In all surprise. It didn’t end with rapturous troops coming back in celebration, or some massive parade of victory.
It ended in silence, it ended with a whimper.
The 1st Ancerious war raged for almost 2 years, countless billions lost on all sides in the meat grinder battles that were fought during that era, when factions were struggling to develop efficient tactics to engage each other. Numerous worlds were burned, battles fought and skirmishes ended, great ancient weapons were employed and a game of cat and mouse across the temporal spectrum was played out by belligerents of both sides. Many battles either ending before they ever begun or victories simply ceasing to exist.
The end came when after the Allied forces assaulted Immortal Empire territory, and the Immortal Empire with help from the Flux Ascendancy teleported vast armies onto Tenebrae worlds. Endless bitter fighting took place in the Tenebrae territories, some worlds fended off the attacks slaughtering the sudden armies while others fell entirely, slowly to be retaken by the Tenebrae Collective, with help from the Union, IRS, USM, DHR and SSC forces. Some were altogether turned into bloody meat grinders, with neither side being able to get the upper hand. With so much infrastructure destroyed and lives lost, Tenebrae and allied wills to fight were at a low ebb.
Something the Immortal Empire and their Flux allies could have capitalised on, if they had not been in the same position.
The Allied invasion of IE space had also caused massive damage, with the Capitol assault on the IE having destroyed an entire solar system and numerous forces before Emperor Garren was killed and his attack reduced to nothing, the allies had taken this advantage to attack. Immortal Empire worlds were sieged, some destroyed, the Ambrosius system being a key example, the bloodiest battle of the 1st Ancerious war, over a thousand ships destroyed each side and countless millions of lives lost, with the system being destroyed after. Others managed to fend off the assault but again infrastructure was heavily damaged, while faring better than Tenebrae thanks to the Cerabian territories the Immortal Empire was waning.
As for the Flux, the use of the Great weapons and the continuous fighting of the SSC and Temporians had reduced the once mysterious great nation to ruin, countless silent bastions had fallen at huge cost, some even to the Timecaster Shaw. Hounded by their demon and the works of the Abberation as well the Flux sought to use scorched earth, by killing all the galaxies inhabitants they could start again. But to Dorins dismay, the order was too late, they simply did not have the manpower or resources to enact the plan. And with the mysterious weapon deployed by the Temporians known as the Mists, the Flux and all others who used temporal technology became unable to do so. The Flux merely withdrew what forces they had left, partitioning the IE to call a ceasefire, although they had no intention of surrendering a white peace and withdrawal by both sides may be the best solution.
The allies having also suffered heavily too looked for a ceasefire, they needed to regroup, rearm and ready themselves. The fact that multiple Uprisings were happening across the galaxy, and the rise of many other threats prompted the Union who had previously tried to negotiate an end to the war, to try again for the betterment of all involved.
There was no grand conference, no cheering at the wars end and no jubilation.
The end came to be on a small asteroid in neutral space. Representatives from both sides agreed to a ceasefire, and the unimpeded withdrawal of all forces from respective enemy space. No reparations, no ceded land, no annexation or victories. Just withdrawal, without any engagement. All sides mutually agreed, the allied forces who had suffered heavy attrition pulling out of Immortal Empire space, and the Immortal Empire armies which had been cut off from supply being evacuated by IE ships from Tenebrae worlds. The Flux merely disappeared, cloaking themselves in mystery although they still remaining in the galaxy, albeit a shadow of their former selves. The SSC on the other hand had merely no reason to now expand or explore, with the Flux threat gone and dealt with for now they isolated themselves. Cutting the strong ties to the allies and closing their borders, becoming what is now known as the Enclave they have been suspiciously silent ever since.
With the forces withdrawn, both the Immortal Empire and Tenebrae began to rebuild, with opposition to the Uprisings being drawn up, and Capitol now having rebuilt under a new leadership the galaxy was changing, and despite the lessons learned during the 1st Ancerious war, the grudges had not been settled and anger stirred in the hearts of many of the galaxies races.
All of which would be ignited once again.
It ended in silence, it ended with a whimper.
