Ural Memorial Station, Remnants of Ural: RSC Space
In the days following the loss of the system and the billions of souls that had lived within it, the Ural system had taken on something of a life of it's own again. A station had been constructed in memoriam of what once had been where the sun had been located, home to a small crew that maintained it as well as those passing through wishing to pay respects to those that'd been lost in the fires of the war. It was here that the fourth AGA meeting of the conflict was to be held by the RSC, to discuss the looming end of the Second Ancerious War, and the brewing storms in the east and beyond. Invitations were sent out to the AGA powers over the comms networks, and when that was done all that was left to do was prepare for their arrival.
The meeting room itself was plain and far from ostentatious, the long wooden, holoprojector equipped table lined with enough chairs for the delegates and their seconds whilst the flags of the various powers were arranged along the wall. One the other side were large and well shielded windows, looking out into space. With the system gone there was only the swirling, shimmering clouds of the nebula to see, casting patterns through the viewport every now and again. Only one guard was posted when Marshal Brelkov arrived, a singular rifleman in dress uniform who saluted smartly as his commander entered the room to take his seat. Organizing his files, Brelkov took a sip of tea and settled in to wait.
Conveniently enough for the Annointed they already had a ship present in the Ural system, the TSS Bedlam in Belgium the massive two hundred and seventy long kilometre warship pulling itself in close enough to be easily visible outside the stations large viewing windows the dreadnoughts grav drives working to ensure it maintained a safe distance from the station.
Rather than bothering with landing craft or any such time wasters Admiral Stracken “The Hyena” stepped directly into the meeting room from a small worm hole the location stolen telepathically from the minds of the already arrived restavians.
Tapping his medieval gauntlets against the table as he sat down the brown clothed man adjusted the enormous dead hyena he wore like a hooded cape to not interfere with he’s legs or the chair and sat in silence waiting for the event to commence.
It took so much time for the UWAs diplomatic ship to arrive at the Ural system. When it did, Representative Edra Stragonn was awoken from her power nap and was told by her assistant, Vitro
"My lady, we have arrived at the system. We wish to awaken you so you are made ready."
Edra rose from her bed and nodded to her assistant who immediately nodded back and went away from her chambers. She sighed as she faced the mirror and saw herself. Blue eyes, fair human skin and tattoos that had the style of mountains and seas. She then looked down on herself and saw that the rest of her body...was either still human or machine. She smiled, remembering the tragedy of it all. But she shook that away from herself and then started to prepare
At the same time, the escorts of the Representatives ship, the Ambriel and the Fulgencio de Castro, were frigates under the direction of Captain Javier Alvarado. At that point, he simply maintained silence as they waited for the AGA to give them further permission to go through as they were only here to observe the meeting.
When they got their permission, they quickly went on to stop at the station where the meeting would take place. Once attached, only four UWA Unionist Guards, who were armed with only Peacekeepers. They were also dressed in light armor and wore soft covers for their heads.
They escorted their Representative into the room and allowed her to sit as her Assistant stood behind her as her aide.
The Union delegation arrived quickly, several cruisers with attendant escorts translated at the edge of where the Ural system used to be, with only one of the cruisers going in system to drop the Union representative off. Beautiful, it seemed, and so similar to the nebula that now encompassed where Asuras used to lay. Sad that it was created in such horrible circumstances, otherwise such space bound engineering of artificial nebulas would be hailed as a break through, still sorrow coursed through Saffires heart.
Landing aboard the memorial station and being led to the meeting chambers the angelic form of Saffire, the Emperors Daughter strode into the room with only two aides to help note things down and relay them to HICOM. There were no guards, Saffire simply didnt need any. She found her alloted place, and sat down her blue and golden robes denoting both a flashy appearance, but clothes that were very practical. It was known the angels didnt like showing off just for the sake of it. She nodded and smiled to those present and awaited others to turn up.
The Unanimity were next to arrive, a Neyu battleship flanked by a pair of Ahnia frigates jolting into normalspace in the typical streaks of mustard yellow light and electromagnetic bangs that denoted Unanimity FTL. Simple automated requests for shuttle docking and the likes were made, and it wasn't long before one such shuttle left the Neyu's hull.
Sameh stepped off following her single bodyguard. Like before, his name of Valka was emblazoned on the armour's chest, but this time he wore the much heavier R3 suit of power armour. Evidently, Sameh had chosen not to take any chances. Her glowing yellow form was shaped into a mildly grander form of the AUN uniform, longcoat, high-rising collar and military boots that came halfway up her shins, though she did not wear the hat.
She maintained the same flat, half-lidded demeanour of mild disinterest she always had with her hands behind her back as she entered the meeting room, paying no detail or decor, not even the array of colours outside, any mind as she found her seat, notably further from the RSC representative than she had last time. Valka positioned himself behind her, his armoured hulk towering over her comparatively tiny frame.
The Dominion’s diplomatic group arrived with little announcing fanfare. A single frigate flanked by four corvettes flickered into existence and moved in formation to the established boundaries of the Ural system. The normal communications would be exchanged next, and if permitted the Frigate would proceed inward and dock to directly disembark the Dominion’s Two Representatives.
Consul Jahn, and Vice-Admiral Taravis made their way to the meeting room with nary a word spoken between. Inwardly, Taravis was hoping to firm up certain details at this meeting as it was a particularly good opportunity to make specific political agreements that extended beyond the now expired military alliance that had previously existed. Of course, if theatrics happened, and he hoped that was not the case, the political maneuvering might be a bust. His directives from the Chancellor and the Quorum were very clear. Once the two Dominion representatives arrived they would take their seats in whatever spot was indicated or just in an empty spot at the table if not. While Taravis used a data pad to prepare information for the meeting Consul Jahn, took note of the arrivals at the meeting; it was Jahn who was tasked with handling the political sparring that likely would take place.
An invitation by the AGA to attend one of their meetings was the last thing anyone in the UDS expected. However the olive branch was welcomed and looking to follow through with the original idea for the expedition was sub-director Louis Welkin. He boarded a diplomatic shuttle and left for the Ural system. It was only a small wormhole that materialised at the former systems edge but when it transitioned through Louis was surprised to see the concentration of warships present and wondered if it could turn into an active warzone. The shuttle landed into the stations landing bay and Louis stepped off alone, since he was just observing there was no need for any aides or anyone else. He followed directions to the meeting room where he took his seat and would closely watch the meeting.
No ship was sent from the Nucleans, which was rather odd, considering one of their capital ships was always present along with a delegate at the AGA meetings, with the exception of the last meeting that they had instead hosted.
However, to say that they had not sent a delegate to the meeting couldn't be further from the truth. A ways out from the station in the arrival area specified by the RSC, a single being simply appeared floating in space. It took a moment to cast its gaze about the 'system' that had once been Ural, and then teleported directly into the docking bay of the station, leaving and arriving in much the same sudden way that was common for the Ecumene's FTL system.
Emperor Menmuer, often referred to openly as Nuke by his close associates and non openly by others familiar with his origins, was dressed simply for the leader of a nation, only wearing a simple silvery cloak that shone as if containing a million diamonds woven into it, exhibiting the simple yet elegant style common among the Nuclean government members. He strode into the meeting room confidently, finding his place and taking a seat.
The RSS Hainan Forest arrived in the Ural system and unceremoniously docked after sending clearance to RSC traffic control. Autarch Ayzen strode to the meeting room with silent confidence, dressed in simple dark green military fatigues rather than the grander and more stately red overcoat he is often seen in. There were no soldiers nor any security escort; he needed neither and he wished to personally respect the tragedy surrounding Ural. He is accompanied by Chief Diplomat Karen, the liason diplomat to the AGA representing the IRS. Darok, the representative of the Dragons Nations Alliance (DNA), had met him en route and tagged along, catching up on various matters.
He entered the room together with Darok with only a few things on his mind; the current state of the 2nd Ancerious War as well as other geopolitical events that had happened and brought to his attention. Ancerious was a melting pot of chaos compared to his home universe where the IRS was an established power in its local region with little enemies and plenty of allies. Here it was the direct opposite, and that was exactly the reason why he had chosen to personally attend the meeting rather than leave it to the Civil Administrator. Sorting through his thoughts here and there, he and Darok greeted the other AGA powers - simple waving gestures of 'hello' to fellow members and quick handshakes with familiar faces, before taking their seats like the rest.
Similarly to the last meeting, the Annoliddan's only arriving ship was Inquisitor Kelrin's single shuttle. With little fanfare save the obligatory IFF confirmation and other credentials shared, she docked and made way into the meeting room. Notably missing were her twin swords from last meeting; Kelrin honored the request to come unarmed, and the ceremonial blades did little for combat use anyway.
Kelrin bowed upon entering, saying little beyond the usual greetings to her fellow delegates. Her eyes, however, seemed to pulse and shift as her gaze fell upon both Saffire and Menmuer. That the Union and Nucleans would send such important figures gave her confidence. After all, it must mean this talk was to be an important one, and Kelrin was glad to be a part of it.
The arrival of Carnaithians was a quiet one, not seen nor heard due to the use of a Prowler for transport. Communication links instead announced their arrival a few thousand kilometers from docking with the station, and promptly took its place at the construct. Some time later, Rictuld and an as-yet unseen individual made their way into the meeting room. Rictuld, in his usual High General's attire, found his seat and quietly made his position there. His companion, however - who stood at roughly nine feet, - stood behind the more known attendant. Veins of black, tarry stone and glass ran through his fur away from his face, the rest of his body hidden under a dark purple-grey cape and uniform. As they both turned to face the newest host of the occasion, the new individual ran his eyes across the rest of the guest's faces, revealing a dim golden tint in his iris if anyone to anyone who cared to notice.
A single Accordite destroyer makes its way to the station, having cleared themselves with the station controller. Little is said between its crew and the station as it approaches, the only man leaving the ship when it docks is the representative for this meeting. This location is an epitaph to those who no longer have a voice. It is hallowed grounds, and must be treated as such.
Sir Fleet Admiral Eltan makes his way to the meeting room, alone. At the doorway to the room, he surrenders his pistol, still in its holster, to the door guard to the meeting room, before proceeding to his seat. The man stays silent until it is time to speak.
The FRK representative, Yellan Tor arrived in her own vessel, one of the new ships that had recently left the shipyards of the Federal Republic of Karzan. It was a lithe and sharp vessel, fast and perfect for the galaxy at hand. Thanks to the Union, they were finally not only on their feet but a true nation. It was because of this that they had honoured the Unions request to join the meeting, as they had the last time.
Yellan arrived at the memorial with a solemn face, paying respects to those who had died here as she went aboard the station and took her seat, getting a nod from Saffire as she took her seat next to the angelic individual. She was quite in awe, the Union had actual angels leading them. She was glad they were apart of the Unions society.
---
The Eramon representative also turned up at the same time, Quillan strode into the hall with his diplomatic robes being neat and clean. He nodded to all assembled, having been late as he had paid his respects to the dead at one of the memorial shrines within the station itself. The Eramons had been one of the main empires to help with Crucible rebuilding efforts, Asuras, Ural and now reaching out to Saudra, they intended to help rebuild from such a weapons destructive influences. He too took a seat and was ready to go.
Now it was for the RSC to open the meeting, and address the first thing on the adgenda, the clear wrapping up of the 2nd Ancerious war.
Brelkov looked at those assembled, making a short headcount as he put his notes back in the folder that'd held them before clearing his throat.
"Welcome, comrades now and old." he said. His voice rang out through the room, projected through long years of addressing troops-- and helped a little by a subtle mic. "I thank you all for coming today. For the sake of brevity I will keep introductions short, I am Marshal Nikolai Brelkov and I will be officiating today."
He cleared his throat.
"I hereby open the fourth meeting of the Ancerious Galactic Alliance, and bring forth the first matter of the day. Though it took several years and many, many more lives than any of us could have anticipated, the war is at long last nearing an end. Military intelligence, rumblings and rumors from within our enemy and our troops in the field all seem to be saying the same things-- the war is almost over. With this is going to be several large and looming challenges, but I would bring our attention to one of the largest, this being the disposition and treatment of enemy leaders when the fighting ends. Namely the Empress Inara."
Quillan began to speak first "It is indeed an end to a rather ugly period in this galaxies history. With the collapse of Triarch military intelligence from all our nations suggests that Capitols economy has already collapsed and that they will be forced to surrender in 3 weeks at absolute maximum, likely well before then. The Eramons wish to see Empress Inara brought before a galactic warcrimes trial to decide her fate, alongside other notable Capitol leaders such as Illian Arakis and Eustes Niman." He sat down.
Saffire in turn nodded agreeing with the Eramon representative before she spoke too.
"We agree with the intelligence provided by Quillan this war is over, The Union too agrees to a proposed warcrimes trial and we also propose that AGA nations put forward a joint occupation force to oversee Capitols surrender, as for terms we adamantly seek for the removal of slavery, the prevention of building super weapons of any kind, the limiting of Capitols military forces and the opening up of their society from a militaristic survelance state. These are the terms of surrender we propose in regards to the war. For occupation the forces needed for such need to be ready at a moments notice"
"Indeed, not only has billions of lived been vanquished by her Crucible, many more have suffered tortorous lives as slaves. LINFOR's recent mission at Yinchorr has provided concrete evidence of this. I agree with the terms put forth so far and if Capitol refuses to free the slaves LINFOR will do it for them," Ayzen said, with a hint of confidence. "In the event Capitol does actually surrender, LINFOR can be the first of the occupational forces warping system to system to dismantle and disarm their forces since they are already in enemy territory."
"LINFORS efforts have been great so far, the Union is actually readying a force to aid your liberation efforts as we speak, they should be ready within a few days as most of the fleet is being repaired from Rubikon and the Crucible. I also urge any other nation here to begin liberation efforts of any worlds or slave holding facilities where you know of them. According to our few sources still in Capitol their fleet numbers now less than 1600 warships, this is a prime time to move in and liberate what we can" Saffire added.
Menmuer listened to the other delegates' words "The terms listed are good" he replied calmly, before subtly reaching behind his back and removing a white and blue ceramic teacup complete with hot tea and saucer, seemingly from nowhere, which was then set on the table in front of him. "And the Ecumene will be glad to contribute to the occupation force, to ensure the end of the war is as smooth as possible, and of course to begin liberating the Capitol slaves."
He then picked up the teacup, and took a quiet sip, before setting it back down on the saucer with the typical unobtrusive clink that one would expect, which would seemingly prove that this was very much not an illusion.

"Now now, not to rush things of course," Rictuld interjected while momentarily bringing a hand to chest level, "But it may be a good idea to consider what the repercussions of our actions in the coming months will be. The trials are a given, but might it be a good idea to allow the people of Capitol a leader they can look up to than potentially sparking a third war in the next few decades? That is an incredibly rude thing to say, I'd imagine, when attending a meeting on a station erected in the distinct purpose of memorializing a war crime enacted by those at hand, but I can at least speak for Carnaith when I say that decisions in the past are regrettable, and a power block such as the AGA may do well to ensure it is remembered positively in the history books. "
Stracken clears his throat, a strange gesture for a million ghosts possessing a swarm of nanites in a enviro sealed suit to make before he begins to speak.
“While my Carnaithian friend put it politely I have lived too long to bother with such things, it would be astonishingly stupid to put Inara to death or remove her from power in the opinion of the Empire, she is a beloved public figure and a leader that at least seems to care for her nation and her removal can only lead to immediate suffering for the occupation forces in the form of increased resistance and a everlasting spite fostered among Capitols population leading inevitably to future blood shed, a pointless action if we subscribe to the ideals of lasting peace and an avoidance of unnecessary bloodshed.”
He leans back into his chair deeper as he raises a hand and gestures idly to the Restavian representative.
“While I’m sure some here would love to see her hung I would ask that level headidness prevail and that one would looks past their own emotional investment and instead see the reason in our words.”
With his point made the Gestalt moves on.
“As to the occupation, we of course offer our help in any way needed, we would prefer to fill rolls suited to our rather unique skill set, telepathy works wonders on victims of trauma and is an amazing tool for suppressing resistance when needed, beyond this insurgency in our presence is made all the more harder when one cannot hide among the civilian population.”
His fingers begin to drum against his knees under the table as takes a second to listen to the mass of voices, feelings and concepts being pushed upon him by the fleets meta-concert.
“Throttling of Capitols millitary, the temporary occupation of its worlds, a ban on the construction of super weapons and a multi national personal guard to watch Inara are the only terms we agitate... and of course an end to slavery.”
"Though with your telepathic abilities wouldnt it be possible to...convince the Capitol people to accept a new leader? Inara, as progressive as she makes herself out to be, still embodies a line of aggressive, expansionist and militaristic leadership. We can watch her every move but we wouldnt know what she is thinking if she is still in power," Ayzen replied.
"I was of the understanding that such actions are considered 'immoral' by human norms. You would be forcing them what to think, and in a way, that's arguably worse than a surveillance state. Or was I mistaken in believing this alliance was built on maintaining morals and ethics where possible?" Sameh finally spoke up, her disinterested, flat synthetic tone ringing out. "And here I thought my people had a habit of ignoring such things."
Stracken turns his head and stares at the IRS representative for a few seconds his eyes narrowing slightly.
“If you think for a second the Empire would visit such... cruelties for that is what it would be, a cruelty, upon our honoured creators then you are mistaken, to pervert, pervade or alter ones at such a base level is an act of such evil I am shocked any in the room would suggest it, imagine for a second if I went into your head as we spoke and twisted the very core of your being against your leaders, against your state!”
By his tone it was very clear the Gestalt was annoyed, offended even.
"If you will pardon my interruption?" Jahn stated in a surprisingly polite tone. He waited for acknowledgement before continuing. "The issue really, is what is best for the galaxy in the long run. Capitol has been defeated and that means that its people who will suffer the ravages of economic inflation, unemployment and potentially starvation. This means that indeed there is a choice to be made; if the leader of Capitol is forced to abdicate her position, we have the issue of worrying who will replace her? If she is left in position, what is to say she will not go back to her old ways and start rebuilding to start another conflict ten or twenty years down the road? As some humans do say, some times the devil you know well is better than the devil you do not know at all." Jahn was finished making the point, the issue was simply that Capitol's people had only known existence with a strongman in charge and with that removed even worse depravity might occur. The obvious issue with replacing Capitol's leader was who would fill the void, an installed interim leadership would not necessarily be all that strong. If it was left to the people in Capitol, there was a risk that one of Inara's goons might evade trial make a new persona and rise to leadership undoing the gains made by sacrifice in the war. "It may be wise to think of Capitol as a Hydra and not as a snake, in that we may quickly find out that little is gained by unceremoniously lopping off its head."
"Then perhaps you would like to clarify what you meant by 'suppressing resistance'? At least to my understanding it implies subtly removing sentiments of dissent and intentions of conducting violent insurgency against our occupation forces," Ayzen calmly responded, slightly surprised by Stracken's anger at his words but still unfazed. "Following this intepretation of mine, it is only logical that I suggest such possibilities because it would meet the initial objective of removing Inara while at the same time, preventing the dissent that would come as a consequence of her removal entirely. Capitol's society is after all deeply entrenched in totalitarianism and militarism. Conventional humanitarian efforts and PR would either take several decades to see a complete socio cultural overhaul of their society or just fail. I am a practical man, born from a practical people. If it leads to a more peaceful transition where less of our and their people shed blood, Im all up for it."
Ayzen continued. "Though since you are adverse to using your abilities for such purposes I have no qualms in executing the more conventional methods. I respect your decision."
"I would imagine that the Capitol populace is already at least somewhat spiteful towards the AGA, and so even if we leave Inara in power, not only is there the issue of her rebuilding for later hostilities, but also of the citizens trying to overthrow her for being a turncoat."
Menmuer paused, before continuing "We are going to have to create an interim government to oversee the disarming process anyway and bring the other leaders to trial. Why not try Inara as well, and we can just govern Capitol until such time as they have finished economically rebuilding? We know that they are a surveillance state, and we can use that to our advantage to show them what's really going on instead of the propaganda they've been force fed, and that we're going to help them rebuild rather than just ravage their nation. Once they have economically stabilized, we can put a real government in place composed of new leaders that won't try to pursue the old policies, and Capitol can begin slowly paying for the damage they have caused in a manner that won't just destroy their economy again."
“You’re point is flawed because your interpretation is wrong.”
Stracken responds curtly.
“Make not assumptions about things you do not understand, asking would have been much more productive.”
With a steadying breath the Gestalt begins his explanation.
“Suppression is a word that implies a certain non permeancy we would not be editing anything about their hat or spite for who are we to tell others what they may think and fell in their own head? No it would be a basic telepathic block that simply stops them from engaging in acts of violence, nothing so draconian as fundamental change.”
He was still of course annoyed, even with the explanation given it still meant the representative had been suggesting an incredibly amoral course.
“Beyond all that there is no need to change Capitols culture ourselves, Inara will be watched she will be made to use her own institutions to adapt her society for the better from within rather than us from without.”
"So be it," Ayzen crossed his arms. He had decided not to challenge Stracken, the being judged by him as an emotionally driven entity who would not understand his pragmatic mindset. If it values lives and morals even in a war, so be it. There was no value in derailing the conversation any further. "For now, I am fine with either removing Inara completely or enacting strict surveillance of her activities. I leave it to you all to settle the final occupation plan. All the IRS truly wants is the freedom of its captured peoples."
"An apt sense of care to end a misplaced judgement of your own words," The booming voice of the figure behind Rictuld responded, only subtly non-monotone. "Those slaved to distant, unfamiliar suns will be set free in one way or another with the end of this conflict, though I do not see how the leadership of Capitol effects them. To indulge your statement, however," He continued, smiling an unnatural and jagged line, his lips creasing and turning at places where no muscle or bone should exist to keep them restrained, "Are you certain that she is the worst chief they might have? Her appearance certainly deflects the fact of what personality she must have to have become the leader of a nation such as hers, but autocracies always have leftovers and Capitol has operated far more efficiently in the past months than would be implied by mass murder of the maniacal supporters the previous figurehead must have had. Those of us on our side of the war may speculate, but we do not know, and that would put us - and your imprisoned people - at a distinct disadvantage in future planning if we install a different Celefran or otherwise. I stand with the idea of keeping her in power," he finished with a grin.
Rictuld, however, had moved his hand down to the table and now looked to Brelkov and the Union representatives intently, though he made note of what expressions were made in response to his compatriot by the rest of those around. "Being the members of the Host nation," He tipped his head towards the Marshall, "And the founding state of the AGA," And again to Saffire, "It may be for the best if your nations' stances on the topic of post-war governmental power in capitol are made."
Saffire nodded "The Union both does and does not support the execution of Inara and other Capitol leaders at the end of the war. On the one hand, better the devil you know than the next madman that would grab power in a bloody display, while Inara is a monster she is not stupid and as such may even work with us to acomplish our goals as long as she sees a light at the end of the tunnel, this may be the best sitution suited to our goals, however... Inara is the perpetrator for this war, and billions of citizens from all our nations are calling out for retribution, to just let such a women walk free without personal reprisal would be seen as a betrayal of justice by our purpose and as such may cause problems across the homefront. And there is also an angle we have not yet considered, Inara brought Capitol into this war and has also lost it, destroyed Capitols economy and raised their military to the ground. She may be a progressive and have helped them a great deal by their standards, but that does not mean the Capitol populance will follow her anymore, it would not surprise me if they would also call out for her head on a pike by the end of the war. Thats if she is not overthrown first of course"
She then continued "We also do not support the use of psionic or mental manipulation to be used upon the people of Capitol. That is against our principles"
“To clarify my wolf, do you find umbrage with all suggested psionic interference bought up today or only the IRS’s over the top suggestion of persona editing?”
Stracken asks aloud seeking clarification.
Brelkov nodded briefly, gathering his thoughts. Rictuld had asked and so he would answer, but...
"The RSC is divided as the Union is to be truthful, comrade." he stated. There was really no other way to put it. He began counting on his fingers, as though by bullet points.
"There are those that call for her execution, given our losses in the war and the loss of those that resided here, in the very system we now hold council in. I cannot say that I blame them for this, as we have suffered heavily in this conflict. No doubt as they have, but all the same to tell grieving soldiers and families that the enemy has suffered as they is not really a good thing to be saying. Not when we have hated Capitol as we have. "
A pause.
"Then, there are those that advocate that she be imprisoned for her crimes. No doubt that she has committed horrible acts in her time as the Empress, not least among which is acting as an instigator of this war! What would become of Capitol should she be imprisoned I cannot say, but this solution I personally do not agree with. It seems a half measure to me, and I believe that should she be locked up who knows what might come to free her in order to... I do not know, carry on the Great State."
"Finally... there are those that believe that she ought to remain in power. As a figurehead perhaps, but nevertheless at the head of their nation. From what we understand the people have loved her as she built their nation up from nothing. Again however, as Saffire has said she has also destroyed it. Perhaps she would be able to hold Capitol together and perhaps not, but if her successor is incapable or maniacal then the Gods only know what happens next."
He sighed, closing his hands.
"In my personal opinion, a trial to determine her fate is fair and equal. It would bring the best of all three opinions forward, and while there are those that will not be satisfied with whatever result happens so is the way of life."
"The persona editing of course, changing someone elses self is against our very rules" Saffire replied.
Saffire then continued "As the exact nature of the punishment for the leaders for the APP is yet to be determined all of those here have at least agreed that a trial be undertaken, which shall be overseen by a member of all of our factions to present cases, evidence and a verdict then we can at least be sure that such a trial is agreed on and should be our move as well as joint occupation after the war. Such occupation forces can also then once dealt with Capitol deal with any other APP nations such as the Seperatist Union and Shadowblade."
"If we all agree on such, perhaps we should move on to the next point of call? The reason why our honoured guests are after all"
Welkin paid careful attention to the goings on of the meeting, how they spoke to each other the idea’s they threw around. What he enjoyed most from everyone was their ability to delegate responsibility to the Capitol leaders and not punish the population has a whole. When the Union representative made reference to him he was quick to reply.
“Ladies and Gentlemen of the AGA I’m Louis Welkin from the Union of Democratic States, firstly I’d like to thank you for inviting us out here today although I wish it was under better terms. I understand that you have an interest in our current conflict with the Dectrose. As I’m sure you all know they attacked a member state of the Union in an attempt to kidnap an admiral which has no long term or short term gains for the Dectrose in the foreseeable future. The prime reason we’ve deduced mainly from witnesses at the conference we held with them and the UWA is that one of the Dectrose Admirals was in a relationship with the victim, hence the kidnapping.” He stopped for a second to clear his throat
“Now I’m sure the UWA representative has the rest of the details on that, anyways moving from the why and onto the real business. So far no moves have been made against any of the nations that have joined the war but the Union Navy and Army is setting up shop in UWA held Auraxii space as a forward staging area to bait the Dectrose out of their territory. As it stands currently we have insufficient ships to mount any lasting large scale invasions into their territory and we’re still looking at the diplomatic option as well. The union in its entirety as well is bunkering down for now waiting to assemble the needed forces or to wear down the Dectrose fleets.”
Stracken had only heard of the incident peripherally, tiny nations in the middle of the most unimportant corners of the galaxy flinging shit at each other was not something that overly concerned the aged gestalt, but here it was directly in front of him so he forced himself to care.
“He attempted to kidnap someone he was in a relationship with?”
He ventures slowly.
“For what purpose? Why not simply ask her to come? Beyond that how did a kidnaping escalate to war? Excuse my ignorance but the two incidents seem miles apart in their severity.”
“Let me take this ugly bag of snakes and lay it out straight for you. Firstly the UWA admiral in question Armasticia announced that she was going to defect but instead took a good deal with the black rabbit security company in the Vestahl Commonwealth who got her off of some serious charges in her court martial. However she was still done in for one or two of them and given a memory wipe so she couldn’t spill state secrets, they had a malfunction however and caused massive brain damage to the poor girl, from there she was handed over to her next of kin and waited for Black rabbit to pick the both of them up and take them to Commonwealth space.” He stopped to take a breath
“This is where Dectrose Admiral Marghereti kidnapped her as he was still on planet from the conference. Unbeknownst to everyone the Dectrose snuck a stealth ship in system to extract them however their surface to space transport came under heavy fire and the Dectrose called in eleven warships one of which was a hundred kilometre long battleship called ‘The Pride of Decoroso’ and threatened to attack the system if they weren’t allowed to carry out their crime. This is when the Union Fifth fleet entered the system and shot their ships down however they made good on their threat and bombarded Ultrasina killing millions. It was a case of damned if you do damned if you don’t so we pulled the trigger first to defend the UWA from this threat.”

Sameh, at the explanation, couldn't help but huff, the vague ghost of a smile cracking onto her hardlight lips.
"The Dectrose kidnapping people for their own ends again? Surely they should have learnt from the last time they tried that that it doesn't work out too well for them. Evidently, Kaikoma wasn't enough for them."
She righted herself in her seat a little, the smile fading again.
"In all due honesty, I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark and assume you're telling us this hoping for AGA support. I can't speak for the rest of the members here, but the Unanimity would be ready and willing to lend its support to any action taken against the Dectrose. They have done nothing but backstab, insult and kick others in the teeth, though I haven't heard of them bombing cities before. We would think it time to do it back to them."
Stracken nods slowly at the mans explanation, he had no reason to disbelieve him and based on past actions the Dectrose had undertaken he would believe it.
“I think you’ll find Mr. Welkin the pride would have been one hundred and twenty kilometres long, could I ask what became of it, the Annointed empire would also be willing to enter this war if only to ensure it is over as quickly and cleanly as possible.”
He looks over to Sameh as he continues to speak.
“I would also hope that what ever war plan you have made Mr Welkin is open to changes suggested by the AGA states? I would like this war to be as bloodless and swift as reasonably possible.”
Brelkov grinned. It was a small grin, but one that was rather predatory as he looked to the UDS representative. His voice became hard, and his eyes steely.
"You have fortuitous timing, comrade. As it so happens, not long ago the Vesthal Commonwealth came to the RSC seeking aid against the Dectrose from us. In light of the Dectrose's actions against our allies and against the RSC itself, we have elected to declare war upon them. As we even speak, Restevian forces and ships are preparing to launch a major offensive into Dectrose space."
His expression became serious again, but the hardness to his voice did not fade.
"As such, I would request that other AGA states present give thought to joining this assault. While I agree with Comrade Stracken as well that a swift and clean end to the war would be preferable... I am not sure it is doable. Nothing is ever clean-cut nor is it bloodless with the Dectrose."(edited)
Eltan nods to himself as Brelkov speaks, picking up only a momentary pause from the RSC Marshall. "I would like to announce on behalf of the Kingdom of the Accord that, should any nation waging war on the Dectrose Empire require a safe port for repairs and supplies, that the Accord is willing to provide it for the duration of this campaign and war, at no cost to yourself. We are also permitting the use of two of our military systems, Khrysm and Ialliu, for the purpose of forward operating bases for coalition forces. I hope that such services will be of aid to your forces in the coming war."
Yellan seemed to smile "It seems like many have chosen, I for one support any such action against the Dectrose. While I am indeed a vassal of the Union of Worlds the FRK sees the Dectrose as APP in all but name, their blatant disregard for already established treaties and ultimatums and their continued efforts to destabilise the region warrant intervention. The FRK will support and contribute to actions against such. We will also be sending forces to help with the liberation of Capitol elements as well" The FRK representative looked proud to give such an outlook. Saffire seemed to soften her face and agreed.
"While it amuses me that an ex APP member now sits here and offers AGA support, it shows how far the galaxy has come and how much of a new age is before us. Firstly I offer thanks to you Eltan, such an offer will likely be instrumental in the coming weeks. While I do not condone wanton violence I would like to indulge you all in my advocation towards military intervention against the Dectrose. As Yellan here rightfully said they are APP in all but name. With actions such as those at Ural and against the Artificia it shows they do not care for other nations sovereignty, let alone their actions against the UWA here who I have read the reports from. However it is their wish to have peace with the AGA after Ural and their agreement to not aid the APP which they so uncaringly broke in plain sight that shows their true colours.” She paused.
“Harbouring the Z1 and refitting it is a slap in the face to diplomacy between them and the AGA despite our attempts at negotiation, as well their then reply to the ultimatum was not to give up the Z1 but to merely let it walk free, holding their hands up and pretending they are in the right. With their now actions here threatening sovereign nations over what? An admiral’s love affair? It shows that they are not to be allowed their casual destabilising reach, couple that with their wish to work alongside Capitol forces in Auraxii space they may as well be APP members, I believe the AGA should deal with them as such."
She let her glow increase somewhat as her emotion flowed through her, the Dectrose actions had angered her.
"I therefor ask the AGA to make this an official AGA joint action against the Dectrose, supporting the UDS, UWA and the Askandar Pact. In this regard we shall restore stability. However" She turned to the Inquisition representative "We know they have their Free Defence Council, which our colleague here is a part of. While to me little more than a buffer put together to give the Dectrose more clout and deter invasion by especially us after the incidents between the AGA and themselves we have no qualms with them. I do not know if you will support the Dectrose” Saffire spoke to Kelrin “But I implore you to withdraw any support for them you may have, and I wish to ask your help in relaying to the rest of the FDC that our fight not be with them, and that the AGA will be willing to initiate trade and other close relation programs with those not willing to support the Dectrose. They alone have earned retribution, not those who they have attempted to cloak themselves in. I also agree with Stracken, regardless this war must be quick and as bloodless as possible.”
It was an interesting point of note that the new laundry list of Dectrose infractions was as impressive as the old. The Dominion knew that the Dectrose were not to be trusted but the verification that the news of their recent shenanigans in other parts of the galaxy only served to prove that the Quorum’s decision when the Vestahl asked the Dominion for assistance was a valid choice. The Chancellor and the Quorum debated the issue of waging war against the Dectrose for less than twenty minutes before coming to a near unanimous decision to declare war. It might have been different had the Dectrose simply minded their own business and stayed in the east but events simply did not ravel in that way. Vice-Admiral Taravis took note of the support for a war against the Dectrose and the specific scope of said conflict. The idea being circulated that the war would by any measure be quick or bloodless was the one point he personally found to be off-putting. “I will say as a matter of disclosure, that the Dominion by request of the Vestahl is already in a declared state of war against the Dectrose. This is more a result of their past actions in the west and their open hostility towards western nations. The recent events that have occurred regarding the TDA and UWA serve as definite proof that a military action is required to curb the military aggression of the Dectrose. However, when it becomes obvious that the Dectrose are fighting potentially a dozen or more nations, they will effectively be a cornered and scared animal and that will make them dangerous. The Dominion has had a invasion strategy on the books for a while to deal with the Dectrose problem, it was drawn up near the end of the WRL and may prove a means to bring about a accelerated end to the Dectrose conflict.”
Kelrin took her chance to respond to Saffire. "I thank you for your concern of the Free Defense Council in this matter, Saffire. Following this meeting, the Council will convene to vote on the Dectrose's membership, which I firmly believe will be unanimously to remove them." She then regarded the rest of the room. "As for the Inquisition, we will remain neutral during this conflict, if-and-when it comes. While we wholeheartedly do not condone the Dectrose and their actions, they have been nothing short of dedicated allies to us since their arrival here, and such we cannot justify launching our forces against them."
"That being said," Kelrin continued, "The High Command of Dectrose has entrusted the Inquisition with the following information: they have created a Terms of Surrender for their portion that resides here in the Ancerious Galaxy. However, these terms are vastly different than those presented by the Vestahl Commonwealth previously, and even the Inquisition questions its viability. Still, it shows that they are willing to have this end diplomatically without any bloodshed. We should jump at this opportunity, as it will both remove the Dectrose as a future threat to our operations and our nations, and end this war before it even begins. I propose we hold a summit - I offer Annoliddan-controlled space as the neutral meeting ground - so that we may agree on a set terms of surrender. Also, so long as all present parties consent, we can supply our telepathic abilities to allow the discussion to reach consensus much more swiftly and without incident."
Kelrin produced a small data tablet. "I can supply a copy of their Terms of Surrender for review prior, if any wish to do so."
Stracken eyes dance over the document slowly as he takes it in laughing audibly as he makes note the annexation offer.
“The Annointed empire of course accepts the terms of annexation but would wish to see harsher consequences bought upon the military elements of the Dectrose fleets.”
He gestures off handily to the document as he leans back into his chair.
“Of course during annexation the empire can easily help enforce other terms bought to us by the aggrieved states, reparations, extraditions actions regarding super weapons and their military, unless of course the council doubts our ability?”
"Such is the reason a summit would be ideal. Enforcement, that is." Kelrin responded. "The full terms can be given a thorough makeover and a suitable solution can be made to satisfy all parties involved, save the Dectrose to an extent."
"Its a commendable effort to initiate the diplomatic options first yes, but I do have concerns that they might use the summit to prepare their forces in secret before the Annointed can fully carry out their annexation in earnest. It is very possible that they might warp in stealthed fleets into the capitals of the UDS and the AGA nations as they have in Ultrasina to turn the tables on us while we focus on the summit. If we are to go through with the idea of a peace summit, we should have sizable forces on standby for home defence in our respective territories while still pooling a large combined AGA-UDS fleet just outside the Dectrose space to put military pressure on them. That way, a single attempt to attack our worlds can still be repulsed and the Dectrose will be answered with a large retaliatory strike," Ayzen suggested.
“I second the Autarchs idea, we must remember that the Dectrose for all their doings are still at the end of the day intelligent enemies who are well versed in more subterfous tactics, no peace conference should’ve attended by large fleets for some display of power or hubristic show.”
Morally he may be lacking mused stracken but none could deny the autarchs foresight.
“I like where Admiral Stracken is going with this, with their citizenry under control we can leverage effective control over the remaining Dectrose assets and personnel and force them into complete capitulation. The Director and the President will get behind it with a few honeyed words.” Welkin chuckled
Saffire chuckled as she saw the terms that the Dectrose wanted for surrender. Of course they would try to wriggle out of responsibility once again. Exactly like all the times before that.
"I agree that is an excellent descision on the FDCs part, I hope that even in time the AGA and the FDC can have prosperous relations and that all involved would wish for such. I also understand your neutral stance on the matter of intervention, and I believe nothing should be held against the Inquisition for such. However... These terms are laughable" She shook her head.
"The Dectrose are masters of slipping out of responsibility for their actions. We ourselves negotiated terms of peace with them only for them to blatantly throw it back in our face, and they have been known to do the same elsewhere. With these terms they more or less get off scot free, their military is barely affected, their super weapons leave the galaxy only to be ready to enter back at a later date, and the wormhole stays open? For what? To allow them to simple to waltz in again when they are ready and take back their space, replete with all their people and infrastructure intact and their military only changed under definition? I am sorry, but I and the Union do not accept or support these terms at all. And I do not see negotiations even with threats levered over the table working for more than a year or so even with precautions. As I stated they are APP in all but name, and they should not get off leniantly for their actions. If they are a destabilising agent their ability to do so must be stemmed" She closed her eyes for a moment. She never liked advocating violence, but she had an idea to keep bloodshed, especially civilian to an absolute minimum.
"I therefor propose a joint strike on them, we bring them to the negotiating table and tell them the terms, which they can negotiate where able within room we allow them. We also strike all their military targets, ensure their military cannot respond or be in a position to oppose the terms or try to slink away to allow them to act again against us all later. Also I propose their wormhole be closed period, and their super weapons including the Oracle be destroyed. However civilians will not be harmed in any way, and worlds shall not be occupied unless negotiations break down and fail, and its forced to be the case"
"I apologise for advocating conflict, but in the case of the Dectrose and their repeated innate ability to ignore their situation and manipulate it seems like the only way. This way we keep bloodshed to an absolute minimum, and allow for our terms and more to be imposed without issue"
Sameh huffed. "To be honest, these terms are an insult in every regard. Their military is barely scratched, and they lose virtually nothing, not to mention the absolute lack of reparations to anyone they have wronged." she leaned back, arms crossed, amused that anyone thought they would go through.
"I can say now, even if I agreed to them, I doubt the other higher-ups of the Unanimity would. As such, I am in no particular inclination to either. Like Saffire, I reject them. We have our own terms, do we not? Those are the only ones my kind are particularly interested in. Makes them suffer for the things they've done, rather than just an inconvenience. Besides, their admiralty has proven to be unreliable and fractured. While they might agree to any terms we propose, it doesn't mean one of them isn't plotting some devastating weapon behind everyone's backs. I'd rather not take that chance, by force if necessary."
Ural Memorial Station, Remnants of Ural: RSC Space
"Sameh also makes an excellent point, their admiralty has shown to be near incapable of unified action. Whats to say that the terms are imposed and one of them walks off with the majority of their military? I say that both diplomatic and military action are needed in this resolution" Saffire reinforced Sameh, nodding in agreement to the AU representative.
"I am wholly in agreement that these terms are entirely unacceptable." Brelkov sighed, looking over the document with an expression that was equal parts amusement, disbelief and shock.
"Were this any other enemy handing these terms to us I would think them totally insane for having such a soft hand, and here to us this is degrading."
He rubbed his face as he looked over the 'terms' for a third time.
"Firstly, in my opinion the 'reorganizing' of fleets as the Dectrose claim to wish to do is the most thinly veiled excuse for 'putting a new name on an old box' that I have ever seen. A defensive fleet is structured differently, sometimes requires different sorts of ships. Either the Dectrose are far more military inept than Tchaikovsky, myself and the rest of high command even began to think upon first assessment or they are attempting to shit and piss upon us without the courtesy of calling it rain."
He cleared his throat.
"A thousand pardons for the vulgarity. Second is the superweapons, I will not accept anything less than their being turned over to the AGA for dismantlement or their outright destruction. Returning them to the Dectrose's home galaxy is again an insult to the intelligence of the AGA, as we all here know the power of superweapons laying in wait to strike."
He paused.
"In short, I am in full agreement with both the Union and the AU. Strike the Dectrose head on and strike them deeply, eliminate their military capacity to retaliate or launch offensives in one blow if possible and force terms more equal to the situation. But do not harm their civilians if they can, as much as I dislike the Dectrose as a whole their people are not their leaders here."
Welkin slumped in his seat before sitting straight back up meeting his gaze with Saffire
“Alright that plan sounds like it has a much better chance of success with a proverbial gun pointed at their heads. I don’t like but you can still count on full UDS support for the operation.” He said so with less enthusiasm now that there was a high chance of millions of men and women never getting to see home again.
Kelrin heard the retorts around the room, and nodded in agreement with each of them. "I am pleased we may have a chance to end this with minimal confrontation. Despite being allies, the Inquisition wholeheartedly agrees the Dectrose military must be removed in its entirety. If it is agreed upon for military confrontation, so be it."
"However," She lowered her head, knowing the next request was a loaded one. "The edicts of the Inquisition dictate that I must ask the wormhole to their home galaxy not be completely closed or destroyed, only sealed off or otherwise for all intents and purposes shut. To completely remove it would mean the remaining civilian block in current Dectrose space will be cut off from their homeland, and vice versa for any would-be explorer or even potentially another sentient race from using it to reach here. I understand there is the threat of retaliation through the wormhole from their home galaxy as well, and in this event, the Inquisition will wholeheartedly accept responsibility of any conflicts that arise from it."
Saffire relaxed, knowing that the others supported the move reassured her, she didnt like it either. It meant conflict and death but it was sadly the only way.
"I too dislike it, but the chance of being nice backfiring is too great. And I thank even Kelrin in agreeing to this, perhaps the wormhole can be sealed off and relegated with a joint watch force, allowing civilians only to pass over and across depending on their situation. And if the Dectrose do try to fight back through, we can quickly mobilise and be ready for them. However what do the other delegates think?"
Yellan put his hand up as if to agree "The FRK supports the Union and will send forces when the time comes"
Quillian bowed his head "While we wholeheartedly agree with the plan our own military is being used to aid in the liberation of Capitol, and will be primarily used for occupation. We have had to rebuild after Rubikon and Mirach but we will supply material aid where needed" The Eramon rep spoke softly and honourably.
Menmuer had been listening quietly to the other representatives while they discussed the terms the Dectrose had provided to the Inquisition. After having read the reports on the Dectrose, and now seeing their proposed terms, he silently laughed at how lightly they were trying to get off.
He considered now the proposal given by Saffire and words of the other representatives for a moment, and then spoke "As has been repeated here multiple times, their given terms of surrender are unacceptable, and so I won't hammer on that further. I find the proposition of a joint strike on them to be a good one, and find the terms given by the Union are more than acceptable. Regarding the Inquisition's objection to the wormhole being totally closed however, we would be willing to construct or modify an existing ring that could alter the size and orientation of the Ancerious end, so that traffic could be carefully controlled through it without having to actually close it."
“Those terms specifically as written are wholly unacceptable. They are literally as others have stated an attempt to escape culpability for past transgressions. I agree that swift military action is needed to force the Dectrose into a position where they will beg to negotiate.” Vice-Admiral Taravis stated in an even tone, he then used a data device to project a holographic three-dimensional representation of Dectrose territory. “However what terms we apply should be very strict; the proposal to lock down their wormhole is acceptable as it will prevent attempts at further aggression and reinforcement. It may be wise to incorporate intelligence gathering into the operation to verify that all Dectrose assets are accounted for. It would play out poorly in the media if this alliance of nations failed to make sure there were no additional assets that could pose an actual or political problem after the mainstay of their nation unconditionally surrendered.” The vice admiral allowed a moment for the last part to sink in and then reinforced his main point. “Yes, I do suggest the nations present lead with an offer of Unconditional Surrender for the Dectrsoe, obviously we intend to negotiate but leading with the impression that the Dectrose have little room to negotiate will serve partly to demoralize whatever defense they muster and will make whatever terms come after seem like a reprieve when they really are not.”
Stracken sighs heavily as he rises out of his chair clearing his throat to gain the rooms attention.
“Men and women of the AGA and invited third parties I feel as if a very key part of my point has been missed in that while these terms are entirely unacceptable and understandably leave many parties unsatisfied with the results I would like to point out that I never suggested actually accepting them.”
Stracken places great stress on his words feeing the need to make it painfully clear what he was saying.
“BUT that we should appear to go along with these terms long enough to at the very least occupy his planets before any other actions are taken, for what possible gain strategically or morally can we advocate storming into fifty systems and sending hundreds of thousands to their deaths when a peaceful option sits before us begging to be taken? How do we justify ourselves to the mothers and fathers of those we send to die for our paranoia!”
He turns to the UDS representative as he continues to speak.
“At the days end was it not your member state attacked? Is it not your war? People worry for the Dectroses ability to wage war post occupation, what ability? No shipyards, no munitions factory’s, no recruits, no safe port! What ability to wage war! Without a massive industrial base to support it the Dectrose navy simply cannot exist! With their fangs removed and their worlds occupied could they refuse any of our demands! Would it matter if they did! Of course it wouldn’t! You want reparations you will have it! A few worlds a few systems? Yours easily for how could one resist such an event? Their navy starved to death can just as easily be dismantled post war without a single shot being fired, not a single soldier dead and your demands achieved, if the Oracle is our point of contention then simply ask the Inquisition to better handle it, I’m sure if it meant avoiding wanton death than my telepathic compatriots would be more than willing to do anything to the oracle you requested.”
Stracken was clearly emotionally invested in avoiding war, any that knew of the Annointeds opinions on humanity would be able to guess why fairly easily, as he finishes his point he turns back to the room in general.(edited)
You worry about their fractured admiralty? What fractured admiralty! Half of their leadership is missing in the wake of Kaikoma, those that are left are mostly made up of people we have personally met!”
He switches from verbal oration to telepathic communication for his conclusion.
”And any that have met us know that once we have met you there are few secrets on your morals, your opinions or your convictions that you can hide from us and believe me we have looked”
Switching back to verbal he continues his speech.
“There is no reason absolutely none to not at least maintain the appearance of going along with these terms is there?”
Next he turns to Safire.
“And you think that levered threats and occupation would only work for a year? On what grounds! You site their past weaselling and perfidious tactics but with the sword of Damocles hanging above their heads what can they do? If we maintain our occupation out past a year what can they do? Attack through the wormhole? If they start invading through it it would be a simple matter post occupation to simply switch it off, a weasel without teeth or legs is not in much position to weasel at all!”
Saffire put up a mental block as soon as Stracken touched upon her mind, the audacity to claim they knew everyones opinions, secrets and convictions even if to make a point was insulting. And to simply throw away the entire face of the AGA by lying about a surrender was laughable, while she knew saving lives was paramount, sometimes conflict was simply unavoidable.
"Do not presume to know my mind, you know little about me and I would suggest you do not try. I would also suggest not to make such sweeping insulting statements in the future no matter how emotional you may be over this" She frowned clearly angry.
"And show that any surrender or negotiation with the AGA as a whole means absolutely nothing? Accepting surrender of the Dectrose, and then going back on everything they agreed to to suddenly impose far harsher terms throws away our entire credibility. Who would negotiate then? The AGA would have no anchor, and we would be no better than the Dectrose throwing away peace with the AGA over the Z1. You also completely neglect that a fleet even without its own nation readily available is an asset that will cause untold problems. As demonstrated, ironically, by the Dectrose allowing EPA to re-arm and refuel in their territory. There is no reason why the Dectrose would not do the same elsewhere and continue to be a thorn in our side, this isn’t for paranoias sake” She paused.
“Paranoia is expecting events when there is no evidence to back them up apart from similar past experiences. This is expecting and extrapolating events that will happen simply based on the Dectrose actions in this galaxy and their continued actions that had led up to this.” She disagreed with Stracken, while she wanted to support the measure of no conflict, the actions of the Dectrose had been too much. The Union had founded the AGA to ensure the peace, even if it meant intervening with conflict to stop a greater instability. The Davian situation had shown the AGA in a bad light, dealing with the Dectrose and the Andrackan as well as ending 2AW would change that.
“And that Stracken is exactly why we destroy their military. They cannot act against us in any way, why throw away the entire galactic face of a power bloc just to ensure that their military does not loose lives and potentially does escape when we can ensure otherwise? I have already stated that the attack would be done in such a manner as to keep any civilian casualties non existent or at least to a bare regrettable minimum, and its very nature means we would loose little to no forces of our own as we will not be holding ground. That way we enforce the terms we wish without throwing away the AGAs entire reputation, and we declaw the Dectrose at the same time. If you claim to know me, then you will know I do not believe in conflict lightly. But in this instance I sadly support it”
Stracken snorts laughing a little.
“I didn’t touch your mind wolf, my implication was in our dealings with the Dectrose we made sure that those we spoke with were being honest and open with us.”
Strackens voice relaxes as he forces himself to divest emotionally from the situation.
“And beyond that what credibility? The credibility of dropping a team of Prizraks covertly onto a neutral world for... reasons? Or perhaps the credibility that comes from advocating the deaths of thousands that don’t deserve it because you think somehow people will think better of us if we murder innocent naval men for the sins of their government when a bloodless alternative presents itself?”
"That isnt even a comparison of the scale we are talking. At least if we intervene militarily we can attempt to cripple their assets in such a way as to save lives, im not talking about some mindless attack to wipe out all their military assets, Im talking about defanging them and stopping them from wriggling away, to stop any possibility to repocussions, even from rogue or rebellious elements. I believe that is more than enough in comparison to throwing away any chance that AGA will get again to negotiate, if any see that we go back on our promises and instead impose harsh terms on them after accepting calm and kind terms when we have already occupied them we are no different to other much more immoral and harsher nations that we even seek to stop. Besides if we are using our joint militaries to occupy them and keep an eye on them and they try to resist we will have to fight anyway." She didnt understand why it would be worth throwing away AGAs entire public image just to try aid a nation who had by all rights earned its retribution.
"There is already support for the military intervention, would you be much more open to such if we prioritised non lethal damages and crippling of Dectrose military assets over perceieved total destruction? I have no problem in supporting such and will be happy to accept individual surrendering of their military on the spot if it means we can then get rid of their assets but save their personel, apart from their super weapons which I believe should be destroyed"
Ural Memorial Station, Remnants of Ural: RSC Space
Stracken sits back down his posture clearly showing his annoyance.
“I would prefer we at the least try to resolve this without fighting, if we are happy wth the terms and unwilling to be underhanded about it why not bring them to the table and tell them so? This isn’t a war they can win if they stalled for a thousand years so I don’t see how at least one just one attempt at diplomacy is such a bad thing.”
He sighs and continues.
“Of course what ever decision is come to at the days end we will support, as is our duty as a member of this bloc, do not think we won’t fight because we are unhappy about how we are expected and why we are fighting.”
“Remember, I did also state that we will have them at the table as this strike happens. We will offer them terms, which they can then negotiate where we are willing to be leanient, this isnt some undiplomatic attack. We will handtie them and force them into accepting better terms, ensuring our credibility is intact and keeping lives lost to the minimum" She smiled, as if trying to get Stracken to trust her "I wouldnt advocate anything else"
“I think you missed the point of what I said, why do we not try at least once to change the terms bloodlessly? What do we lose by trying to talk without a strike when we can attack if they refuse our new terms?”
He hangs his head low and stares at the floor.
“It is not that I believe you possessed of ill will my wolf but simply that.. the idea of fighting humans when we have not tried talking first drains us as a people on a level that is hard to explain.”
"Because the Dectrose has repeatedly shown themselves to be unwilling to compromise on anything less than their own ideals and opinions. You may attempt to resolve this issue bloodlessly but what then, if it merely costs more in lives as a result of this delay when the Dectrose tries to pull yet another silly stunt like they had before here at Ural, the very system in which we have all gathered? I will be speaking with the Admirality Board on my return to mete out a verdict on Accordite military intervention," Eltan nods to Saffire.
“I can’t remember asking your opinion hyena.”
Stracken bristles.
“I do how ever remember speaking to a person bereft of actual standing and worth.”
He replies evenly tilting his head toward Safire.
“Poise the fleets to strike, have them ready to attack on but a word and then bring them to the table, surely a few hours cannot make any true difference?”
"The few hours you are speaking of is a risk." Consul Jan commented, its displeasure evident at how Stracken's mood shifted in way that seemed less than professional to Jahn. "In that time they could just use the Oracle to see the fleet build up and then act against it. Or they could just as easily send their responsible parties through the wormhole never to be seen again so that they don't really have to face repercussions. There are dozens of outcomes that spiral off us losing initiative by stalling for a few hours." Jahn then gestured to delay any response before it finished. "You see, the Dominion isn't fond of warfare for warfare's sake, but there is the obvious risk that legitimizing their terms by appearing to consider them could be used against the AGA, and given recent events the AGA does not need another political black eye."
"I agree, even a few hours could mean a chance for them to take measures against us. We will jump the fleets in, while they are at the table for negotiations. As we make our strike we can negotiate, the longer they toy at the table to negotiate better terms for themselves if we even allow them to the more we disable. Its not ideal but I think its the best we can do" Saffire replied.
Stracken nods glumly and looks back up from the floor.
“The Empire withdraws its complaint and as always stands ready to persecute war against the AGA’s enemies.”
To see Stracken relent after its attempt at passionate ranting was a pleasing sight to the Autarch who smirked sadistically throughout the exchange. Finally, the gestalt has got off its moral high horse and agreed to the military solution that Ayzen found close affinity with.
"UNIFOR will be retasked for the joint strike on Dectrose space. I leave it to our own military commanders to settle the finer details," Ayzen nodded. He did not need to comment any further, the rest had made their points for military intervention clearly and elegantly adding any more would be rehashing on his part.
"I'd advocate for an edit to that plan, myself," Rictuld finally responded. "It would be best to seize or destroy as many military and superweapon assets as possible, yes, but the wormhole should captured and be left open - but screened - in order to facilitate rapid transit of civilian elements back to their home space once, or if, they wish to return. The Dectrose are a newer empire in Ancerious and I imagine it is a safe assumption that many, if not most, of their population does not hail from here."
"That said, ignore that statement if someone's willing to facilitate transport after-the-fact," He finished with a smile.
"Exact finalised attack plans and terms can be hashed out later. But" Saffire turned to the VC, UWA and UDS representatives "The AGA stands with you. We will aid you in bringing justice to the Dectrose" She smiled.
The UWA as they were present in this meeting always remained silent. Their peace was kept until Saffire turned to them and spoke to them. Then at once, Edra Stragonn rose from her place and told all
"Dear friends and fellow representatives, the UWA accepts the plan against the Dectrose and shall stand with the AGA and all others against their Empire to bring justice and vengeance for what we have suffered and lost. And in addition..."
She turned to Kelrin
"The UWA does not want to accept any terms of surrender from the Empire of the Dectrose. We will not accept, no, we will not even take the hand of the Empire or their allies until they surrender according to our terms and to complete agreement with our terms. The United Worlds of Alondra is insulted to even read the terms of the Dectrose upon us. In the names of every man, woman and child lost in Ultrasina, we will not take away our declaration of war and we will demand reparations as we see fit and as all agree."
She took a breath and then said
"In essence, this means the United Worlds shall fully embrace war against the Dectrose Empire together with all of you against the Empire until the war is won and over with."
She then finished by saying "Once more, I wish to say that this is the will of my Secretary, my government and my people. As their representative, I have to inform you of this. And with them, I cast my vote in fighting the good fight."
“While I agree with the plan, millions of lives hang in the balance while we sit around and talk politics so level heads will need to prevail, as a result I suggest only a small group of representatives be sent one rep from each power bloc as well as a UDS and UWA rep should do in my opinion. Anymore and it just opens the way for semantics and to slow the whole thing down, much like the military attack the meeting needs to be quick and precise to maintain minimal casualties and have maximum effects.” Welkin piped in after the UWA representative
The Representative then said also
"Estoy de acuerdo contigo. I agree with you. On the other hand..." She raised her right hand as if she was going to swear an oath. She spoke "Let it be done. And for all your help, the United Worlds owes you so much as she owes the UDS.
Unidad, libertad y valentía!"
“The Annointed empire would very much like to attend this diplomacy, considering the Dectrose have a higher opinion of us given their willingness to hand over their entire territory to us it would seem the most practical choice.”
Stracken asks giving Safire what could very easily be a pleading glance.
“They appear to at least in part trust us, so let us lever that trust against them for a swifter conclusion to the war.”
The Vestahl Representatives had remained quiet up until this point. There were two seated at the table, the first was Armitage, the representative who had mediated the talks between the AGA and AURA at the conclusion of the Davian Conflict, and the other a well dressed stern looking man who hadn't bothered to introduce himself. Armitage had allowed things to proceed without interruption thus far. There was little for the Commonwealth to add and it seemed the AGA was not in need of extensive convincing. The comment from Welkin however stirred some activity on the Commonwealth's side of the table. There was a whispered conversation between the two men before Armitage stood. "Delegates," He greeted them before turning his gaze on Welkin. "While Mr. Welkin's suggestion has merit it would be a disservice to all those present for restrictions to be placed on attendance at peace talks. Each delegate here represents a sovereign nation with its own political, economic, and military agendas. While those agendas are currently aligned, it is unreasonable to ask that a nation, after participating and shedding blood in this conflict, give up their place at the negotiating table and force them to entrust their agendas to be represented by a delegate from a foreign nation." He paused. "The Commonwealth will take the Honorable Delegate's suggestion under advisement. The Askandar Pact will take every reasonable step to ensure that all of her Signatory's agendas are adequately represented by as few delegates as possible. I imagine the AGA will do the same, but the simple fact remains that any nation who sheds blood in this conflict deserves to be present when its end is negotiated."
“If the purpose of the meeting is to force the Dectrose into our terms of surrender as quickly as possible while striking at their assets to ensure co operation than having a mob of bickering diplomats all scrambling over each other like vultures to get their own agenda to the fore front seems like it would defeat the purpose of a quick negotiation, that is to save lives and stop the fighting as quickly as possible, if your goal is to see the dectrose neutralised as a threat than what possible reason could you have for wanting to attend the table when such a goal is shared by everyone participating in the war and will surely be carried out regardless of how many sit at the table?”
Stracken asks levelling a renewed stern look at the human before him.
“Do you not trust your allies to complete the goals laid out at the wars start?”
"I am sure we can work out the exacts of diplomats when the actual diplomatic mission is sent. And every step will be made regardless to ensure that adgendas are met all round as best as possible. However I am also forced to bring up another matter which both the Dominion, Commonwealth and Nucleans can confirm" She paused.
"As many of you know the Andrackan have been a major destabilising element in the west, with their aggressive attitudes in the Davian war and utter disregard for civilian life we learned that it is their actions that have brought about the huge dimensional incursion now underway, and have even attacked neutral empires. At a meeting designed to try negotiate some sort of limits to be imposed on them they responded with hatred, ignorance and vitirol. As a result Admiral Hargun tells me that the PACT and AURA subsequently declared war on the Andrackan, the Union too also pledged forces to help in the pacification of them. As did the Nucleans. I must again ask what will the AGA do in response to pacifying the Andrackan threat, and aiding in the war against the Shadows in the west?"
"Unfortunately at this point our combat reserves have already been stretched thin for the 2nd Ancerious War and this joint invasion on Dectrose. The IRS needs the rest of its remaining fleets to stay behind and protect the home front from possible APP and Dectrose incursions," Ayzen replied. "But we will eagerly provide material aid to the AGA effort against the Andrackan and the Shadows with our logistics and repair fleets serving to prolong the combat lifespan of allied warships in the course of operations."
"The representative from the Union is correct in regards to the Andracken situation." Jahn said without hesitation. "They have over time proven to be utterly treacherous in numerous encounters including the attempted negotiations with them where they attempted to unleash a super weapon on the Vaanitas Supremacy. They also, have demonstrated a dangerous level of contempt towards all present because in their words we were 'basics' and beneath them. They genuinely believe that because we are 'basics' our laws and our sovereignty means nothing, they can do as they please and take whatever they desire." Jahn through holographic displays showed recordings of what the andracken had done and, what they've said all in a timeline demonstrating the growing aggression of the species. "If they were just aggressive this would not be a major issue, it is that they are fanatical, and genuinely believe that they are doing no wrong that makes them very dangerous. This level of egotistical behavior is what aided the shadows in gaining what ground they now have, and it is this megalomanical nation of fanatics if left unchecked will destabilize the entire west, and make the shadow's invasion gain more ground than it ever would have otherwise." Jahn let that statement sink in before finishing its overall point. "The shadows are somewhat of a mystery that has to be understood so that it can be defeated, and we can and should put our collective best and brightest on the task of ending the shadow incursion. The Andracken only respect force, and that is what it will take to neutralize the danger they pose."
"The Inquisition agrees wholeheartedly," replied Kelrin. "While many scientists of ours would like a chance to study the Shadows more in depth beyond battle reports, that is an improbable goal. First and foremost must be their elimination as a hostile threat. As for the Andracken, while they do not openly attack with no probable cause like the Shadows, their arrogance makes them as equally problematic. We of the Inquisition will dedicate all forces we can to containing the threats of both the Andracken and the Shadows."
Menmuer was glad that the conversation had shifted away from the debate over the Dectrose and onto the Andraken, having quickly tired of Stracken's insistence on referring to other representatives as animals, and arguing against striking military targets.
"As Saffire as has said, we have recommended joint action against the Andraken and pledge to send forces to deal with them. Their activities and blasé disregard for both those around them as well as their high level of incompetence make them a threat that needs to be dealt with, in likely the same way as the Dectrose. I suggest we perform a strike on their systems to take out their navy, and then we can move on to neutralizing their capital structure, Stella O' Fortuna."
He paused, then continued "Concerning the Shadows, we can also commit forces, although from the reports we have received, I believe we should attempt to figure out a more efficient solution than raw firepower to deal with them."
"If I may," The man seated next to Armitage said, standing suddenly. "The Vestahl Commonwealth has some... pertinent information on the so called Shadows. This information is classified at the highest levels. Before proceeding I ask that all non-essential personnel leave the room."
He paused, waiting for his request to be fulfilled. Dutifully, Armitage stood and left without a word, taking the gaggle of aides and assistants with him. Once that was done the man continued.
"I am the Director of the Commonwealth's Security and Intelligence Service," He introduced himself. "A few years ago the Vestahl Commonwealth's Strategic Response Unit mounted an expedition to Zaingraf, following it's discovery and the revelation of its... situation. Several divisions and two dozen ships were involved in the endeavor."
He placed his tablet on the table, opening a file and passing it around for others to view.
"The rift the Shadows come through is functioning as something of a stable wormhole. Not unlike those that occasionally open allowing persons from distant galaxies or parallel dimension to enter Ancerious. As such, simply interdicting the planet was insufficient to close the rift. It was determined however, that interdicting the rift on both sides would close it. A portable interdiction device was constructed, and carried through the rift by a battalion strength unit under the command of then Colonel Claudette LaBrosse."
He paused handing out a brief personnel file. Most of LaBrosse's history was redacted, save a section detailing that she'd gone on to become supreme commander of the Vestahl Revolutionary Front.
"The device had to be precisely placed on the other side to ensure that the rift was not only closed, but that further rifts could not be easily opened in the general vicinity. After several days, Colonel LaBrosse returned with two platoons. She reported the mission had failed and the rest of her battalion had perished. Central Command ordered the planet abandoned and that the navy... sterilize it with thermo-nuclear weapons. It was reported that the sterilization had been carried out..."
He paused and sat down in his seat.
"Obviously, this was the first of many lies we were told by Colonel LaBrosse and her followers. Reports on what was found on the other side are conflicting, confusing, vague, and wholly unreliable. Worse most of those who survived the operation were later killed in the Civil War. Only a handful still live..."
He sighed and removed his glasses, rubbing his eyes.
"For a time the SIS was working to convince one of the survivors to speak to us about what was on the other side... She was one of those captured and tortured by the Divine Davian Empire and was... less than enthusiastic about speaking with us... Councillor Var promised her justice if she testified against the Davians. She did and despite that... there was no justice to be had. She's become wholly uncooperative since. Perhaps one of you may have an easier time speaking with her."
Saffire had come alone and so nobody left. Apart from two FRK aids and a Eramon aid.
"By creation, your people knew about this rift before hand?" Saffire shook her head is dismay.
"And you didnt think to notify others about a potential risk of incursion? Nevermind this has already happened. I am guessing that you still have a considerable amount of information given to you from the survivors even if it is semi untintelligible, I would suggest handing that information over to us to see if we can make some sence of it. Apart from that do you have the location of this LaBrosse? I believe that we need to get as much infomation as needed. If we are to destroy the Shadows and to ensure they do not come back by closing the rift then so be it" She then seeemd to realise something.
"However... " She turned to the Carnaithian representative "I have noticed from reports from Shadow affected nations that they hold a great deal of similarity to the incursion that we faced ourselves at the Natza Kartania ship breaking facility just outside of Tenebrae. The actual creatures appear to be both similar if not identical. The only way that the rift was shut in that scenario was due to the aid of the Sicarii who managed to close it, as the space around the rift was so corrupted that all conventional forces simply died when they went near it. If we are facing the same situation we must be extremely careful. Contact with the Sicarii has been exceptionally rare as of late, we may not get their help this time"
"We believed the threat to have been dealt with," The Director answered. "We were told the planet had been scoured of life, both native and the invading entities. We believed there was no reason to publicize the glassing of a planet. Internal politics were precarious at the time and the powers that be felt it would draw the wrong kind of international attention. Decisions were made, and with the information available to us at the time we believed them to be the right ones."
He leaned back in his chair.
"LaBrosse is dead." He said plainly before distributing another file. "The most reliable eyewitness accounts will come from a pilot who served with her during the operation. Cassandra Gariot, she's currently a drifter with the Black Rabbit Security Corporation. She shouldn't be hard to get in touch with."
Meanwhile, the UWA representative was nodding to herself as she placed a finger to her ear, as if she was listening to a voice hailing from her personal communicator. It went on for a few moments until she ended the conversation with a brief set of words in her own tongue.
At this point, the UWA representative stood up once more from her place and spoke to the representative of the Vestahl. She said plainly
"Forgive me, I wish to present a suggestion to my fellow representatives from our Secretary. The Secretary wished to, in light of the Shadows and the threat they pose, begin dedicating a few ships to patrolling areas that are close to the Shadows and if they choose to encroach on places close to our borders in space and if they get too close, the UWA seeks to engage them in order to defend themselves. I believe as a nation, the UWA has the right to protect themselves if need be and since we are all here, the Secretary wishes to share her concern as our nation is positioned incredibly close to Shadow encroachments."
“Allow us in the same room as this witness of yours and we will have your information for you.”
Stracken pipes up as he lean his elbows into the table in a lazy manner.
“Beyond that of course you can expect our help.... considering that we are fighting them as we speak we see no reason to stop fighting them.”
As he talks he begins twirling a finger around the long canines on his hyena coat staring lazily past the Vestalian.
He didn’t feel the need to mention of course that as the fleets super gestalt he was technically the entire armed forces and that by extension of him hearing what was said in this room every single member of the military fleet was now privy to the information, nor did he feel the need to inform her that they would likely be leaking this conversation to the universe at large.
The Director glanced at Stracken.
"Then you are welcome to try and contact her yourself." He tapped a few buttons and slid his tablet toward Stacken. "That's the communications code for the relevant parties in the Corporation. They'll handle any requests to speak with Ms. Gariot,"
"The Union will also be present at this talk to gather information. We need everything we can get to help defeat these things. It took a lot last time and that was only a small scale event, this is far larger. Do we have a comprehensive map of the affected shadow regions yet? Perhaps it is about time we dedicated forces to helping contain them, until the time of the main strike is ready" Saffire nodded.
"That sounds like the best option in the face of the alternative." Brelkov nodded, settling into the mode of a general and admiral, a leader of armies and fleets again.
"From what little I do understand of these Shadows, containment is an immense priority and so I will dedicate what forces I am able to doing so at this time."
Menmuer had been listening to the Union, Vestahl, and Anointed representatives as they spoke in order concerning the Shadow issue, taking in the information they provided and storing it in his eidetic memory.
Before he had entered the station, he had taken care to entangle several of the particles within his ear into the Nuclean government quantum comms network, as he skimmed the message traffic while the others spoke, easily multitasking both conversations. Now though, his left ear twitched, as he heard some new information that got his attention.
As Brelkov finished speaking, Menmuer spoke "Pardon the interruption my friends, but it seems that our sector capital within this galaxy has just been destroyed by a relativistic projectile jumping in system, in a somewhat similar manner to the Crucible."
Vice-Admiral Taravis took note of the Nuclean representatives’ unexpected statement, He was present for the AGA meeting as an observer when the APP used the Crucible to destroy Ural. Before the strike, the Dominion saw the Second Galactic War as someone else’s problem, but the idea that someone could trike from the distances implied immediately changed both the Quorum and Chancellor’s minds about being aloof in the conflict. That such an attack would occur again sent a chill down the man’s spine, his first thought was ‘not again…didn’t we just end that sort of threat?’ The Vice-admiral spoke in response to the statement maintaining an even voice. “Emperor Menmuer, do not take this as a statement of doubt, but please verify that. I cannot speak for the AGA representatives assembled, as the Dominion is here in an observing status but I’d like to know who perpetrated this act. Quick action in response will save lives and since we just took out the last weapon that was capable of that, there cannot be a very long list of nations with the capability to do this.”
Brelkov heard the Nuclean's words and instantly turned, his eyes wide. He remembered when Ural had been lost, he had been at the last meeting when it had been announced and a trooper had gone mad with grief. For sure, the AU representative remembered that. Outrage would not do here, and so he settled for pragmatism instead.
"Is there any word of survivors, comrade?" he inquired. "And as the Dominion has said, do you have any evidence on it's trajectory, who fired it?"
Sameh was quietly glad there were no power troopers to be furious this time around, though still she shifted in her seat, looking up and notably more attentive than her previously bored demeanour.
"And here I had hoped the APP had no such weapons left, whoever it was." she sighed. "But yes, confirmation would help. As should preparations for a strike force to destroy whatever weapon is behind it, I would think?"
Menmuer nodded at Taravis and the other's request for details "Of course, one moment." He then twitched the still-entangled particles within his ear in a specific pattern, now using them for transmission instead of listening, quickly typing out an order for information to be sent, along with a very long and complex authorization code specific to himself. Moments later, a special message was sent over the AGA channels to the various nations describing details of what had occurred.
"Information has now been sent to your respective nations concerning the attack" Menmeur said, producing a small holographic projector from nowhere in much the same fashion as his teacup and saucer, which was then placed on the table in front of him and activated, showing the same information that had been just sent out. From it, a large color video hologram played footage of the projectile exiting jump and then impacting the megastructure itself. The video was then replaced by a diagram of Stella Prime itself, illustrating the various damages that the impact had caused, details observed about the projectile as well as the impact, and the current estimated death toll. As this occurred, Menmuer spoke "So far, we have detected a brief FTL wake that originates in the vicinity of Capitol territory."
"Of course it is Capitol." Saffire sighed. Even now they still tried to lash out. But that didnt make any sense, they had been quiet ever since the Crucible and sources indicated they were near surrender. Perhaps it could be the actions of a fringe group? No matter it had happened and that was enough.
"I suggest we end this meeting here then. Menmuer your people need you and any information on this can be forwarded between us better with us not here in a room together. If we ready the liberation and occupation fleets now we may strike and end this fully. You have our full support in repair and rebuilding operations and supplies will be mounted for such shortly. Much has been agreed on today. Hopefully it all goes according to plan, and thank you to the guests of the PACT and others from the south west, as stated you have our aid. However this matter is more important as you can understand" Saffire was grim but honest.
"Agreed, comrade Saffire." Brelkov nodded, handing a datapad upon which he'd written orders for the fleet to the guard after summoning him over. With that he stood, donning his cap and nodding to all in the room.
"We have work to do and actions to oversee, so with that in mind I hereby adjourn this meeting. Thank you all for attending, comrades. May the Gods and good fortune go with you all moving forward."

Ural Memorial Station, Remnants of Ural: RSC Space
