After Bohler's request, Diplomat Margaret Grey was ushered into the Ancerious galaxy, and soon found transport with Fleet Commander Drew Daniel's fleet towards Zypher's territory. Daniel was immediately suspicious, but Grey's hard diplomatic stature usually defused his more xenophobic remarks before they where muttered out of his mouth. It would pass in time, she thought, her white hair being brushed to the side as she thought about the diplomatic mission she was on.
Outwardly, Grey was an older-looking Dectrothian woman, and her wrinkles and soft gaze would look very soft and sincere, but inside, she was adamant and direct, something Decoroso Command thought was needed to talk to Zypher. But as Daniel's ship slipped into Zypher's territory, announcing it's presence and it's diplomatic mission, Grey gulped softly, she knew this might put Zypher in a difficult position.
Daniel's greeting hail was intercepted by a passing patrol. 3 Holy Pantheons showed up on their radar, following a small formation of High Majesties. After a brief exchange, one of the High Majesties escorted them to the near by Starbase Esclflown. The starbase was one of the many Freefloating Bunker Class installations that ZYPHER had in several sectors. With the backdrop of a very distant neutron star glowing in the distance, the silhouettes of the installations assigned self defense fleet.
As per usual, Daniel was concerned with the large ships escorting his own much smaller ship, Grey had to endure his short, distressed xenophobic remarks, but they stopped quickly when she looked over at him and said sternly "Relax, Daniel." He still muttered, but kept them quiet, as Grey updated Decoroso Command, and retrieved the necessary documents, there where some formalities, the research updates, so on and so forth.
But what she was really here for was to discuss Zypher's interest in FDC. Hopefully, she can get them to join, and discuss the finer details of the bloc. Though, she knew if she didn't receive word from Decoroso, she would have to break the news of the Dectrose leaving CORE. She agreed with Bohler, and Terri on the subject. There where several times Dectrose needed their assistance, and the economic benefits would have been welcome, but still, they had been silent. There where not many more interactions between them, and it made no sense to stay if the Dectrose felt alone, it was exactly the opposite of the reason they signed.
The Starbase Commander and Military Governor of this subsector, Kandice Zaron, yawned as she buttoned up her jacket to meet their Dectrose visitors.
“Got the live update information for them?” She asked the Raptor on her right and he nodded.
“Yes. Were in a research co-op with them. The Project Lead is currently unable to travel here but were waiting for Juniper-Canu to transmit the information.” He said.
“Understood. Lets go meet our friends then.” She said as she walked out to the docking floor.
The High Majesty broke escort as they got close, allowing the Dectrose ship to enter the docking pattern around the base.
As the 'Solicitous' slid relatively easy into the dock, Grey looked over to Daniel "It'd be best if you stayed on the ship, dispatch me the usual fireteam and I shall go out to meet our hosts." Before taking the elevator down, meeting her guards and then walking briskly to the Docking Bay, making her way to a shuttle, and taking that in to the designated location. She stepped out of the shuttle, the grand designs of the Zypher took her breath away, but as she collected herself, she tapped her RAVD node nervously, the light blinking on and off in her grasp.
Kandice walked with her usual entourage of officials as they stood waiting for the ship to dock. When they appeared, Kandice smiled friendly.
"Welcome to Starbase Escflown" She greeted
She smiled warmly back, extending her hand to Kandice "A pleasure to be here madam, I am Diplomat Margaret Grey, here on behalf of the Dectrose Empire." Her guards wore polished power armor, though she had excluded the Dectrothian flag on the Captain, she wasn't here to show off, this was a simple update of information, and an invitation to the FDC. By all standards, she was very simple-looking, as was her guards, in stark contrast to some of the others in the Empire. "And you are?"
“Governor Kandice Zaron.” She said as she took her hand.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you Margaret.” She spoke with oddly amusing and smooth southern accent.
"Now that pleasantries are finished, shall we get down to business?" Grey tapped on her RAVD node, connecting her to the Network, and once again her Processor ran through the subjects of this meeting. "I would assume you have a suitable room to relax and go over this as well?"
“I do. Right this way hon.” She said as she gestured towards an adjacent hallway. The governor led them into a spacious conference room.
“I’ve actually reached out to our project manager, who’s agreed to be connected here and deliver a live update of the project.” She said with a grin as she pulled a seat out for her at the table in the center.
"How thoughtful, I'm looking forward to seeing what our two research departments have cooked up" Grey said with a little lighter note, the tension and stress of a diplomatic mission slowly bleeding out and replaced with a more friendly atmosphere. She took her seat, crossing her legs and placing her hands together ont he table, the RAVD node fitting snugly in her palms
As the connection was established, a raptor appeared on the screen before them.
“Governor Kandice, right on time.” The raptor said.
“Don’t tell me your going to spoil our guest already.” She said.
“Well we just finished the 8th trial run for the modified Kilimond system. It took several tries but I think we’ve found a good synthesizer formula for the proposal.” He said before looking in Grey’s direction.
“My apologies for being so forward. I’m Proftor Erid Gar-darn-nar. Proftor meaning Doctor. I’m Special Projects Assistant lead over seeing our little engineering project for your people.” He said.
The RAVD node glowed and connected to Decoroso Command on encrypted frequencies, and allowed them to attend by seeing and hearing how the project was developing. "It's fine, I am Diplomat Margaret Grey, and I'm happy to hear the project is going so well. What can you tell me on the project thus far?"
“Well I’m happy to say we’ve found quite the perfect synchronization frequency for the crystallized formula you presented.” He started stepping back to show the background of the screen to show one of the projects that the teams were working on within the dome. There several chrysalis generators spread throughout the room. Several running towards the rear of the large dome shaped laboratory with a bright light and humming coming from them.
“The Frequency Formula using our old chrysalis kilimond generators we were able to churn out 5 different sync combinations.” He said as he walked towards the first generator.
“This Recent sync requires a low power ohm transfer” He said. Inside of the first generator, through the bright lights they could see several odd looking Kilimond shards spinning around a larger crystallized mass. The reaction was difficult to explain but plasma was definitely visible between the bright lighting. A quick flip of the switch on the Doctor’s side showed a molecular diagram of the reactions currently happening inside of the chamber.
Resting her head on her hands, Grey nodded reassuringly "Good, good, which are the other four?" She was curious, this Kilimond had several uses, and she wanted to make sure DRI and Decoroso Command where satisfied enough to continue funding. These joint projects where vital to future cooperation between Dectrose and Zypher.
“I’m sending the data of our findings to you now.” The doctor said as he looked to one of the techniticans who needed to get around him as the generator whined down.
“The others..work on crysaltic behaviors of creating an odd solid-state plasma that were going to push in for further testing. While the others have a mixture of frequencies that hyper extended into hyper-gas.” He said as he showed the other generators.
She looked at the RAVD node, her eye augmentations collecting the data and displaying it for her where only she could see, and then nodded, a smile creeping across her face "Thank you, you're doing an excellent job thus far, and we are pleased with your results. Though the next updates I would require more knowledge on would be the Xenodoth, and the research into synthetic metals, those that we could create to lessen our need for mining."
She paused, and a lump formed in her throat, but she continued "Taylor in his previous visit also spoke of a Crystal Infused Flamethrower weapon, could the solid-state plasma be used in such a manner?" She personally disliked turning good, safe research into weapons to kill, but it was her duty to ask and follow-up.
The doctor shifted, as if he was grabbing something that was out of view. A quick glance reviewed a datapad that was looking into the subject that was requested.
"Ah, that project I believe was headed by department researcher Targus Kaden." He said.
"You would be happy to know they've actually developed two types of this weapon. The crystal infused plasma converter is among one. The other is an experimental one, I believe Doctor Kaden wished to surprise you with once it was completed." He said returning his gaze to the screen.
Margaret exhaled slightly, and gave a small nod "I see, it's good to see that Kaden has something in store for the Dectrose, I thank him." She moved on past that, to the final piece on her agenda, just a reminder, and coordinates for Lupus. She was much more pleased to end her visit on a happier note than asking for weapons of war, and tapped her RAVD node to give them that reminder and the coordinates "I'd like to finish my visit to you with an offer of peace, and friendship."
She tapped her Datapad again, crossing it off the list as she spoke "This is a reminder that we will be having a meeting with all the nations interested in joining a defensive, neutral power bloc known as the Free Defense Council, or FDC. This meeting will be held at Lupus, in the Dectrose Empire, the coordinates are there as well as the initial instructions. I hope you come to join us for such an occasion and tighten our bond as allies and friends."
The military governor nodded, remembering the notation in the file for briefing about the FDC request.
"Ah yes...I believe the Imperium will be sending word of an officiate who will be delegating on our behalf to the FDC." She said.
"I'm not sure who, they've been quiet as of late on updates."
Grey smiled and gathered her things up as the last item on the list was answered "That's good news to hear, I'm sure Terri would be delighted to meet your people again there. Perhaps we can begin a better future to connect our two nations together in peace, but for now, I'll let you tend to your things and see to it that things on my end remain smooth, until next time Governor Kandice" She saluted, and made her way back to Daniel's ship, the anxious man calming down a bit in her presence, and they made their way back to the Empire.
