Volkus sat at the head of the table surrounded by delegates and representatives of many empires. Each had interests in this newly discovered ship and they each wanted the treasures that lay inside, some of them he knew well, the Confederacy and the Ecclyseans as well as the Mars Empire. The rest he did not know but he was sure he would find out their intentions. He leaned forward and began to speak.
“Here lies a ship that nobody has claimed it and we need to decide how this will turn out. Open warfare is not an option, but first we need to get inside. My allies the Shadows inform me that this ancient ship is completely empty and that it is incredibly powerful and will need to be handled with great wisdom. How shall we go about getting into it? So far we have tried all methods apart from full on assault from out combined forces and by my ships calculations it should just be enough. After that I suggest each of our empires puts forward its most elite boarding team to contribute to the discovery, I hope you will all agree on this and I shall leave you all to debate this” he bowed and he got a few bows back. The room burst into conversation and the fate of a great power hung in the balance.
The Ecclesyan Arch Bishop stood up and raised his palm so everyone could hear, then the blind sage spoke, his long white beard and shimmering golden armor reflected the light, making him hard to look upon directly "Infid.... I mean... Gentlemen, debate and pep talk will lead us to nothing but a larger delay of time, the secrets inside that ship are invaluable and we must breach it now... I also hold some troubling information..." His guard passed a holographic clipboard to him, the Ecclesyans really advanced technologically since they began relations with other empires.
"You claim that the ship is empty... We beg to differ, for our scans have picked up anomalies unknown to all but us, for these things fight us for ages, and were never seen outside the Light zone..." more conversation erupted in the room "to other scanners their presence can be easily mistaken, for they emit absolutely no heat or air, neither can be picked up by movement sensors, they can only be seen... and for the safety of our people, these monsters must be stopped at all costs... and as fast as possible..."
"hmm Union sensors are very sophisticated are you sure?" Volkus said and the Shadow delegate looked and Volkus and replied.
"He is right, there are things on that ship and it will take all of us to defeat them, even my people are wary of them" Volkus shivered, to think that even a Shadow would think twice about fighting them... they must indeed be powerful and the treasures inside great.
The Arch bishop nodded "I assure, no sensors can detect these creatures, we know because Duvain gifted us with sight beyond... and yes, if THEY are here... there must have something of great power inside... also we must be wary of any possible surviving crew... even if i believe the chances to be slim due to the fact that the ship is now overrun with these Demons... they might have information of value..."
Volkus and the other Union members scowled when Duvain was mentioned and the Shadow interjected.
"My people have that sight too as natural to us" the snake like eerie voice announced
"Good to see not all are so small minded..." whispered one of the bodyguards to the other, who received an angry look from the Arch Bishop "Trust us when we say that it will not be easy to enter, and even less to leave, as i said, if THEY are here, it's because they found a way to wreak havoc upon the galaxy once more... It's too dangerous not to investigate, and if so, to destroy this potential threat..."
"we will enter the ship after we bring down the shields with or without you" said Volkus "if you wish to follow do so but do not even think about intimidating Union forces because it dosent work ad the outcome will be worse than you expect"
"This is all but a warning, but don't worry commander, once we are inside, they will take care of the intimidation... and before you throw your threats and the complete lack of interpretation of words on us, we warn you that we will not allow anyone to go inside without us... differently from others we value any living creature, even if not our own..." said the Arch Bishop with fire in his blind eyes, but a soft friendly smile on his face "It is not wise to fight kind words with fire commander... remember that" Said these words the tall man slowly sited back on his chair to meditate as the room erupted in conversation once again, ignoring all the noise, the elderly man had his eyes shut as he entered deep state of trance, leaving his guards to watch for him...
Volkus smiled and realised he was being rash, he nodded to himself and turned to his orderly "tell the men to ready themselves for the fight ahead, tell them we will have freindly support" the man saluted and walked off, Volkus turned to the Shadow "Will you be acompanying us?" he asked intriged, he was suddenly passed his awnser when 12 other Shadows phased into the room and everyone stopped and watched some with amazement others with terror, Volkus nodded and smiled.
"Power corrupts, my friends." The once silent Church said, his golden eyes meeting every leader at the meeting, "If these demons are indeed on the ship, and if it does hold great power why do we not simply destory it all? This ship has the chance to cause greater harm than it does good. We can send good men to inflitrate this ship, and risk losing them all as we try to reclaim it. Are the lives of these men now? And the lives of those who may be lost in wars of the future worth this fraction of power?"
"You are too quick to discard potential survivors Master Church..." Said Arch Bishop Alex the White "As gigantic and dangerous as this ship may be, it cannot possibly be fully automated, someone must drive it, there must be crew-members left, do they do not deserve a change too? also, I believe that even with your... lets say... 'sophisticated' weaponry would take months to bring that structure down... And if you fear for your men, worry not, once the shields are down I will personally guide them through the deep darkness of the Demon controlled, and fill them in about all we know, even if not much, about these dark creatures... I assure, they will come to no harm under Duvain's light..."
the Shadow looked at Church evily "the powers on this ship are TOO great to destroy, without them my people may never gain true acension and that is something we cannot tolerate!" the Shadow looked at Volkus "Even if it means breaking your orders" Volkus frowned but then untensed, he knew the Shadows only goal was acension and who was he to deny an entire race their destiny? "I agree we cannot destroy it besides many of you would agree with this"
Church made a mental note of the Shadow's response as it was far to simliar to an old foe to let it slip. "Well let us assume that these creatures are on this ship. How do we deal with them? I assume they need to breath much like many of us do? If so my empire could plant an A.I. capable of hacking in and suffocating them to death. After we clear all out all the surviors and get them to safety. Also a pair of eyes on the inside would help coordination instead of us watching from here. Furthermore, we may be able to save firepower if she is able to lower the shields, but that would most likely be a difficult task."
