The soft thud of explosions intermingled the snaps and cracks of live rounds as citizens fled the streets of Libert'e's largest city Hollen. (Hoy-Yen)
It was unclear who was firing at them, but a group of cybernetic soldiers were fighting for the main line while the regular army got the civilians out of harms way.
"This is Hell Jumper Unit A22 responding to enemy insurgents. We need air support ASAP!"
Was one prominent looking soldier's request to the orbiting capital ship Navras.
"This is Navras Space Command. Negative on that air support. Area above you is too hot for fighters to get down there. Find a hole and wait it out."
The Navras Space Command, under the leadership of general Joshua Odinas. Brother of the well known war hero Jacob Odinas, was located in the forward most observation post in t he front of the ship. Right above the surgical laser that they used to knock out enemy support weapons and bombard planets.
"We can't retreat now. Too late. How's the main support near Praetor doing?"
Asked the dark skinned soldier. "Jakistanis inbound with frigates and two destroyers. Sir, Praetor is burning."
Jacob grimaced in thought. "Call home. We need support from the folks on Costellon. They'll have to call in their own units if they want this colony to survive."
He walked over to the planetary line. "All units on Hao and Libert'e. We are ordering a full insurgency report. All civilians must be sent to muster stations while we clear out. A Full retreat is in effect."
As Joshua walked out of the observation post, he had a sudden thought. He walked towards the ship board trolley. Looking out at the green-blue expanse algae ocean that was signature mainly to Hao, he watched the battle in the distance that was Libert'e.
It was clear to him now. Atlantis had discovered the colony he helped found in Ancerious. This day will live in infamy.
"Hello?"
The massive expanse of ship that was the King of Kings drifted slowly towards the home world's slip space rupture zone.
Inside the main suite of the sitting executive stateswoman, a pretty young lady sat at the desk of her former mentor. She was drumming her hands on the desk listening to the report coming in.
"... Ma'am. Praetor is lost and Hao is falling. Libert'e is also burning. This attack was coordinated, but we are unsure how to respond. It seems that we are being attacked by two nations."
"Is Atlantis among the aggressors?"
She asked. Her voice like fine wine.
"Yes, ma'am."
Was the reply from Joshua Odinas.
"Okay. I'm sending the ninth Capital fleet and the sixth Capital fleet to assist. A coordinated invasion of this magnitude must be contained before we here at home face it." She said. "Good luck Mr. Odinas. Call me in three days. Find a rally point as well to meet up with the incoming fleet."
Jaquelin cut off the line and looked up at the massive grandfather clock that also belonged to her mentor. The clock tolled the time to midnight. "Madame Stateswoman," A booming voice behind her called out. "Yes, commander Jacob?" The Jaquelin asked, looking at him. "What is our destination?" He asked, indicating that slip space rupture has been breached. "Head to Tars." Jaquelin replied. Pointing out the closest planet in the Milky Way to Ancerious.
"Yes ma'am."
Joshua got off the line.
He took the trolley to the bridge.
"I need captain Abarei." He said.
"Yes, sir." Replied the bridge officer in front of him.
Captain Albarei, a tall light-skinned older man with a deep scar above his right eye going down his right cheek, walked over to Joshua and saluted.
"Joshua," he said smiling. "Got good news for me?"
Joshua, who returned his salute smiled. "Yes. Two battle groups are under way. The Sixth and Ninth."
He smiled brightly.
"Okay. What's our rally point?" Asked Albarei.
"Tauries. Hao's moon. We can monitor the fight from there and send active deployments until the support arrives."
Was Joshua's reply.
"Good, good."
Albarei responded.
Joshua walked out to the trolley again. This time, headed for the Cryptology department.
As he got there, he heard news that the Hell Jumpers evacuated the military academy on Libert'e and were headed for the Navras.
He sat down in Cryptology smiling. "What's with you?" Asked Don Haran. the head of Cryptology. "We are going to wage a computer war on our enemy." Joshua responded. "Go prepare your men and women. Tell them to wreak as much havoc on this new enemy and Atlantis as they can."
Don smiled. "I got it." He said.
"You tell your men what to do, I got my orders. I'll wage unholy war on these new enemies to freedom."
Joshua walked out towards the trolley and back down to observation.
Waiting for him there, was A22. The Hell Jumper who fought on the ground.
It was unclear who was firing at them, but a group of cybernetic soldiers were fighting for the main line while the regular army got the civilians out of harms way.
