An Uprising Supressed.
It had taken months, countless casualties, areas destroyed and untold political struggle to bring the strategic world of Tau Volaris back into allied hands.
One that would be later seen by the allies and others in the galaxy as a somewhat pointless venture, and one that would have little impact militarily on the coming war. However many saw it as a major statement one that would echo into the coming war to show that the allies would fight where needed no matter the odds.
Tau Volaris, located in the only large stable route into the Golden Expanse was settled by the allied forces during the 1st Ancerious war, with the Union, Tenebrae, Spartan Empire (a sub faction of now Metropolis) the IRS and DHR. Settled jointly for its strategic importance as well as its vast mineral wealth the storm wracked perilous world was also much enjoyed for its archaeological aspects, the capital of the planet being located within the towering inverted pyramid dubbed Tau Secundus, created by the Infurnuii long ago in another time. A myriad private companies also came to Tau Volaris, contracted by the allies to mine the mineral wealth the planet soon became one large mining endeavour, spotted with large domed cities to protect from the constant storms and to function as defensive installations to protect the planet.
However towards the end of the 1st Ancerious war a prominent ex Spartan general called ‘Zeon’ began to gain popular interest across the galaxy, calling the various nations in the galaxy tyrants he spoke out against the allied forces and stirred up unrest across multiple worlds. Rallying other rebels to his cause including Carnaithian rebels, Tenebrae separatist factions and IRS Denouncers Zeon brought his seemingly rag tag rebel army to Tau Volaris, using the final weeks of the 1st Ancerious war where the allies were embroiled in combat to turn Tau Volaris to his cause, inciting rebellion across the planet, destroying PDF elements left behind the allies and bribing or ‘convincing’ the private corporations. Tau Volaris was then used as a staging ground by Zeon, making galactic broadcasts about his conquest and vilifying the allies many more flocked to Tau Volaris either to join his cause or to merely band with others who sought to fight against the allies including the enigmatic Union Red Angels, the Church of the Draconian gods, USM Rebels and also the Nivosist Correctors.
Seeing the opportunity nations such as the Grand Empire of Capitol, now slowly rebuilding and reforming thanks to its new Empress Inara sent additional forces to Tau Volaris, promising to help Zeon and hoping to extend their political influence to form the foundations of an anti-allied power bloc in the galaxy (which would later become the APP as we know it today) With a somewhat rag tag space fleet and a reinforced and easily defensible planet at the ready the allies decided enough was enough and a liberation fleet was formed.
The 2nd Battle for Tau Volaris began shortly after an allied rendezvous. Union, Spartan, Tenebrae, USM, Carnaithian, Templar and Visone forces duelled with the rag tag space fleet, engaging the Capitol, Spartan Rebel, Templar Rebel, Tenebrae Rebel, jury rigged corporation forces who were also supported by the Nivosist Blinker Carpalis. The battle was hard fought, with Capitol Admiral Raxis being in control of the space forces he withdrew out of system when the rebel fleet was destroyed, culminating in the suicidal boarding of the Blinker by Spartan and Union forces. At a great sacrifice of allied vessels the allies finally initiated the first orbital drops, the liberation of Tau Volaris was well underway.
With allied forces seeking to take the lesser cities first Union, Templar and Visone forces were the first to take one of the large cities from the hands of the Spartan rebels, after days of bloody street to street fighting the dome was captured, the USM forces landing further north to help assist in the pushes towards the sea surrounding Tau Secundus, ready to secure beaches and ports for the future assault on the capital, sadly its energy shield was too powerful to directly take down and so generators across the planet in various other cities had to be taken down first.
Tenebrae and Carnaith forces also took another city on the eastern side of the planet, contending with the fanatical and terrifying forces of the Red Angel, Union troops once loyal baying for blood as they constantly attacked. The allied forces found the civilian and worker population of Tau Tertius utterly butchered, hung from streets and lined carcass pits across the city. Moral was hit hard at the sight, and after a week of fighting the allied forces finally killed the Red Angel himself, a power armoured monstrosity not human anymore, atop a mountain of corpses in the city’s main plaza. After finding strange glyphs plastered all over the city clean up teams burned everything, the city being reduced to a ruin after its generator was taken down.
Other noticeable events also occurred, the IRS stormed multiple dome cities fighting with the vigour they are renowned for, the Visone and Templars assisting the Union and USM take the western planet as the Spartans and Tenebraen’s took the central domes. However a number of incidents occurred that would change the playing field for sure. The Celestial empire, ever enigmatic before they mysteriously left the galaxy took notice and set up their own forces on Tau Volaris, kidnapping stray soldiers and creating a strange forest in the south western hemisphere. The Church of the Draconian gods agent Hain as well half way through the campaign assassinated Zeon, after a tough fight the Drake agent took Zeons head and declared himself overall commander of the rebel forces.
EPA as well who commited forces to the invasion after space superiority was attained made a joint operation with the Union on Tau Profundus, the location of the Nivosist Correctors, however after intel in fact revealed that the leader of the Nivosists, Maximillian Nivose himself was a true Axiom the Union tried to facilitate peace between EPA and the correctors. Stalling EPA to try help evacuate the Nivosists EPA ended up killing the Union commanders, hacking their battlefield overview system and nuking the city with Union and Nivosist forces inside. Managing to fight off EPAs betrayal and evacuate the Correctors and their own forces the Union pulled out of Tau Profundus unfortunately loosing Nivose himself to EPA forces who soon took him prisoner.
The Templar and Visone forces also pulled out during the operation. The Visone themselves coming under huge assault by an unknown force presumed to be the Unnamed the small ancient empire was wiped out in quick order, the Templars being close supporters of the Visone being targeted by an Unnamed Bio weapon, wiping out billions in a short space of time. Before the allies could assist all that was left was Visone ruins and remnants of Templar forces who had either escaped or gone rogue. However during these allied operations it was also revealed that the eldritch creature the Abberation was present and operating on Tau Volaris, wiping out the Carnaithian rebel dome and spreading its influence as the allied forces finally began their final assault on Tau Secundus.
The allies assaulted the capital with everything they had, the various rebel forces including Capitol fighting a desperate last standing against the massive allied attack. Huge casualties were taken on both sides, but the synergy of the allies was far superior to the various forces that stood before them, streets were swept, plazas taken and underground tunnels and areas liberated. The allies even sent in two of their stealth masters, the Union Legio Spectra and USM White Hand operatives, both turned up to find Hain in command, and in league with the Abberation which was to use the pyramid as a staging ground to commence an invasion into this portion of the galaxy. Killing the Capitol and USM Rebel generals first both operatives attempted to kill Hain however were foiled by an escape plan and the monsterous abominations created by the Abberation of fusing its energy with Drakes. Fighting a vicious battle the allied forces below were also surprised to find the rebels were not just fighting the allies…
Swarms of Abberation forces poured out of Tau Secundus underground maglines and supply routes to slaughter the rebel and allied forces alike. With both operatives calling on allied joint command to enact the contingency plan the allied forces rapidly made a fighting retreat, singular units making valiant rear-guard actions to slow down the Abberation while the others escaped, the USM being notable examples of this alongside the Spartans and IRS. With the allies clear and the rebel remnants now embroiled in fighting the eldritch horrors the allies activated their contingency plan. A Union Stage 1 Plasma Coil missile was launched at Tau Secundus. The blast was powerful enough to blow away the storms surrounding the entire area, making it visible from space. Tau Secundus city was utterly destroyed and the underground areas carved out and collapsed. The allies celebrated their victory, the planet was theirs.
To their dismay however the pyramid was intact. Slightly damaged from the blast but still standing, the aberration and rebel forces however were utterly vaporised. The allies cordoned off the pyramid and a large area around it, but the planet was liberated, running skirmishes with rebel remnants would continue but the months of fighting had paid off. Garrison forces by the Union, USM, EPA (who was now distrusted and had mostly withdrawn after the events at Tau Profundus) Spartans and Tenebraens now sought to rebuild, however many forces were recalled and as the Abberation, CDG, Capitol and the Axioms drew up plans to retake it the galactic landscape was changing.
War was closing in, and many empires sought to defend their own borders, the allies in particular having dealt with uprisings of their own by CDG activity within their empires recalled their forces from Tau Volaris, something that would be disastrous as when the 2nd Ancerious war finally broke out, CDG, Axiom and Abberation forces quickly attacked in huge force and wiped out the garrisoned allied forces, taking the planet from allied hands and declaring it APP controlled.
However as the Immortal Empire now moves against the Abberation the 3rd Battle of Tau Volaris has begun…
