The Nuclean battleship Stellar Sword activated its reality drive, disappearing from existence and reappearing a moment later in the target system, the first in an area in which activity had been detected to the galactic south. It arrived without fanfare, as was the custom with Nuclean vessels, one moment the space was empty, and the next a dark blue ship 32.2 kilometers long occupied it. Sensors and shields were active, as the ship began to scan its surroundings.
In the field of view sat a cloud of gas and dust 8,000km in diameter and 2,000km tall. It appeared to be a small, flattened, gas giant. Suddenly hundreds of long blue ships flooded from the cloud, in total 375 ships gathered outside of the cloud. The entire Ancient One fleet.
“This is Raven of the Ancient One Hegemony to the Nuclean ship, you have entered restricted space without authorization. State your purpose and leave after purging all data of this place from your computers.” Raven sent to the Nuclean ship, she looked at the massive blue ship and saw that it was alone.
“Order all ships to stay on alert, but do not raise shields or arm weapons.” Raven commanded. A comforting voice told her that the Nucleans had come intentionally and they might have business they wished to discuss.
Within the battleship's command chair, Shipmaster Malriel's eyes widened as the readouts from the sensors displayed the odd flattened planet and the various data that was being gathered about it. Then the warships began emerging from the cloud, the navigation computer quickly labelling them as likely belonging to the Ancient Ones, whom the Ecumene had just met a short time ago.
She listened to the incoming transmission from Raven, which confirmed the assessed owners as the Ancient One Hegemony. "Delete this place from our systems...a rather odd request" she muttered to herself, before sending a transmission of her own back to the AO fleet "Greetings Raven, we apologize for intruding on your territory. Activity was detected in this region and I was sent to investigate. Might I ask what this place is?"
Raven scowled but the voice told her she was allowed to tell them. “You are in the area of Stella O Fortuna, the capital of the Ancient One Hegemony in Ancerious. The activity you most likely detected was it’s construction.” Raven replied. She looked around at multiple sensor readings from the fleet as well as the station itself.
Malriel raised an eyebrow at Raven's mention of the word capital, directing the sensitivity of the gravimetric sensors be increased as well as focusing the active sensors on the flattened gas giant, allowing them to see through the thick layers of gas and onto whatever was below.
"That makes sense considering the magnitude of the project. Although I do have to wonder why you would construct your capital inside of a gas giant"
“We did not intend for it to happen, due to the stations mass it collects gas and dust from it’s surroundings and nearby planets.” Raven explained. “It also provides a small security measure to passive scanning."
Gravimetric scans from the battleship, passive in nature and therefore undetectable, rendered a fairly accurate rendition of the snowflake-like structure beneath the gas cloud, which was saved and analyzed.
"I see. Well we shall depart then. Good day" Malriel replied, ordering the reality drive to be prepared for jump.
Raven watched as the Nuclean ships left the system. “All ships stand down. Return to the city, but stay on high alert. If they found out about the city, then others would have as well.” This whole matter was annoying and wasteful. She personally hated alliances, but orders were orders.
