out with them, but in his opinion, they can bugger off. Moving onto the ship known as the 'Western Serpent', he checked the logs, and flagged them on through the line, before coming up onto the two UWA ships, opening a comms channel "DCI Sergeant Edgewater, please provide your transit logs, and the signee's electronic signature.
The small Hawk-Class hung in space for a moment, automatically getting passive sensors working on the ship. The Network ID'd them as UWA ships, but as with anything, he needed to verify them.
Admiral Amastacia nodded to her XO who immediately got on the channel and stated
"This is the Carrier Yasmeen. We will provide you our transit logs and his signature. Stand by."
She then got on a console and after a nifty minute, she had it transmitted to Sergeant Edgewater, saying
"It's done."
Glancing over the document, he found it was signed by a Rear Admiral Margheriti, and came with clearances specifically for these two ships "I see, my apologies for the wait, Ma'am. We have had an influx of Terror attacks and we're just trying to keep everyone safe, you can follow these directions to the IBG Station at these coordinates, they'll check your manifests and cargo quickly and will set you on your way." Without another word, Edgewater's ship moved onto the ships behind Amastacia's, doing the same routine over again.
The IBG station in question immediately contacted the Admiral's ship "Hello, welcome to the Dectrose Empire's border. May we see your Manifests please?"
After thanking the sergeant and watching him do the same routine over again, the XO said to the Admiral through a private channel."
"Terror attacks? Will this be a concern for the safety of our VP?"
"No." She just said before she got on the channel with the IBG station and said "This is Admiral Amastacia of the UWA. Sure. Here it goes."
She sent the manifests to the IBG station. It showed that they only had a minimal number of star ships in the carrier and that all the ships were armed but not too much. A page also stated that the Vice President of the UWA was on board and that she was here for a diplomatic matter.
For a moment, the line went silent, as the IBG station checked with the Network on the manifests, the transit logs and the clearances. Several more heartbeats passed before the line opened "Alright, Admiral Amastacia of the UWA, you and your package are cleared through, we have pre-registered your docking zones, and you're cleared to go through. Have a pleasant day." The cheerful tone subsided, and the ships where given the 'Green Light' to head on through without delay.
It was clear that the checkpoint was a well-oiled machine, from either practice, or from failures and lessons learnt, would be unknown to the UWA crews as they moved on.
The first ship to go through was the light cruiser, the XO commanding it while the Admiral let her carrier follow. The Vice President then went up to the bridge to meet the Admiral as the Admiral wanted to contact the man she met before.
Soon enough, the two ships where in range of the planet, sparkling like a sapphire in the blackness of space, the emerald and steel dots covering it's surface spoke of an unheard of beauty, a treasure in the galaxy. Yasashikaze's name translated to 'Kind Wind', and it was easy to see why, with such graceful and beautiful features, it was a great gift of the Dectrose Empire.
The orbital zones where nicely kept, and soon Admiral Amastacia's ships where in their designated zone, several STIU Frigates came inbound, declaring that they belong to the Special Tactics and Intervention Unit, a branch of the military dedicated to preventing or containing diplomatic incidents, and displaying their credentials. They advised that the 'Package' and Admiral Amastacia come down to the Prime Hotel with two shuttles, one with the VIPs and one with a security detail.
The instructions were clear to them and Amastacia started to leave her ship with the package. Two shuttles were prepared. One with Naval Infantry, another for her and the package.
Once they were on the shuttles, they departed and waited for the STIU to lead them to the Prime Hotel.
Hovering with their frigates in high atmosphere, the STIU agents departed their craft on shuttles, and in synchronization, landed at connected pads to the UWA's own designated pads. They soon filed out, well-practiced and formed a semi-circle around the UWA's 'Number One' Shuttle, as they waited for their Naval Infantry counterparts to escort the Admiral and the Vice President into the Prime Hotel.
The Prime Hotel itself had little outside influence on it's overall design, with broad, grey facets in all different shapes and sizes, the wonderful mirror-like patterns of the building's design, reminiscent of crumpled aluminum, it bore a strikingly powerful display of Dectrothian design. The usual doorman in his purple crushed velvet attire stood ready, the door open to the two guests as he made ready to greet them personally.
The Naval Infantry this time were less armoured but more armed. They had shotguns if not machine guns. Some were issued sniper rifles or SMGs. The rest were armed with ceremonial spears that could poison their targets instantly. For now, though, the Naval Infantry escorted the package, not the Admiral, as she made it clear to the world that she carried a dangerous bio-pistol.
Soon enough, the two VIPs bowed to the doorman before they rose and thanked him before finally entering the hotel. The VP for this occasion was dressed in a gray dress while the Admiral wore her usual uniform.
Even though the poison and bio-weapon would likely pose a significant threat otherwise, the STIU where calm and professional about it's presence, they knew the capability of their augmentations. The concern in this case would be those not residents of the Empire, those visitors that did not share the same as the Dectrose in their ability to defend against a deadly bio-weapon. The situation was taken care of rapidly, and most visitors steered clear of the VIPs.
Following the two loosely, it would seem like a normal detail for the STIU, but they had been trained by the Nightstalkers, and their abilities where not to be underestimated in their duty to protect those visiting or representing the Empire. They kept close tabs on anyone and everyone, including the security detail, because it was always healthy when protecting VIPs to have some paranoia.
They guided the two to a special service elevator, and then filed in, others occupying the other available elevators, and more going to screen the stairs, effectively securing the lobby and soon the building in one fell swoop. The STIU agent nearest the call screen inputting a series of numbers, before they ascended towards the suites.
Half of the Naval Infantry remained outside in order to guard the hotel while the rest stayed with the VIPS. For now, the VP and the Admiral were whispering to each other in one of the dialects of the tongue of the Alonsenai and Syrans. They were discussing about who they were going to meet. It seemed to the STIU that the VP didn't want to meet some certain people but the Admiral was looking forward to a particular person. She giggled even until she looked to one of the agents escorting her and the package
"And where will you all be once we start talking?"
He turned, his matte-grey armor, with a slight lavender tone in the stripes covering long portions of his powered armor, said though his faceplate, the synthetic voice coming out "Ma'am, we will be positioned in an adjacent room, with two STIU Agents guarding the door with your own Naval Infantry. We have two agents on the roof that will provide additional cover for you, and should you require immediate emergency assistance, we will be in the room shortly."
The unwavering confidence in his tone, if one could call it that, displayed total control of the situation, and soon, the elevator doors opened, and they had arrived on the suites level. Turning to the left, and arriving at the door, the end of the hallway let in the natural light from the planet's sun, creating arching rainbows on the floor as the light beamed through the crystal view. With a wave of the STIU Agent's hand, the door unlocked, and opened, revealing Margheriti at the suite's stainless steel table. Carbon fiber woven into it's edges created a striking look, as the agent ushered them inside, before leaving them in the room and closing the door behind him.
"Ahh, Amastacia, welcome to Yasashikaze! I'm glad to see you again, though I must say, is this who I believe it is?" Margheriti immediately bowed to the both of them upon entry, staying courteous and charming as ever.
The first one to enter was, of course, the VP.
She, Jalaja Al-Fulani, was as dark as a black hole. But beautiful. In her gray dress, simple but sexy looking, for it allowed her to show her figure, which was like an hour glass. Her colored hair of white and darkish red accompanied by three long feathers on her left ear adorned her face which was blessed with a tribal tattoo of blue around her right eye while scars ran from the forehead down to the bottom of the eyelids.
The VP for now did not wear her iconic light purple key. Her blue cloth decorated her shoulder blades and cleavage while her dark fingers reached for Margheriti as she approached, stating
"I am who you believe I may be. My name is Jalaja Al-Fulani. Call me Jalaja or Jay-Jay."
Admiral Amastacia simply smiled and waited for the VP to give her permission. She nodded and the Admiral said to the other
"It is good to see you again."
"A little early in the introductions for the nicknames, don't you think Ms. Jalaja?" He chuckled as he rose bowing again before her and taking her hand gently, pressing his cheek against the top of her hand quickly, taking it cautiously to avoid angering the other. Though it was a gesture of trust and of good faith, as he spoke again "It's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Jalaja" his gaze turned, his visage brightening "And you too, Admiral Amastacia, you're here sooner than I expected" He let go of Jalaja's hand, and rose up.
"How did you enjoy the view from orbit?"
The VP smiled and chuckled as she said "Oh, what a polite officer."
As for the Admiral, perhaps the Dectrose saw her cheeks go bright red, her ears twitching as she said "The view was very impressive. But I think I am looking at something even more interesting than the view of the city."
The VP then rolled her eyes and clapped her hands, stating
"Very well. Now that we are all here, perhaps there is another party that shall come to play or are we as is?"
The Rear Admiral rose an eyebrow, not so much with hair as made of some slate grey augmentation, with small orange dots on the underside of it. It still moved quite flexibly. "I see that, Admiral Amastacia, and I am the only one here Madam Jalaja, I would invite you to take a seat if we may, and if you are parched, I have food and beverages available in the kitchen on the counter." He himself took a seat, putting down an RAVD Node in the middle of the table, the stainless steel surface now aglow with a rippling surface from the node's activation, the hologram hovering mere millimeters above the table's surface, as his identification chip was recognized and opened up the computer interface, which he hid away for now, leaving the table glowing dully.
He pondered for a moment, before blinking as if he remembered something he recently forgot "Also, if the air in here is too hot or cold, or the humidity is too high or low, you may set your desired climate at the controls nearest you Amastacia."
The two ladies agreed, sitting down together. The Admiral cast her weapon away in its holster, keeping it safe while she waited for the VP to say
"I am all right. So is the Admiral escorting me. I am surprised that I am going to be meeting only you when I myself have come to this place. But nevermind, I am delighted. I would like to ask for some water."
He slowly gave a nod, tapping his wrist to order a drone to detach from some corner of the wall, soon gathering several cups of water, and delivering it to the table in front of both of the ladies, dipping it's front as if bowing before returning to the wall "Yes, I am also quite surprised, though with our 'Leader' and High Diplomat off at the FDC Meeting, Vibius and most of the high-ranking Admirals out on missions, including those that caused the terror attacks recently, it would seem that we are in short supply on high-ranking individuals." He paused, thinking over something momentarily.
"Though, I was told that more Admirals are being sent in that are seasoned against the Meralis in our previous campaigns against them. But alas, you didn't come here to learn about the Meralis, you came for another reason, or reasons." Tapping his finger on the table, the hologram reacted and brought up a miniature display. "So, ladies, what are we here for?"
Only after the water was served and the two ladies heard him out did the VP express what she wanted
"I want a better agreement to be placed between the two of us. For the sake of all of our factions, I want a universal agreement of friendship, fortitude and fertility. In essence I want both of us to agree to mutual relations, mutual defense and mutual trade and exchange of food. I heard much from Admiral Amastacia here. So I am hoping, with you speaking to us, we may come together to discuss closer ties. And also to develop it."
He allowed himself to smile wide, this was something that his career really needed, after Morgan had talked to the TDA, she herself got a promotion, same with Terri and Zypher. If he could secure this relationship, then his Admiralty would be secured, though ultimately it would be up to the Admiralty Board if he would remain as an exploration fleet. He wouldn't mind, but a Battle Fleet command was always tempting. "Ah, so a Trade Agreement, one including goods, service and specifically food products, as well as a Mutual Defense Pact? I'd be more than happy to improve our relations, and bring our nations closer in.." he glanced at Amastacia, "several ways."
He brought his attention to the display, bringing up the appropriate documents, and then made the edits needed for the trade agreement, as well as a stock MDP, fleshing them out, reading them through as the sun beamed in, slowly reaching him before with a twitch of his pinky, the window dimmed. Once satisfied, he sent the documents over through the hologram to both of the representatives, the documents themselves where able to be signed with anything, like before. "I'd suggest you read through them, though everything should be in order, unless you want something else very specific."
The VP nodded and whispered something to the other admiral in her own language which the other understood because she was forced to blush and look at him before looking away in embarrassment. At the meantime, the VP just chuckled as she read through it and then said "One more thing. I want to see the two of our factions conduct a more formal meeting. Schedule it for me and one of your superiors please. I'd also like this Admiral of mine to spend a few days with you in order to know more about you. In return we may allow you to spend some days in one of our worlds as well."
A light chuckle escaped his lips, before nodding in affirmation "Of course, I can schedule a meeting with High Diplomat and Grand Assault Fleet Admiral Terri, I think you will find her as pleasurable to work with as myself. Though, I assume Admiral Amastacia will need vaccinations? I don't wish to give her an allergic reaction to something we eat or drink, or even use as decoration, so I would ask of you, if we may have some biology records of your races. In exchange I would give you the same on our major races." He slid his finger across the table, a document for a records exchange materializing, tailoring itself to fit Margheriti's words.
It slid over to the other side of the table as he leaned back on his chair, placing his hands together and neatly in his lap, awaiting to see what they would say next.
The VP spoke for her and herself included
"Not to worry. I will supply you her profile."
And quickly, she transferred the data about Amastacia and her biology into the document before sliding it back to him and then saying
"On the other hand, I also would like to know more about the High Diplomat. And I would like to warn you that for as long as I represent the UWA, I do not wish to deal with businessmen. I have a hatred for that particular kind of people."
Raising his hand in thought, he spoke almost calculated in response "Well, you might not like speaking to David Arrington then, he's come from a business background, and has since joined the ranks of Diplomats we have here. Even making the Dectrose's FDC Representative position, his career is quite impressive, but it can't be compared to Terri." He gestured and the drone brought him some water as well, taking a sip before moving forward "Terri herself has had an interesting history, starting from her early Imperial Space Force Academy days to her assignment as a Mining Operations Commander. Though with an ongoing investigation, has been noted that her grades in the Academy where manipulated by a very hateful man by the name of Saber."
"He is now serving time in an Artifician prison system, as far as I've been told, for his crimes against peace. Though the ISF came back for her after some time to assist in the war against the Meralis Republic, our galactic neighbors in our home galaxy, the reasons for these wars are muddy, and odd at times, but the Republic has also initiated some wars against us. Truthfully, there are no innocent sides in our wars, both of us are guilty of them in one way or another. How Terri fit into these was in the role of a ship commander, an Escort at first, but since moved onto a Cruiser she named 'Hana', after a lifelong friend that she had lost in the wars."
He took another sip, as if parched, unknown to the two, his internal databank was being accessed to deliver this information, and was using some additional power that was slowly heating up. "Now, while Terri is an amazing commander, Saber, who had been assigned to that theatre of operations, dismissed her and put her on exploration duty, seemingly as a punishment. You see, you can choose what you want to be in command of, if you do well in the Academy, her, she had such low scores that she didn't have those liberties, as with Saber's antics, she was doomed in her lifelong career, that is until she came here."
"She was then assigned by Fischer to scout out the Galactic Core, to try and meet new people, and was successful in opening relations with Zypher, which led to many beneficial trades and diplomatic missions, giving her the boost she needed to become an ISF Admiral once again, in command of a battle fleet again. Her following diplomatic assignments also got the Dectrose in close with the Annointed, giving us several mobile fortresses in the process, and also when she fell for Gavin, a defector of the Annointed that joined our ranks. Terri was then speaking to Skalia, when the Red Letter Day Soldiers engaged them both, killing Skalia and attempting to assassinate Terri, in which the ATAF protected and saved her from the assassins."
"Since then, She had her original ship destroyed by the RLDS, her home base destroyed and Gavin kidnapped by Skalia when she destroyed Kaikoma, and was assigned ATAF guards to be by her side at all times. Suffice to say, she has rose through the ranks like a great star, but she also has endured many hardships to get there. Though, I hope to do the same and follow in her footprints, in rising from her position as an Exploration Fleet Commander, like Fischer as well, and become someone of great importance in our nation."
The VP nodded and listened all the way until she stopped to speak to the Admiral by her side. She then, after what seemed to be happy conversation, turned to the man and said
"I think that will be all. I would look forward to meeting this representative. Hopefully she would be as great as the Admiral by my side as well.
She has done much for the UWA. She participated in many operations securing our frontiers and making sure all the worlds under our control did not spiral into chaos by keeping space travel safe."
The VP then said "On the other hand, it seems that she has an interest in you. Would you like to say something about that?"
"I can assure you, she is quite the leader, the Dectrose are proud to have her amongst our ranks." His hand went for the water, drinking it slowly as the woman spoke, before pausing at her last sentence and placing his cup of water back down, finished. "I must say that Admiral Amastacia is a fine officer, and she is dedicated to her duties. Professionally, I would enjoy working alongside her in many missions, though I'm sad to say that my personal thoughts must remain off the records. I have to maintain professionalism and some decorum in this matter, nonetheless, I can speak to her regarding these personal thoughts after our diplomatic meeting."
It was then that his pale cheeks began to tint a little, though this was soon corrected by his nanites, restoring the bloodflow to normal. His gaze focused on Amastacia for a moment, before glancing down to the node "Though, if that is all, we can conclude this meeting, and Admiral Amastacia may stay with us here on Yasashikaze to enjoy our culture." His hand figeted with the node, an uncommon gesture for Margheriti. "Also, don't forget to sign the documents" he added with a chuckle.
The VP signed the documents and stood up and said "Well now that is settled, thank you very much and I hope you will enjoy the company of Admiral Amastacia. Bye bye." And she stormed out of the room and locked them inside, giggling as the Admiral protested, bashing the door and saying "Vice President, what are you doing?!"
Tapping the node off, Margheriti chuckled, filing his report of the mission before standing up and calling in the direction of Amastacia "Well, I suppose I'm your chaperone for a few days, shall we begin with the suite's kitchen? I'm quite hungry and some pasta sounds nice right about now."
