“SUBLEADER TWO, I thank you-“ Emissary Dalyth began after he opened the door to his inner chamber, a look of disgust and confusion on his face, before he interrupted her.
“-and who the hell are you?” SUBLEADER TWO’S gruff demeanor shown through here now much as it had earlier. It appeared that he had not just forgotten her, but their scheduled appointment; he was slightly unshaven and unkempt at present, yet he had an abnormally large sword in his other hand as he glared at her through the door.
“…for your so graciously agreeing to see me.” She smiled apologetically as a peculiar revelation began to occur behind SUBLEADER TWO’S eyes. Shit, he thought to himself. Shit shit shit…
“It slipped my mind,” he mumbled, as he remembered that unusually forgettable nature Dalyth had. He frowned with an unhappy glare, and held a finger up.
“One moment please.” He added, and the door closed. Dalyth gently sighed, and waited. She was here on account of a communication from the Ascendancy. Such communications were awkward things as she couldn’t appear on cameras even if she wished to, so they were limited to text based communications. This was fitting in its own way of course…
SUBLEADER TWO hated the forgetting. It was an annoyance he wished he could forget. Forget the forgetting? He chuckled to himself as he dressed himself in more appropriate clothing. He caught his reflection and wondered if he should shave. Nah he thought to himself. Best not keep the little one waiting. He quickly made his way back to the door he picked up his axe. No sense in being careless. He then wondered what he would say. He then pondered what the others would say about his greeting. The thought brought a grin to his face. He opened the door and shouted, "WELL, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR LITTLE ONE?" And then even louder he yelled, "COME IN!" Dalyth looked like she had expected the greeting but the sheer volume appeared to catch her off guard. Still, she did an admirable job of hiding her shock and discomfort at the, far too loud, greeting. SUBLEADER TWO led her in and offered her a chair that was meant for someone much larger than her. Once she had taken her seat SUBLEADER TWO sat on the ground just in front of her. Axe on his lap, chin on his fist, and with a smile on his face he asked, "So little one, what brings you here?"
She was admittedly quite unsettled by the axe, but as was her character her face was perfectly in denial of the uncomfortable proximity of that rather old fashioned weapon. “I bring myself here today to present two matters to you, SUBLEADER TWO. From within her robe’s large sleeves, she removed a small silver saucer. Gently, she squeezed its rim, causing tiny legs to begin to extending from its underside, and the upper portion to begin opening as if it were a flower entering bloom.
“The first of which is a gift to you, and to your PRIME LEADER in turn.” She gently sat the disc onto the floor between the two, and smoothly a holographic star map appeared before them. “It goes without saying that an official of your station would be well informed of goings on in this category, to the best of your ability certainly. But there are obviously limitations there…”
SUBLEADER TWO carefully examined the map, and without any hesitation identified it, much to the private impressment of Dalyth.
“This is CENSORED FACTION space,” SUBLEADER TWO announced quickly, his eyes turning from the map towards Dalyth. Her small figure was dwarfed by the chair, but a confident smile-small, but ever present-flirted across her face.
“They will shortly be conquered by you in at least one reality,” she mused, as the projection altered to reveal anticipated territorial acquistions for the FACTION IN QUESTION. “They have been silent of late, but their command structure is on the verge of collapse due to internal pressures. In most timelines, they descend into a prolonged civil war, and effectively fade into history. Alternatively,” she added, as she leaned forward towards SUBLEADER TWO till her nose was nearly touching his, “it is quite plausible to see it falling under the domain of the PRIME LEADER, thanks to the brilliant initiative of one of his most trusted confidants.”
SUBLEADER TWO turned back to the map. Conquering worlds was easy, but the conquest of an entire galactic civilization was something else entirely. It wasn't enough to simply defeat their armies and topple their government. The common folk had to yield willingly. Dalyth mentioned that they were on the verge of collapse due to internal pressures. If he wasn't careful an external threat, namely his army, could end up uniting them. But if he waits too long they could fracture and he'd have to pick up all the pieces individually. A tedious task. This was going to take some time to figure out. He looked back at the ambassador and said, "This is a most interesting gift. It's not everyday I get an entire empire!" He paused before adding, "Even if there is some assembly required."
Dalyth reached down and tapped the saucer, causing the image to begin reconfiguring to a new one. “You will have the greatest chance of success if you allow the civil war to begin, and then sweep up the pieces from there via backing a particular subfaction. Though I must say I do not anticipate I need to offer much guidance in the regards of tactics to one such as yourself.” The thin smile faded from her face as the map contracted towards a particular star system on the opposite side of the galaxy, and much closer to SUBLEADER TWO’S definition of home.
“As for the second item of business…we have received instructions towards our purpose after the Great Confrontation. I will shortly be informing the PRIME LEADER after this meeting…” she began, and thus commenced a proposal of noteworthy scope.
