Name: Coalition of Kepler. Shortened typically to ‘Kepler’
(Coalition flag, de facto national flag)
(Centauri flag, limited use on starships)
Motto: “Venture forth into the unknown”
Species: Human, small amount of AI brains. Notably the Colonial Establishment Development AI system.

Leadership: Currently jointly led by the Kepler Colonial Council which has 60 members, each of them are elected from various population districts across the world and system. Notable heads on it are acting Brigadier-General Marcel Leander (acting head of military), Chairman Andrev Balinsti (head of government), Kistara Iashiv (acting State Secretary), other interest groups and civilian leaders from the colony.
Government Type: Currently the acting government is the form of a council board with elected officials from both the civilians on world and the remnants of the Coalition Air force There are sixty members of the elected Council government, each of these representatives are elected from proportionally sized population districts (each district has roughly 5000 people living within it). The Colonial Council is the head legislative branch of the government, while the Office of Chairman (or Chairwoman depending on who is currently in power) is the head of the Council and acts as the head of government.
Economic System: Mix of state run and private owned enterprise that works together for the common goal (for now) for establishing and normalizing the world to be a new home for themselves. Many private owned vessels from the initial days of the fleet have been incorporated with one another for a variety of ‘guilds’ that work together in similar goals and to have a more unified and productive work system.
Social Structure:
None presently, however it is more or less starting to fall in line that being part of a Guild sets someone higher up the ladder in terms of standing and an ability to make change. Military is typically seen as a societally different entity than the majority of Kepler and is higher structured and with a clear hierarchy of command. Same applies with the government.
Culture: A mix of collectivist with the greater goal of surviving as a whole with individual actions and tendencies within its people. There is technically no state religion and many people either do not worship religion or are a part of a smaller sect in the world.

Homeworld: There is no official homeworld for the people of Kepler due to it being formed of humans from both the Coalition and Centauri. Currently the major capital is the world of Kepler which is a habitable earth like world with a variety of biomes. Has its own native plant and animal life, and is being seeded with more normal plants and animals that humans are familiar with. No native sentient life that is currently alive, however there were long extinct sentients known post extinction as the “Ar’kan”. Has a small asteroid ring around the world, does not have a moon.
The official ancestral homeland of humankind is Earth.
Major Population Centers: Colony ship / station ‘Seeker of Hilidia’ (station formed by the colony vessel and many smaller and unneeded vessels docking and joining to it above the world, currently 1 million frozen embryos, 100,000 ish living people), Colony city of New Hotch (largest city and capital with a population of 60,000 on Kepler’s equator), colony city of Tiran near the north of Kepler, nature rich area and is very agriculturally rich), many smaller outposts and stations across the system.
Brief History:
In the year 2361 in the closing years of the Coalition - Centauri year, the Coalition was a multi system alliance to break free of the Centauri colonization blockade while the Centauri was a comparatively large loose system of business entities based on Proxima Centauri, a cataclysm broke out. While Brigadier General Leander and his fleet were bringing recently claimed Centauri vessels, colonial ships, turn coat Centauri military and civilian assets, and coalition civilian vessels from the recent victory at Fill Station 17 they were struck by a space time anomaly. This sent the fleet and scattered them across space to a new and unknown galaxy.
It took several years for the remnants to be refound by General Leander’s ever growing force of vessels before they discovered a system with a habitable world aptly named ‘Kepler’ in honor of the long deceased astronomer. They were stranded on the other side of the universe with no hope of ever returning to what they knew, so this remnant of Humanity along with the claimed colonial vessels established themselves on this world to start anew. Crucial in the role of this restart of Civilization was the former Centauri colony vessel ‘Seeker of Hilidia’ that was repossessed not days before the anomaly and provided a large number of assets critical to start life again. Such as an orbital station, a shipyard gantry, mining equipment, a million frozen embryos of humans, many million more for animal and plant life, robots, prefabricated cities, etc.
For a while the military led by General Leander was running the show, it took time for his promised reforms of civilian governance came into action (and with pressure from the various guilds). The military that once controlled the day to day actions during their nomadic crisis stepped aside and guided the newly formed Kepler Colonial Council to become the democratically elected government.
Important Industry:
-Space mining (notably the raw material rich system and asteroid ring)
-Agriculture (keeping everyone fed)
-Production of needed and consumer goods (Ie keeping the world running, more ships, people clothed, etc.)
-Exploration of nearby space to find other suitable worlds.
-Scientific R&D to find ways to improve current methods and to find new ways in order to get humanity a step ahead.
Diplomatic Doctrine:
Currently wishes to have calm relations with alien races and governments, but is still rather pragmatic due to their current situation of scraping by in their new system.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Military Doctrine:
Long range hit and run asymmetric tactics are favored to use precision strikes, good communication, and good maneuverability to stay at arms length with the foe. Small and unshielded vessels, such as what the Air Force operates, are not suitable for close range combat. WMDs such as nuclear weapons are only used when needed.
Military Branches:
-Coalition Air Force remnants- Largest branch. Operates all spaceborne military assets, most aerial assets. Currently there are 830 ish vessels including a dreadnought that are tasked with protecting the system, long range scouting, surveillance, patrol, etc. 12,000 members
-Colonial Army- Ground based army for the defense of Kepler, not a very large branch with only 5,000 members.
-Various police forces- Civilian volunteers lead and run police forces to help communities uphold the law and to protect them against crime. Currently 4,000 volunteers across the planet and system.
Tech:
-Weapons: Typically a mix of kinetic weapons such as railguns and coilguns, fusion powered missiles, and a small amount of laser and particle based weapons on more advanced vessels to deal with lighter vessels. Ground based weapons are a more traditional mix of bullets, explosives, missiles, shaped charge jets, etc.
-Defences: Extensive use of electronic warfare, countermeasures, nuclear deterrents, hull polarization to protect against electromagnetic and energy based weapons, etc. Extensive use of energy dispersing ceramics and composites for armor from infantry to starships.
-Power Generation: Nuclear fusion reactors, small enough to easily fit on smaller vessels and provide enough power for the ship to run fully.
-Propulsion: Large use of fusion based nuclear starship engines, high thrust and highly efficient, but tend to have heating problems. For FTL there is large use of devices called plane shift drives’ that allow for near instantaneous FTL travel, but they require the user ship to be well outside any gravity well and to enter well outside gravity wells. This is also coupled with high energy requirements and lower accuracy at ranges over 45 Ly.
-Computation: Small use of AI, currently only the colony ship AI exists along with several others. But still large use of smaller yet still powerful computer systems as to be expected with a spacefaring civilization in order to perform immense calculations, run systems, and general actions in daily life.
-Civilian: Typically a similar level to that of the military in terms of materials and power systems. Though they typically do not get the weaponry to go with it for vessels.
