In the far off system designated AF-003875 it consisted of four planets a molten world close to the sun, an icy hell scape of a world just outside of the habitable zone, a brown dwarf gas giant and a dwarf barren planet on the systems edge. The TDASV Forward push emerged silently from its wormhole into the surrounding void of the system. It was another routine stop on its six week tour around this sub-sector of the Avarian Frontier. The crew were content and they all eagerly counted down the days until they would get to rotate and visit home again, although for some it would be visiting what’s left of it. They moved to their first scanning target in the system. It was the dwarf barren planet on the edge of the system, cold dry and without an atmosphere many of these planets existed in the galaxy and they must of scanned dozens of them already but orders are orders. Once in position they fired up the active scanners and entered a geosynchronous orbit around the planet as to not miss any details.
Two Ancient One Destroyers jumped in several hundred meters off the TDA ship and scanned the ship. The Commanders talked with one another before agreeing on a course of action.
“We are the Ancient Ones, you have come close to our space, explain your actions.” The Commander telepathically sent to the ships crew. They were wary even if by their standards this new ship was inferior.
The sudden emergence of two massive ships, right up against the small corvette put a sense of dread through the crew. Right after they appeared simultaneously everyone heard it they were being spoken too through their minds. Some of the crew lost their cool and panicked others remained calm. It was clear these people had a different means of communication although it was what the TDA considered to be in the realm of science fiction. The commander ordered action stations and had a message relayed back to the TDASV Frontier spirit. She also sent a broad frequency message at the ships saying: “we explorers of the Three Domains Alliance Expeditionary Force, we come in peace and mean no harm. Any trespassing we are guilty of is purely accidental. We have sent word to our fleet commander and they are on their way with a diplomat to open negotiations.”
The Ancient Ones listened to the outward going transmission. “They are bringing diplomats.” One Commander stated. “What should we do?” the other Commander asked. “Don’t appear hostile, I am coming.” A New voice joined. An Escort jumped in and joined them. After listening to the transmission from the TDA they sent one back. “This is Raven, I am a representative of the Ancient One Hegemony. We will speak with your diplomats.”
It seemed like almost an eternity before the Frontier Spirit Showed up in the system it emerged from its wormhole in front of the two destroyers who were alongside the corvette. Captain Marco quickly assessed the situation before he decided any actions.
“Action stations Sabre two, we don’t want to be caught off guard here we may not get as lucky as last time. Get Alexander up here too.” He said sternly to his subordinates
The XO sounded the alarm and the crew scrambled to their stations, they manned the guns but left them powered down, the shields were raised and soon the iconic blue shimmer would fully encase the ship and fighter pilots sat ready and rearing in their launch tubes. Alexander was fully prepared this time within two minutes she arrived in the CIC and reported to Marco.
“What are we dealing with today Captain?” she asked politely
“I don’t know the report said that they talked to them through their minds.” He said looking at the report with a scrutinising look
“Alright we’ll just transmit on all frequencies again and get them to come aboard, if your passive scans are correct I don’t think we can land in their ships.” She said pointing out the sensor data on the command terminal.
“Alright, I’ll take a back seat again and let you work.” Marco said respectively.
Alexander picked up the headset that was on that command terminal and gave a nod to the communications officer.
“This is Denise Alexander of the TDA expeditionary force diplomacy corps. We humbly invite you for negotiations aboard our ship if you would do us the pleasure of meeting us in person.” She said respectfully.
“Scans read the ship is raising shields.” A Commander said, “Prepare to raise ours.” The other followed. “Wait, do not appear hostile.” Raven barked. “This is Raven representing the Ancient One Hegemony, my ship will pull up next to yours and I will board with two Commons. Is this alright with you?” Raven turned to the two towering behemoths behind her. They simply stood there and said nothing.
After hearing the return message Alexander and Marco let out a sigh of relief. They were friendly and were open to negotiations. She gave the go ahead and the AO ship moved up next the Frontier Spirit. This was another excellent day for the diplomacy corps Alexander thought.
“Prep docking tubes to receive and get the honour guard down there full parade dress.” Marco bellowed throughout the CIC
“Well, shall we go and meet our guests?” Alexander asked enthusiastically. She and Captain Marco left the CIC for the port side docking tube where the AO ship was currently being guided in.
The hull of the Escort extended outward to meet the docking tube. Raven waited with her two Common overwatchers standing behind her for the door to the TDA ship to open. To say that Marco and Alexander were surprised was an understatement. When the inner doors of the docking tube opened and a woman appeared with two crystalline monstrosities everyone was shocked but the marines in the honour guard maintained their composure and carried on.
“Attention” The honour guard commander roared. As he did the forty marines came to attention as the woman and her bodyguards walked through the ranks of the marines either side of the corridor until they were greeted by Alexander and Marco.
“Greetings, I welcome you to our ship the TDASV Frontier Spirit. I am Denise Alexander a representative of the Three Domains Alliance government.” Alexander said cautiously not knowing what to expect next, suddenly she received a bump on the arm from Marco who was standing next to her.
“Oh, this is Captain Robert Marco head of Exploration fleet one and commander of this vessel. May I ask who you are?”
"I am Raven, one of the many representatives of the Ancient One Hegemony. The two behind me are Ancient One Commons. And thank you for allowing us to come aboard."
Raven said humbly. She had pail skin with dark black hair that was held at the end by a black bow, and she had light blue eyes. Raven appeared to be in her late teens or early twenties. She was wearing a black blouse and dress accented with red. She also was wearing a necklace that looked like a skull with spider legs.
“A pleasure to meet you raven, I hope our talks today will be exciting and rewarding. If you’ll follow me to the conference room we can get started.” Alexander said happily
It was a moderate walk to the conference room having to zig zag through the dimly lit hallways of the ship, going past areas of the ship where crew members were hard at work. Some stopped and stared at the visitors and the commons as they walked by, others turned the other way walked off. They arrived at the conference room and went inside. At a glance one could see that it had a much more aesthetically pleasing look it, it was brightly lit unlike the rest of the ship and had several monitors in the wall of the room, in the middle was a large table with an integrated holo terminal. Sitting down at the table Alexander gave a gesture for Raven to be seated.
“Alright, since from what I have seen you clearly are not from around our parts I’m going to skip the usual line of questions we have to give to new nations we run into.” Alexander said politely
She pressed a few button on the table terminal and the lights dimmed and brought up a galactic map. On it was the current location of the ship as well as claimed TDA territory which in it contained the lone system of Gorganos Prime.
“This is our current base of operations in the Ancerious galaxy. If you wish to conduct further diplomatic business this is the place to go. Your point of contact there will be my boss, he’s real nice guy and he’ll help you the best he can his name is Albert Tyldum. He’s the head of extra galactic affairs and the entire expeditionary force. Ok so second order of business I would like to propose to you a Non-aggression pact so that our two nations can co-exist peacefully in this region of space.” Alexander said enthusiastically.
Raven looked at the map and hummed to herself.
"I believe a non-aggression pact can be arranged, we have no quarrels with you and you have none with us." Raven looked to the 'Gorganos Prime' system. She turned to her two overwatchers. When they didn’t say anything she turned back around. "We will be heading to Gorganos to meet this Albert Tyldum."
“Excellent, we look forward to further diplomatic talks in the future.” Alexander said as she bought up the NAP document on the terminal in front of Raven.
“So, strange question but why did you want to dock with the ship instead of coming in a smaller shuttle craft? Normally that’s standard protocol as docking two large ships can be dangerous.” Alexander inquired while Raven examined the document in front of her.
Raven looked up from the paper with confusion. “What is a ‘shuttle craft’?”
Alexander looked at raven scrutinisingly. They had autonomous crystal monsters but no shuttle craft of any kind; I just don’t understand she thought. With a few button presses the centre terminal displayed the TDA 4900 series Transport.
“This is what we call a shuttle craft, but its actual designation is the 4900 series Assault Transport, but we call them Droppers. Since when you leave them on combat missions you just jump out mid-air. So if you’re willing to trade something in return I’m sure I can convince the captain to let you take on with you.” Alexander said happily
Raven studied the shuttle with apt curiosity. "We can study it." One of the Commons said to Raven. "Yes, we could."
Raven looked to Alexander and smiled. "We will be willing to trade raw minerals and resources you would find value in." Raven offered.
Alexander looked at raven confused. Surely these people don’t think they can trade us trinkets for technology, or perhaps the concept of trade was foreign to them who knew Alexander thought to herself.
“yeah, we’ll need something more I mean this a key piece of equipment you seem to missing here, we need a deal that’s a bit more balanced. Surely you have something to trade in return like power generation, propulsion systems or sensors.” Alexander replied back
Raven felt annoyed with the fact that they wouldn’t take raw material. But they need to trade something.
“We are willing to give them our sensors or Void-Matter Reactors.” One of the Commons said to Raven. Raven thought about it and smiled.
“We have several impressive Sensors and a reactor system that is quite impressive.” Raven offered. She leaned over the table slightly, shifting the light on her face.
Alexander thought to herself for a moment before she gave Raven a response. Sensors would help but their reactor technology may be the most interesting of the choices.
“Alright, Reactors for shuttles sounds like a good deal to me. As well as the NAP I’d say this meeting was extremely eventful. But before I walk you down to the hanger bay so you can fly off in your new ride, I’d like to put something forward to you. You see in this in this region of space known as the Avarian Frontier several nations including ourselves have come together to form an alliance known as the Western Regional League. Its main points are self-defence, free trade and joint projects between the nations. So would your nation have any interest in joining the Western Regional League?”
Raven listened to the proposal and hummed. “The Western Regional League sounds like a good thing to be a part of.” the other Ancient One Common said to Raven. She nodded and leaned back.
“We accept your proposal to join this Western Regional League, once we have we will sent a group of Commons to teach you how to use the Void-Matter Reactor. Think of it as our first joint project.” Raven stated with a small smirk growing on her face.
“Excellent, we look forward to any and all future relations with the Ancient Ones. I hope you’ll get along just as well with fellow WRL members.” Alexander said cheerfully as she was typing away on the terminal and after a few brief seconds she pulled a small data drive out and slid it across the table to raven.
“This contains all information you need for the Western Regional League, which includes all the pacts and agreements that nations who sign are a part of and the locations where you can come into contact with our fellow members the Risallas Dominion and the Divine Davian Imperium. I also included the technical schematics for our 4900 Series Transport that is currently being prepared. So if you’ll follow me to the hanger.” Alexander said as she left her seat and opened the door.
Once Raven and the commons left the room from what seemed out of nowhere Captain Marco appeared behind Alexander. He wasn’t as impressed with the diplomatic talks as Alexander was.
“Is this seriously happening right now we’re just giving up a piece of hardware like that and all I get is a “Hey, need a shuttle to give away so we can make more friends” in a direct message to the bridge” Marco said angrily in a hushed voice so the AO delegation wouldn’t hear him
“Sorry but it was a concept they never heard of so I took the opportunity, just leave it for now we can discuss it later. Are the crew ripping out the trackers and IFFs like I asked” Alexander replied back
“Yes it’s all taken care we even have remote piloting set up so we don’t have a big stuff around getting the ship from ours to theirs. I’m going back to the CIC for now, but this discussion isn’t over.”
The delegation moved from the conference room to the closest hanger, going through the same zig zag of dimly lit corridors again. The crew was still fearful of the Ancient One commons as they walked past as they either just ignored them, stared in awe or walked off around a corner. Some were also confused as to how Alexander could be walking with such monstrosities and have a massive smile on her face. The doors to the hanger opened and the delegation were met with a different atmosphere. The room was well lit at must have had at least 100 people in there working away on standing down a squadron of fighters after the stand down order was given. Alexander guided the AO delegation over the middle of the hanger where a 4900 Series Transport lay in wait for its new owners.
“Alright here we are, just climb in and have a seat and we’ll remotely pilot the ship over to yours. I thank you for giving us such an opportunity to meet your nation and to have you join our alliance” Alexander said with a more professional tone to the departing guests.
Raven made it back to the Escort with a small smile on her face. Once they landed Commons began to scan the shuttle top to bottom. “Commander, we are to leave this system.” Raven ordered.
The Escort and two Destroyers turned from the two TDA ships before jumping back to AO space. There Raven ordered for the materials for a Void-Matter Reactor are prepped on her Escort.
“Now, we set sail for Gorganos Prime!” Raven barked. The five Escorts left an Orbital Defence Platform and followed the map that had been given to them by Alexander. Raven smiled as she had heard that Amber had made first contact with another species and got a full map of the galaxy.
“An exciting galaxy it seems.” Raven said to herself. “Jump” Raven threw out her hand as she yelled. The sound of the Trans-Dimensional Drive starting filled the room before blackness encased them.
