Anti-air batteries filled the polluted skies of Lorenx as the Troop Carriers soared overhead. Aboard several squads of BloodGuards, Zypherian troops, and Marian Thraxx himself, awaited the signals to deploy into the riot-zone. Recon had proven difficult due to the compact nature of the complex, narrowing sight lines and allowing for more dug-in positions.
This would be no easy task to pry them out.
The Assault officers were members of the ZYPHER Garrison with Lorenx's embassy. However the small garrison, despite the several companies that were stationed to assist, were too small to deal with them with this riot in full force. They called in reinenforcements from an Intercation Group on outer patrol, however a strange signal is preventing the signal from reaching the fleet in due time.
ZYPHER Shock units were a mixture of Dinterians and Andromdian agents. Some were nervous, hearing how intense some of these riots were becoming. The remains were happy that they were able to get action. Kavian who nodded as they got the signal to go in lifted his rifle and tactical shield as he looked at his allies and fellow brothers as they stood up.
Over the comms, Marians voice crackled through; his regular, mostly sarcastic tone replaced by the seriousness of the situation.
-//-Status of the complex is unknown. Firearms and turrets have been seen inside, maximum caution, maximum aggression. I want them to be stamped out. No prisoners, no mercy. We will cut this rebellion out like the tumour it has become.-//-
The Blood King's back shifted slightly as the mechanical wings that adorned his jump-pack shifted in preparation for the jump. Once on the ground they were to drive the insurgents back and into the centre of the complex.
-//-Die, or live to die another day.-//-
The dark phrase of the House of Blood echoed over the macrys comms just as the massive doors opened, and Marian leapt into the raging skies.
//This is Governor Mavlin to all ZYPHER elements. Your authorized to use any means necessary to assist our Echoian allies. We are working on getting additional reinforcements for you as soon as possible, however our entire garrison is engaged at the present time. ECHO military command will have tactical authority over your actions. Follow them as you would mine. I will keep you posted on updates. Mavlin close.//
Was the signal broadcast to all ZYPHER forces assisting. The troops followed Marian into the fray. The Shock Squad of 20 Assault officers dove in from the dropship.
//Heads up Squad. Were may have to move quick and fast. Fire Units keep to your shield holders and try not to die. Provide cover for ECHO soldiers as well.// The Squad leader said on internal comms. Kavian was one of the soldiers who wasn’t afraid to get their hands bloody, however it was far be it for anyone that were prepared for what lay in the walls of the complex. Unlike their Echo leader, ZYPHER units had their own drop gear. Once they got close to the drop point they activated a Gravity repulsion attachments on their armors that slowed their descent as they closed in.
Marian's wings folded in on themselves, allowing the King the mobility he needed as they were immediately set upon by rogue Echo's. The wiry frames leapt from cover, blades drawn, quickly engaging the King and the Zypherian assault squads.
Marian's twin blades spun in angry, bloody curves as he cut down the first three echo's who dared challenge him. Others were more cautious about rushing the meat-grinder that was Marian when he wasn't holding back. They would have to exhaust the King, or get him unaware.
Those that did not engage the King directly were met with the silent blades of the ShadowGuard as they slid out of the darkness and into the fray only to retreat back into their cloaked state after strategically maiming various Echo's with projectile weapons.
As the ECHO king engaged, so did the Assault Squads. Kavain was nearly blown backwards when the first rouge charged at the shield. Had it not been for the raptor guard behind him, he would’ve been the first dead. Remembering the training of the Squad Fort formation, he was the point of the form. When one of the 4 arms swung in his shield jolted and the loud plasma swish made the solid jump. The Raptor behind him kept Kavain’s balance, while he fired his rifle over his shoulder. The flash from the rifle was dimmed from the ballastic port on the tactical shield. 2 Soldiers on each side, held swords of their own to fight back some of the raging rouges as they swung at the groups. Each ZYPHER unit moved in a line, only slightly behind the King as they battled their way through the charge.
Seeing an opening in one particular echoian enemy he moved the shield just enough for one of the blades to parry. With a swift movement the sword was diverted, creating a large enough opening to thrust froward. He could feel the jaw give under the force he exerted before being met with a kilimond burst to the face. However in the mist of his move, he felt a blade stab behind the shield and cut into his hip.
“Argh!” He grunted before shifting his weight lightly to block another attempt. The guard raptor behind him assisted in parrying the blade with his sword.
“Are you good?” He asked. Kavain nodded, continuing to look forward, ignoring the breach in his armor layer. He’ll have to stay more focused. The supporting squads from ZYPHER that formed in behind the tactical bearers fired their weapons at the charging attackers, some at short-range using shotgun equivalent weapons to stow the advance in their favor.
Upon seeing the tactical nature of the Zypher assault squads, many of the Echo's turned and ran. Nothing would be gained and no honour would be lost in retreating and attacking again when the enemy was less aware. This was a war of attrition, and they certainly had the disadvantage.
Marian cast bloody swathes through the retreating echo's but was warned about maintaining his proximity by the Macrys unit in his Helm.
The ShadowGuard perched on an elevated platform some fifteen feet above the ground, surveying the immediate area for more enemies while Marian talked with the auxiliaries.
A small holo of the complex appeared in Marian's palm as he approached Kavian.
"They'll try and draw us out as long as they can while they activate some defensive warstriders at these locations."
Marian's clawed digit traces rings around small portions of the square complex.
"But we need to gain control of the main anti-air guns before air support can be of full use. I will send my shadows to deal with the two over in the east, but I'll need you and your squad to rendezvous with me after taking down the two in the west. I'll take the northernmost tower, then meet up with you outside the under gates. Understood?"
Kavain nodded as his squad leader, Leoan nodded in acknowledgment to the King.
“Alright, we’ll go in by two squads, set up and hit both of the towers at the same time and neutralize targets as they come up.” Leoan said to the 20+ members in attendance.
“Many of you are experienced in silent Ops, the skills are to come in use now. Stay quiet, be quick and we’ll take the targets and let our air friends stump this out.” Leoan said.
“Remember were not fully equipped to take on an army and most of our battalions are in use right now in other areas so don’t play renegade. Our Intercation reinforcements will be here eventually so give them something left to do.”
The rattle of gunfire in the distance alerted the Echotian king of the immediate task. With a quick nod, Marian broke from the huddle and sprinted off towards the complex.
Leaping to gain some distance from the earth, Marian’s metallic wings unfurled; small jets igniting to propel him off towards his destination.
———////—————///———
Marian’s wings twisted to launch him into an upside-down dive bomb, only to pull him up at the last second; folding into their casings as he took a few steps.
The gun swivelled back and forth as it desperately tried to down an Echotian mining vessel. These rebels were only after wholesale destruction. Maybe they had demands, or maybe they wanted attention, such was life at the bottom of the scrap heap.
Marian himself had grown up in one such place, granted not for long, before he had been drafted into the war efforts against the ACO. He had never been a Dren’Ovak prisoner, nor had he been branded with their heinous tattoos. But he still bared the scars of war and torment upon his body. He felt no pity for these fools now, they were directly attacking Lorenxian craft; an act that if it had been carried out by any other sentient nation, would also be met with death.
