The repairs to the far reaches primary drivers and it’s massive sprawling FTL systems were complete enough to allow for relocation and without earning the titanic ship began to charge its wormhole drive not even bothering to leave its dry dock as the ship shuddered and whined with power.
Klaxons wailed as the bridge crew helped compute the exact parameters for the jump.
Turash stood with his arms crossed, Vidar standing next to him smoking despite repeated attempts to get him to stop. The bridge was busy with parameters being called out and situational updates on each and every stabilisation bouy in the entire area. Ueuxtull also waited patiently as the Far Reach powered her FTL drives, Skalia had asked to FTL out of system while still in her underwater docking station, this would normally mean total destruction of the surrounding area but after Triarch had offered their aid permission was given. FTL translocation bouys and containment units had been set up across all 300 kilometres of area, it had taken days but the barrier would be able to contain the area of the FTL jump, all that would be affected was a titanic amount of water would be displaced causing massive tsunamis to ravage the Ueuxtull facilities but even this was accounted for. The Bouys would aid Skalias precision jump out, while the containment units would hold back the massive energies of the jump from irradiating and vapourising the surrounding area, at least the irradiation would be somewhat minimal. They would also hold back the water, and could be moved allowing Triarch to control the void and make it smaller gradually allowing the water to move in instead of creating a raging hole to be filled.
So far green lights were all across the board.
"Well shes repaired and we have what we need" Vidar smiled puffing slightly. Turash scowled but nodded.
"Yes preparations are complete, Ueuxtull has our word that this will go according to plan, it was you who allowed this to go ahead, I hope your plan and negotiation wont doom these people to bad relations with us"
"Of course not, your own engineers assured us, and as far as Skalia told me her FTL capability is mostly psionic in nature, meaning they dont have the typical flashes and bangs of typical slipspace or equivilant, so all is well"
"I hope your right. Tell Skalia she has the green light to jump"
The four Restevian warships left behind in the system after the strike group had departed would have to be blind to not see the energy buildup on the planet. As they weren't blind, the cruisers took up a formation in their orbit around the gas giant. They wouldn't be able to do a damned thing to the Far Reach and they knew it, but they hadn't been expecting it to be moving so soon-- they were all that was immediately available. But, when the enemy ship didn't show on sensors as moving out from the planet, they were baffled.
"Get me a fix on that vessel," ordered the commander of RNV Solvatagrad, staring at readouts of the planet.
"I want to know what it's doing, and where it's going."
After Vibius had left the AO, Chji had tried to see what he could see thus far, between passive scans and the tense air around the system, he didn't see much, and he didn't dare use active scans on the planet, but he didn't need to anymore. The Far Reach began charging FTL drives, he immediately slammed his comms to direct his interdictors, but stopped with the comm line open. If he raised interdiction now, it would be a hostile act, and likely mean a battle right where he would be at a disadvantage. He would lose many ships before they where in position to do anything. So, instead, he activated defensive measures on nearly all of his ships, ordering his Cruisers to gather as much information as they can.
The prospect of the Far Reach using FTL on-world was one not lost on him, it could destroy the planet, it was unclear why it was happening, but it wasn't his fault. They had allied themselves with Skalia, if she destroyed their world, that was their own fault. Quickly, his ships moved into pursuit formation, ready to track and follow the Far Reach if necessary. As far as he knew though, he had the ship right where he wanted it. The node was set already, and even though he prepared to calculate things the hard way, he hoped it would be a simple act to see where she was going. He opened up his long-range communications with Strongtower, they would in turn contact ISF Command and then give a line to Decoroso Command, with all the necessary defenses along their lines of communication.
Finished its charging sequence the far reach ripped reality apart before it an enormous mawing wormhole opening a few hundred metres ahead of its bow, within seconds untellable thousands of litres of water poured through the breach as the far reaches grav engines dragged it forward disappearing into the formless void with a shudder, across the system the brief flash of wormholes appeared on sensors as the accompanying shades left as well, how ever the wormholes in system were left stabilised and open a clear invitation to the pursuing fleets.
"Ueuxtull is corroborating that FTL is complete with minimal water displacement. They agree all has gone to plan and thanked us for paying them for their services"
"Duly noted, tell them we are extremely grateful for their help here. We will be paying them extra this time. What do you think? This all went quite well didnt it" Vidar smiled and tapped Turashes shoulder. The general scowled and the man recoiled his hand.
"Within parameters. We are done here, tell the FTL beacons to light up and prepare to transport. Are all forces aboard?"
"Yes sir all gear and forces have been recovered. The ocean and space forces are awaiting orders"
"Tell the fleet upstairs to jump, leave behind our usual token force. As for us, jump to. Our job is over" Turash commanded as the ship shuddered slightly. The Triarch ocean forces and all their transport vessels using pre placed FTL beacons to leave the system. The Triarch space force followed moments after, leaving behind a mere 4 ships to stay with the Ueuxtull Defense force.
Any fix on their end-position?"
"No, sir..."
"Are we able to deploy drones through?"
A long pause.
"Sir, there's no way to tell how long these wormholes will remain open. Drones may take too long."
"Alright. Tighten up formation, be ready for anything. All ahead."
"Aye, comrade."
The four Restevian vessels moved forwards the nearest of the Shades wormholes, raising their shields and maintaining a tight formation as they moved through. Every one of the ships was prepared for contact, but with no knowledge of where they were actually going to end up...
...Gods only knew what was about to happen.
Chji watched the RSC vessles jump headlong into the wormholes, it was obviously a bad idea, and he wasn't about to risk his ships going in where the enemy had homefield advantage, no. His forwardmost ships launched RAVD countermeasures, but for this exercise, they would transmit data back to the Dectrose ships, to inform them the coordinates from the Dectrothian Network,
He had several questions, but if the RAVDs failed, a few Hawks would do the trick, no need to send all of his forces. He sat there in his chair, wondering where they went, why and for what reason would they allow the pursuers to follow? Even as obvious of a trap as it stood, why give the chance?
As the RSC vessels came from the wormhole their sensors were instantly flooded with contacts. Tens of thousands of them.
The system was expansive, stations, civilian traffic in the near millions, heavily inhabited planets and large military elements were everywhere. Instantly the RSC computers would register hostile IFFs belonging to one faction, and one they knew well.
Capitol.
They had ended up in Celefra. The home system was filled with numerous things to catalogue and analyse, if intelligence could get this data it would be a field day and even help the AGA in planning to assault Celefra directly when the time came. But it was clear they had little time. The RSC had come right on the tail of the Far Reach which was surrounded by 200 odd Capitol system defense craft, and around a hundred Mk.3 warships which all appeared to be escorting the collossal warship towards the desert world in the inner system, Celefra itself. Fire near instantly erupted as system defense platforms and a small fleet of vessels that were near the wormhole opened up on the RSC fleet. Registering the RSC ships as hostile no quarter was given. Railguns, Thermonuclear missiles, Tachyon Arrows and Tachyon Torpedoes streaked into the small scouting force.
The Far Reach added it’s own opinion to the conversation of riddled steel and burning fire, no Missiles left her bay, no glittering conversion beams left her guns, instead something far more insidious occurred, with a gentle purple glow the super dread wrapped its telekinetic power around the leftmost Restavian vessel in the formation and began to apply crushing force to its exposed rear engines, normally for ships this far under its weight range it would simply pull them in half but these ships were not hers to kill.
The vessel furthest to the right now found itself fighting the war ships entire array of gravitic manipulation devices, “down” was now the opposite direction to which the ship was travelling, it’s marked deceleration was sure to be noticed by its allies and the enormous gravity lenses bubbling out behind it as light bent to the weak forces whims obscured its sensors of the incoming fire.
The centre vessel faced perhaps the most horrific of fates, telepathic waves crashed over the unprotected void cruiser, it’s crew now the target of insidious compulsions to kill main and burn anything and everything within their sights, the bridge crew was directed differently however.
”lower your shields, switch off your engines, let the cold void take you”
Letting out a sigh, he knew that his position wouldn't allow him to assist the RSC vessels, his duty here was done, the enemy retreated into Capitol space, and now the fight will be shifted out of his hands. The RAVD nodes self-destructed, leaving only small bits and pieces behind as Chji began to leave the system. FTL drives warmed up, and where ready to go on his command.
The Restevian group was devastated in moments, the left-most vessel and right-most being immobilized in less time than it took to blink. It was for sure too that the vessel that'd been blinded to the assault upon it, and in moments the incoming fire from the system defenses tore into it.
Hull plates shattered as shields failed, the tachyon arrows, rail gun fire and multitudes of missiles gutting the cruiser and sending the men and women aboard it screaming into the waiting hands of Death. There was nothing to be done for them as the hulk still hurtled upwards, secondary explosions and the destruction of ammunition wracking it until little but the frame remained.
The cruiser who's engines had been destroyed knew that they faced similar annihilation in moments, and their deaths were going to be even worse as they were unable to evade at all barring thrusters. Whilst their PD systems gamely brought down as many missiles and slugs as they were able, it still was not long before the vessel was mortally wounded and unable to go on. Even as the ship threatened to die around them, it's leaders held council, and a decision was soon made, no matter how it rankled it was to be done. The cruiser surrendered.
It was like hell made real upon the third ship devastated by Skalia, with entire Marine fireteams and power armor squads ripping themselves and the crew of the ship apart. Rifles and heavier weapons thundered in endless song as this miniature war played out. To those fighting it, they beheld their foemen as the ever hated enemy, the UEA... and thus was no quarter, nay, even a thought of quarter given. The blood of Restevians ran in rivers upon that ship, even as the shields powered down and the engines were silenced.
This left the fourth vessel-- the Solvatagrad. They hadn't been touched by the Shades, but with Capitol fire headed their way and with the enemy still there they had to go. Turning from their comrades, the cruiser dumped all power to it's engines and began a high-g hard-burn away. All they had to go was get out of the system's interdiction range-- then they'd be able to jump.
The RSC vessels that were quickly destroyed were rapidly leapt on by Hydra class destroyers, picking over the wrecks and searching for survivors and various pieces of technology. The guns of the rest of the fleet however concentrated on the vessel that now sought to run, TAs and railguns targetted engines even as the surrender broadcast was heard and accepted. A Trident class battleship let out multiple shuttles that now moved towards the RSC ship, full of Capitol marines and shocktroops who would apprehend the crew and secure the ship, ready for technicians and others to come aboard and survey the systems.
The vessels that escorted Skalia kept on, ignoring the whole debarcle behind them, while the cordon was kept up in case anything else came through the wormhole.
As the troops landed in the RSC ship the message was clear.
"All crew members are to relinquish their weapons and identify themselves ready for processing, any who do not comply or resist will be terminated"
The Restevians aboard the mentally-controlled vessel did not respond to the Capitol forces, yae they were not responding to their own comms as they kept fighting bitterly on. Walls and floors were painted thusly with blood as the gunfire kept on, men being torn apart by their former comrades even down to bare hands.
The crew of the disabled cruiser by comparison began to lay down their arms, though there were a few in the main engineering compartments and in the medical bays that bunkered up and made it obvious that they intended to resist.
As for the last ship, it's flight was ended abruptly when a TA lanced clean through it's reactor. The Solvatagrad lost control almost immediately, the loss of power sending the ship drifting almost immediately. The engineering crews that survived the strike began attempting to get power to the engines from the secondary reactors, but with the fire still coming at them they had little to no chance of escape now. Those weapons that still had power of any sort turned towards the Capitol vessels, the Restevian cruiser fully intending to die fighting.
The Far reach abandoned its delaying efforts now content that the Capitol forces had the situation entirely under control, burning its engines brighter it accelerated slightly trying to urge its escorts to bring it to its destination quicker.
Klaxons wailed as the bridge crew helped compute the exact parameters for the jump.
Turash stood with his arms crossed, Vidar standing next to him smoking despite repeated attempts to get him to stop.
