Junior Fleetmaster Slyph stood on the bridge of the repaired Matterforge, reading information on the various displays
He addressed the station's main AI, "Erran, set a course to the Anokan system, half standard distance. Shields at 100 percent and weapons hot."
"Yes sir" the AI responded, formulating the exit point, turning up the reactors, and diverting power to the neccesary systems.
"Reality drive active" and the Matterforge jumped towards the system, crossing the immense distance in an instant. Five AU distant from the star, the immense station suddenly appeared, ready for the oncoming fight. It immediately began scanning the system, getting the layout and locations of warships and Eos installations.
Meanwhile, a lone cruiser appeared at the very edge of the Tasteel system, quietly gathering data on the layout and composition of said system via passive sensors and long range visual data, and transmitting it home via its quantum communications system. Once it gathered enough data, it microjumped to the edge on the other side of the system and continued gathering data.
In the Anokan system the large star sat silently flaring, the large system in general was very busy and bustling. 3 gas giants orbited in the medium reaches while a few burned and scorched worlds orbited close to the star itself. Around the largest gas giant lay numerous orbital cities, as well as a massive shipyard array. Dotted around it were point defense batteries as well as a few starships. Civilian traffic was heavy in system and all in all around 84 ships were flagged in system, some reparing in the orbital dockyard along with some new ships being built. The appearance of the Matterforge was so obvious that the civilian ships started to flee the system. the various vessels located around the system immediately jumped into orbit around the gas giant and the point defenses activated around the ship yards, as well as a interdictor field first installed during the Eos civil war, a precaution for stopping any heretic vessels from crippling the shipyards as had been done in the past.
Meanwhile in Tasteel, the remains of the fleet protecting the Great Eye had come for repairs, most if not all were completed by now in yet another large dock yard located above a inhabited world. with only a few planets in system the inhabited world was medium sized and well populated, with the populance being located in seemingly walled cities of elegant architecture. Once again the prescence of the enemy, detected by the planets massive sensor arrays, caused the defenses to activate, the fleets around the dockyards entered a defensive formation, while 3 heavy cruisers jumped to intercept the enemy scout vessel, engaging it with weaponry as the point jumped in close to engage.
Once it had ascertained the position of the shipyards, the Matterforge accelerated rapidly towards it, firing its millions of particle bolt turrets and plasma torpedo turrets, which raced ahead of it towards the shipyards in a cloud of blue.
Meanwhile, in Tasteel the cruiser jumped further out of the system, where is was joined by 2 armadas. The 480 warships then continued in towards the shipyards as fast as possible. They were arranged in a loose cloud formation, with the cruisers, supercruisers, and carriers travelling with their ventral sides facing outwards. This enabled them to hit any approaching vessels with their large energy projectors.
The defenses around the Anokan ship dock activated and immediately began shooting down the incoming missiles, the wave weaponry sufficiently powerful enough to engage the majority of them to good effect. However the plasma bolts sped on, severly damaging the facility as explosions rocked the massive structure. What squadrons of defense fighters launched to engage the matterforge as it got ever closer, meanwhile the small fleet of 48 ships sped forwards, beginning to fire long range weaponry at the massive station in a defiant effort.
Meanwhile in Tasteel the High Exemplar watched as the read outs of an enemy fleet could be observed just outside the system perimter, he smiled "480 odd ships... Seems they have learned not to try and overwhelm us" He ordered for the defensive fleet to stay in position, and the 3 cruisers that had jumped after the scout ship made full speed back. As the Nucleans made their way in system in their defensive formation the High Exemplar merely watched and waited, it would be several more hours until they reached them.
The Matterforge continued towards the shipyards, directing all the firepower it could at it, and using its shields to absorb the returning fire. On the other side of the station, all available particle bolt turrets fired at the oncoming 48 warships, directing a focused blue hell at them.
In Tasteel, the Nuclean vessels performed a jump to the edge of the interdiction field, and then continued towards the shipyards in formation. They started firing all the particle bold turrets and energy projectors at the shipyards that they could be aimed at it. Huge blue energy beams and thousands of particle bolts zoomed towards the station and the defensive fleet around it at the speed of light.
In Anokan the sheer volume of fire that exploded into the shipyards frame caused it to break up, the monolithic structure used to construct ships blew apart, its internal reactors going critical as the singularity escaped consuming parts of the shipyards before collapsing into nothing. As it did so the interdiction fields went down surrounding the mass of space, and that was all that was needed. In a blaze of light above the Matterforge a fleet of a 920 Eos ships appeared with the unmistakable massive form of the Great eye ripping back into reality, although much of the damage it has sustained had been repaired massive chunks of its hull were still missing, having all the civilians successfully evacuated it re-joined the fight immediately activating its large interdiction fields and charging its main weapon, unleashing its smaller wave weapons on the Matterforge. The fleet also leapt into action, launching attack craft in their tens of thousands the Eos fleet charged down in the already insanely close jump that had been made, some ships had been lost in transit but they were in Eos hands now. Gravus roared as his fleet charged “We have them now children of light! Attack with everything you have! And let his hand guide your wrath!” his typical rhetoric echoed over the coms as the fleet fired everything they had into the Matterforges shields.
In Tasteel however High Exemplar Ulandi watched as the Nuclean fleet jumped to the edge of the interdiction zone and rushed forward opening fire, while still an hour away from combat, the shots would be easily dodged by the Eos fleet but the shipyards were on a predictable orbit and so the shots aimed for the shipyards… Would impact anyway. Ulandi knew the defences would stop a few but not enough. He sent the signal for his fleet to split, the 422 odd ships splitting down into two as one section moved to take the shots intended for the shipyards, the second moving away and up from the Nuclean forces coming straight for the shipyard, somewhat appearing like they were on course to leave the system.
The Matterforge returned fire towards the Great Eye, aiming everything it had at the Eye's hub ring. Meanwhile, it began to accelerate away from the attacking warships and the Eye, towards the edge of the interdiction field.
The Nuclean fleet slowed once they had gotten a small distance inside the interdiction field. They continued firing, using their massive energy projectors, large enough to gut smaller warships, to pinpoint fire at the shipyards and the ships in front of it, at the same time unleashing clouds of particle bolt fire towards it as well.
The Great Eye matched the Matterforges speed, entering a frontal defensive arrangement pointing itself at the large enemy battle station, absorbing the massive fire on its long arms, great chunks of the armoured super structure being breached or blown off as the attacks overloaded portions of the shields. Gravus watched as the Great Eye continued to pump out shots with its weapon systems, and continued to charge, massive energy spikes being registered inside its shell. Meanwhile he looked back to his own controls as the ship came in for another run, with the Matterforge concentrating on hammering the holy Great Eye the Eos fleet continued to strafe and hammer the large battlestation, untold numbers of shots and kinetic waves being unleashed as the tens of thousands of attack craft also bombed the shields in massive waves as the attack kept on, every time following the Matterforge as it attempted to get away.
Meanwhile in Tasteel High Exemplar Ulandi gave his forces the signal, the force protecting the shipyards moved out the way of the fire, having minutes to do so at such ranges the ships merely slid out the way and drove at speed towards the Nuclean fleet, meanwhile the High Exemplars own fleet which seemed to be heading up and out dived at a different angle towards the Nuclean fleet. All ships launching attack craft, the facilities in orbit also launched multiple attack craft waves, one large one again moving round to flank from a third angle against the Nuclean fleet.
Anokan:
Slyph stood on the Matterforge's bridge, contemplating their situation. Obviously running away was not going to be an option this time, and all because of the Great Eye. Right as he was thinking this, an idea hit him. He barked orders furiously, his idea forming into a plan.
The Matterforge fired its main engines, decelerating in its direction of travel, and soon began to accelerate towards the Great Eye. Collision alarms blared throughout the station, as more energy was directed from the guns to the engines and forward shielding. At the same time, the four six mile diameter physi-beam generators were focused on the Great Eye, to try to ensure that a collision would occur. These were joined by the other tens of millions of smaller physi-beam generators.
Tasteel:
With the warships out of the way the Nuclean warships fired furiously at the shipyards. Meanwhile, the outer defensive layer of warships directed their fire towards shooting the Eos ships that were approaching. Beams capable of gutting the largest of the Eos escorts lanced out, and were accompanied by massive amounts of particle bolt fire. Meanwhile the entire formation began to reverse direction, moving back towards the edge of the interdiction field.
The Great Eye strained as it fired its main engines in reverse, the High Exemplar expecting such a ram manuver tried to pull back, the great superstructure moaned and groaned as the physi beams kept their hold, pulling plates off left right and center. However it was no matter, the energy spike reached its peak and with a blinding flash the main weapon of the Great Eye opened fire. But this time no giant wave emanated from its hallowed form. Rather a blinding spear of light capable of slicing planets in half lanced towards the Matterforge in seconds. With the massive beam fired 300 of the Eos fleet raced close to the hull, engaging the Physi beam emplacements at super close ranges with their wave weapons, while another 150 charged into the hole made by the massive weapon blast. Firing with anything and everything they had the ships raced in, attacking the bare super structure with the wave weapons and attack craft, while the rest of the fleet started to pull back to defend the Great Eye. The Great Eye itself ceased its massive energy surge and again moaned as half of one of its great arms was bend and torn from its form floating off slightly as the tractor beam emplacements still continued, the Great Eye then continued to reverse at full thrust with the fleet continuing to hammer the tractor beam emplacements and the inside of the Matterforges remains.
The massive beam from the Eye slammed into the Matterforge, zeroing its shields and hitting the structure itself. Warning sirens went off all over the station as large amount of the front side was vaporized instantly, the area around it melting. Most of the crew and others onboard were killed instantly, including Junior Fleetmaster Slyph.
The crippled station began to drift along the path it had been travelling before towards where the Eye had been.
A wormhole began to open at the edge of the system, beyond the reach of the Eos interdictor field. Out of this wormhole slid the golden hull of an elegant vessel; the frontal section bears resemblance to a long, curved sword blade, followed by the shape of a six-pointed star attached behind it, trailed by the elegant shape of its seven long, curved engine tubes. The golden ship is almost two miles long, humming with power and glows with veins of bright blue energy, its seven engines trailing blue particles behind it as it moves forth. This is a Trinovan superweapon, its only ancient Grafter-class Battleship in Ancerious, the Light's Blade.
Beside the Grafter-class, 480 Nuclean warships came out of jump, with their shields raised and weapons hot. They scanned the system, taking in the layout, since they had lost contact with the Matterforge.
