A fleet of three Escorts jumped to the edge of Vaanitas space. Their crystalline hulls seemed to glow in the light of a yellow star nearby. They sat motionless in space, weapons and shields lowered to show they didn’t mean to fight. Amber sat on the bridge of the center Escort and activated long range coms.
“I know you can hear me. I’m Amber and I represent the Ancient One Hegemony, we’ve come to see if you want our further involvement in this fight with the Devine Davian Empire.” Amber spoke with a cheerful tone. She looked up to the view screen and waited for the Vaanitas ships to arrive.
In the short time they'd been here Admiral Kavaar had been disturbed far more than she was pleased with. Assorted nations and a wreckage had infringed upon her area of the defence whilst other Admirals were content and relaxed, reading books, and enjoying baths. Not her. No, once more she'd been disturbed, though at least this time she knew by who.
Proceeding to her flagship she entered the bridge with barely veiled irritation. The crew, who had learned not to ask, set a course to the source of the transmission and formed up with a patrol before jumping.
"Ancient One Hegemony, what a pleasant surprise." She spoke as they opened communications, the tone of her voice suggesting it was anything but.
“Now, don’t sound so irritated. War is brewing and no one can be mad about that.” Amber replied, her voice still sounded cheerful, a stark contrast to Admiral Kavaar’s. Amber watched as the fleet arrived, a smile spread on her face.
"Indeed, your decision to assist us at Zaingraf was most intelligent. Tell me, surely it was not just our technology that swayed you?" Kavaar asked, her tone still harsh but her mentality much more relaxed now.
“That was partially why. Though we had problems with how the Davian’s conducted war. While I love to fight, killing your allies even if by accident is frowned upon. We were most likely going to break ties with them eventually due to their little stunt a while ago.” Amber replied.
"I see. There is a lack of trust regardless. You seemed so eager to abandon your former position for technology. How could we trust you not to do the same?" she queried, tapping her fingers on the arm of her chair.
“We have a vast collection of weapons and technology already collected, hard light was something not found in the archives. From what we’ve seen in this galaxy we highly doubt anyone will have anything of value to us.” Amber said honestly. “Though I fully understand what you are concerned about.”
"What guarantees could you provide of loyalty?" She challenged as she relaxed in her chair, her small fleet sitting in defence around her vessel.
Amber thought and consulted the Ancient Ones around her. A decision was reached. “I’ve been told that to ensure our loyalty I will be sent over and stay with you until the war is over.” A hint of nervousness filled her once cheerful voice.
Kavaar raised an eyebrow. "And how do I know you are of any importance to these crystals?" She countered, tapping her finger.
“I am one of their Head Admirals you could say, hence why they are allowing this.” Amber said. “They are doing this as a show of trust in you with my life.”
She mused at this information. They had no method of verification for this but she had to make a decision. "Very well. You will be given more information in due course. Come across at your leisure." she told her.
Amber thanked her and left the bridge. She made it to the hanger where a singular shuttle awaited her. She boarded and the craft took off and headed towards the Vaanitas ship.
Kavaar headed down to the hangar where a portion of the formidable marine compliment stood, the front rank being honour guard. They stood to attention as the shuttle entered and Kavaar waited, tapping her foot.
The shuttle hovered silently before four ‘legs’ folded out of the ship and landed. The hull of the shuttle shifted and cracked open and stairs began to form. Once finished Amber walked down the steps. No Ancient Ones accompanied her, it was only her onboard the shuttle.
“Hello there.” Amber held out her right hand to shake Kavaar’s.
The Admiral paused before extending her hand down to shake the girls. "Greetings." Kavaar replied as the marines stood to attention and waited.
“So,” A wicked smile grew on Amber’s face as she shook the Admiral’s hand “Let’s go to war shall we?”
"I assume you have the authority to speak for your people?" she questioned as she broke the handshake and began walking towards the elevator.
Amber followed next to her and nodded. “Despite the age I look I have power in the Hegemony, a word will be sent to command and preparations will be made.”
"Good. With me. We have a meeting to attend." She informed her as they proceeded to the bridge and headed back to the base where Amber would be transferred.
